Chapter 284

Chapter 284

Jiang You led Zuo Zuo back into the house.

Her handicraft work stopped, and her food delivery work stopped too. Suddenly, she was unemployed again, with nothing to do.

People tend to think a lot when they have free time.

Jiang touched Zuo Zuo, who was lying on his lap, with his right hand, his eyes vacant, thinking that he couldn't do nothing before Xia Yan came looking for him.

Just then, his phone chimed. Jiang You took it out and saw it was a message from Aunt Wang, who did handicrafts.

Aunt Wang: [Young lady, why haven't I seen you these past few days? I have a new batch of goods here, 50 cents each, do you want them? If you do, I'll save them for you.]

"Five cents each!" Jiang You's eyes lit up, and he quickly replied, "Yes, Aunt Wang, save some for me, I'll be right there."

Before Xia Yan arrived, Qu Xing Xiaobai told her that there were many jobs that could be done from home, such as drawing, voice acting, graphic design/UI/illustration, being a social media blogger, or writing novels, and they suggested that she learn one.

Jiang You loved drawing since he was a child, and he would copy the characters on the beautiful covers of romance novels.

Jiang You's parents were the type who just wanted to keep their child alive; they wouldn't support her hobbies or interests at home, and she was sensible enough not to say anything about it.

Now that he had the opportunity, Jiang You naturally chose painting.

If Xia Yan hadn't come, she would have already paid her art tuition and was probably ready to listen to online lessons.

...What if Xia Yan doesn't come? Sigh, my savings are in jeopardy.

Jiang You locked Zuo Zuo inside the house.

She went out the door, took a huge detour to get to the factory, and picked up the new goods.

The new goods were heavier than the previous ones, so Aunt Wang and she tied them to the back of the bicycle together.

Aunt Wang: "Young lady, be careful on the road."

"Thank you, Aunt Wang," Jiang You said softly, holding onto the handlebars as he walked forward.

The goods were very heavy. After taking a couple of steps, she lost her balance on the handlebars, and the bicycle looked like it was about to fall.

"careful."

A cool voice came close first, followed by a pair of large hands covering hers and tightening to steady the handlebars.

Jiang You was startled and subconsciously looked up, only to be met with a pair of amber eyes veiled by a very faint mist.

Xia Yan was wearing a brown baseball cap, with a few strands of black hair sticking up from under the brim.

She slipped her casual jacket aside, revealing a light brown plaid shirt underneath, and a white undershirt.

He was tall and upright with an extraordinary demeanor, standing out from the drab factory, which attracted the attention of the factory workers who came out for a break.

Xia Yan let go of his hand for some unknown reason, took a step back, supported the goods behind him with his left hand, and bent the index finger of his other hand, pushing open the brim of his hat to reveal his entire face.

He tried to smile, but it was a little unnatural because he hadn't smiled in a long time. His cold pupils also carried a hint of confusion, but he quickly returned to calm.

Xia Yan: "I remember you don't like being stared at by a lot of people. Let me help you, let's walk."

Since the weight of the bicycle was all on Xia Yan, it wouldn't fall over even if she let go. Jiang You remained silent for a long time, then turned around, gripped the handlebars tightly, and pushed the bicycle forward.

The two walked one in front of the other.

Not long after they left, Xia Yan spoke up, his tone slow and casual as if he were chatting about everyday things: "It's been a long time since we've been like this."

Jiang You remained silent, having nothing to say, as the decision was not in her hands.

Xia Yan's voice was still drifting over, seemingly very close, right next to my ear, slowly tightening around my heart.

"I hated you after we broke up and wanted to get my revenge."

She walked ahead and couldn't see his expression, but she still felt as if a venomous snake with a forked tongue was watching its prey from behind.

"But how to get revenge? I thought of many ways while I was abroad, but when I passed by a jewelry store window, I saw earrings that looked really pretty on my earlobes, so I went in and bought them."

"When a foreigner asks me if I have someone I like, I think of you, and my face gets a little hot."
