Chapter 216
“It’s my turn,” Theodore said calmly.
Jiang You came down the ladder with a grin, handed the scissors to Theodore, and let her catch the fruit from below.
After only a few calls, he became distracted, looking around for an opportunity to get out.
Not long after, I found a girl named Gary in the same group who had been on the island for almost three years.
Because of his poor English, Gary mispronounced words and made grammatical errors, which made Gary and the people around him laugh.
Jiang You smiled innocently, looking completely naive.
Theodore clicked his tongue in annoyance: "You dead cockroach, don't you know they're laughing at you?"
“I know,” Jiang You looked up, his eyes narrowing into two curved slits as he smiled. “They don’t mean any harm, and they can even gather information.”
He spoke in Chinese, and the people around him looked at Jiang You with confusion.
They didn't even glance at her for a second before the red-haired woman on the ladder swept her indifferently with her golden eyes. Although she had no expression, it frightened them, causing them to avert their gaze and silently move away.
After Jiang You finished speaking, he wanted to continue chatting with Gary and the others, but found that they were engrossed in their work with their heads down.
"Will this work?" Theodore asked dismissively, drawing her attention back to the topic.
"You don't know this, do you!" Jiang You said smugly. "Everyone has a heart that wants to educate others. As long as you ask someone in an area they are good at, they will basically answer your questions. Of course, the chances are even higher if the two people are at the same level."
Theodore raised an eyebrow noncommittally and remained silent.
He looked up to cut the fruit, and for a moment the surroundings became almost too quiet.
"Theodore?" Jiang You's voice came from below the ladder, clear and bright, as if carried by the wind.
"Hmm?" Theodore responded subconsciously, looking down while holding a freshly picked red berry.
Jiang You tilted his head back, raised his arms high, and made an eight shape with his hands, fingertips touching to form a rectangle aimed at him.
Her black pupils shimmered a warm brown in the sunlight. She tilted her head slightly, closed her left eye, and looked at him through the small rectangle with only her right eye. A bright smile curved her lips, exuding a warm, summery charm.
She paused, her eyes sparkling: "Of course, I am a warrior, and you are a princess!"
Theodore's fingers tightened slightly as he held the fruit, and suddenly felt that the cicadas chirping around him had become quieter.
He increasingly felt that the other person was like a large dessert, making his mouth dry and wanting to devour them quickly.
Why isn't there any response? Jiang You put down his hand and watched Theodore turn to cut the fruit. He scratched his head in confusion for a moment.
Given Theodore's sharp tongue, shouldn't he have said something to her?
For example: "You? Pigs can fly." Or: "I should be the one rescuing you. I'm the hero, and you're the princess. No, you're not even a princess, but I'll reluctantly take you with me when I get out."
Aren't good friends supposed to tease each other? Why isn't anyone reacting at all?
Jiang You took the three fruits that Theodore handed him and put them into the basket.
“Theodore, I’m serious,” she said, clinging to the ladder and gazing longingly at Theodore’s profile above, her voice filled with grievance. “Why aren’t you giving me any response? Are you angry? You’ve never ignored me before…”
“Didn’t you say you wanted to learn English? I’ll teach you,” Theodore said casually, twirling the scissors in his hand.
Jiang You's eyes lit up. She had mentioned learning English to Theodore a long time ago, but he had always disagreed: "Really?"
She released the ladder and stepped back a few paces to get a better look at Theodore's expression, but the ladder wobbled a few times and tilted to the left.
Jiang You: "!!!"
Those around couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Fortunately, the ladder wasn't high, and the ground below was dirt.
Theodore rolled over and sat up, saying expressionlessly, "It's fake."
