Chapter 219

Chapter 219

"What are you looking at?!" Theodore glared at her, his usual nonchalant expression gone, now looking like a cat with its back arched and its fur standing on end.

If she goes up to talk to a cat of this type, it will definitely hiss at her, and might even scratch her.

Noticing that Theodore didn't seem angry, Jiang You simply said "oh" and looked away.

She held the ladder steady, took the scissors, and climbed up.

After a while, Theodore returned to his usual lazy and indifferent demeanor.

But he seemed to have forgotten that not only did he not know what Jiang You was chatting with, but he also gave him a piece of candy.

Jiang You smiled but didn't say anything more.

The afternoon flew by while we were working. The sun moved westward, and the heat in the wind slowly dissipated, leaving a slightly cool feeling.

As the last rays of sunlight swept across the mountainside and the sky darkened, the branches stretched out in the twilight. After packing up their belongings, everyone walked back together.

People were whispering and chatting, their voices drifting intermittently with their footsteps, mingling with the occasional rustling of branches in the wind.

Theodore strolled along with his hands in his pockets, and after a while he felt something was missing. He thought for a moment and realized that the little sparrows weren't chirping.

He turned his head to look at Jiang You. She walked quietly with her head down, fiddling with a blade of grass in her hand.

She wasn't looking where she was going and almost tripped over a small mound.

Theodore swiftly grabbed Jiang You by the back of her collar and set her down.

"What are you doing?" the voice asked lazily.

After regaining his balance, Jiang You shook his head: "Nothing much, just playing with a blade of grass out of boredom."

“You’re really boring,” Theodore bent down, tugged at her cheek, and rubbed it.

"You're really boring... Ouch, stop rubbing it," Jiang You said, lowering his eyes and concentrating on fiddling with the grass.

She couldn't escape Theodore's hand no matter how she leaned left or right, so she turned her head and buried her face in his, rubbing against him forcefully, trying to shave his hand away.

Unexpectedly, Theodore tensed instantly, his fingers, which were pinching her cheek, paused for a moment, and he awkwardly put his hands in his pockets: "I'm not doing it anymore, you just walk properly."

What's with this? Suddenly she's leaning in and rubbing against him. It's so annoying. Doesn't she have any shame or sense of distance?

I have completely forgotten the scene of me holding Jiang You tightly in my arms and not letting go while we slept this morning.

But cats are so hypocritical. If they touch you, it's a sign of respect. But if you try to touch a cat, that's unacceptable.

Jiang You had just straightened up from Theodore's back when Theodore, being the one to provoke her, slapped her with his claws.

She has a completely different personality from her roommates, Wang Lili and the others.

As Jiang You was thinking, he saw Theodore suddenly stop halfway through his walk and slowly turn around.

The castle behind him was lit by warm yellow lights, and the windows, like stars embedded in the stone walls, outlined the delicate curves of his face.

Theodore just stood there, looking at her with his half-transparent golden eyes, his chin slightly raised, as if to say, "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and catch up."

No matter how eye-catching he was, he was like the midday sun in midsummer, shining brightly and exuding an unbridled arrogance.

She wants to be friends with people like that.

"I've been waiting for you, and you're just spacing out?"

An incredulous tone came through, and then she was flicked on the forehead.

“…Ouch,” Jiang You snapped out of his daze and clutched his forehead, crying out in pain.

There was no one else around. Theodore, who was standing in front of her, snorted and said, "Serves you right." A second later, he reached out and pried her hands off, rubbing her forehead.

Jiang You put the grass into his pocket and chuckled at him, "I wasn't daydreaming, I was just mesmerized by you. Theodore, you're really good-looking."

Normally softer, but uniquely girlish, the voice made Theodore's mind go blank for a moment. He didn't know why he felt a little happy and proud. He had heard the same praise from childhood so many times that it was so commonplace that it didn't stir any emotion in him.

It was strange; he had never experienced anything like this before, and the incomprehensible principle made him very frustrated.

After thinking it over, it all comes down to Jiangyou's fault.

"W-what? You only just realized I'm good-looking on the first day?" Theodore turned his head away uncomfortably. "Besides, who told you that? It's so boring. Let's go."

"Okay, okay."

......

After dinner and a shower, Jiang You returned to the cold, mournful room.

She tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep, wondering if she should go find Theodore.

Jiang You was caught in a dilemma, even though he had vowed just yesterday to sleep for only one night.

She hesitated for a moment, then became assertive again, because Theodore was her eldest daughter (self-proclaimed).

Theodore, having changed his clothes, heard a knock at the door and went to open it.

"Theodore~~, I'm scared~~~" Jiang You hugged a big pillow, blinking pitifully.

Theodore: "Be normal."

"No, you don't like this... Hey, wait a minute!"

Seeing Theodore close the door expressionlessly, Jiang You quickly stuck one foot in to block it: "Theodore Fahai, how heartless you are! We were all lovey-dovey during the day, and you turn your back on me at night."

Unable to close the door, Theodore simply left it open.

He leaned against the door frame, his back bent in a lazy arc, his golden eyes fixed on her without looking down: "Little Sparrow, I need to have a good talk with your Chinese teacher about your use of 'whispering in each other's ears, and you said yesterday that you would only sleep for one night."
