Chapter 87

Chapter 87

The parking lot was completely silent. Jiang You's eyes darted around, thinking he must have said something wrong, which was why the man in front of him hadn't spoken.

Her fingers twitched, her mind racing. What should she do? Should she say something to break the silence? Or should she say nothing at all?

Whether out of exasperation with her awkwardness or her timidity, the gentle and handsome man sighed softly, placed the white bag inside the car, closed the door, reached out and ruffled her hair, and said gently, "Let's go."

Jiang You pursed his lips, tidied his messy hair with his hands, and followed behind Xia Bei.

After sitting in the dimly lit parking lot for a while, the outside light became a bit too bright, and the girl squinted.

Xia Bei turned around, shielding her from some of the light. His gaze swept over her, and he said lightly, "Your neckline?"

Jiang You's hoodie is a fake two-piece set, with a shirt collar sewn onto the neckline. This morning, the temperature dropped sharply, so he hurriedly dug it out and put it on before going to class.

I didn't see that the left side of the collar was outside and the right side was tucked inside the sweatshirt.

The girl was extremely concerned about what others thought, and upon hearing this, she touched her collar and stammered, "W-what's wrong?"

“It’s nothing,” Xia Bei stepped forward, bent down slightly, raised his clean, white hand, and stroked her fingers that were resting on her collar.

Jiang You hurriedly lowered her hand, and Xia Bei's cool fingertips brushed across her collarbone, creating a ripple.

She asked nervously, "Leader?"

"Your collar isn't done properly," Xia Bei's thick black eyelashes cast a shadow under her eyes as she gently pulled one side of the collar out of her hoodie and carefully straightened it.

Jiang You held his breath, his face flushed crimson, his eyes darting around, his gaze drifting upwards to a fair chin and rosy lips before hastily looking away.

Xia Bei slowly withdrew his hand, ignoring the cheap feel of it, and said indifferently, "What did you just call me?"

Jiang You met his light-colored pupils and asked nervously, "Leader?"

“I don’t think our relationship is that distant,” Xia Bei said, narrowing her eyes and raising an eyebrow. “What do you think?”

"Uh? Um, um..." Jiang You didn't know what to say. She rarely talked to people she wasn't familiar with, let alone people she was only semi-familiar with.

Xia Bei waited for a while, and seeing that the girl didn't seem inclined to speak, he said helplessly, "Shouldn't you call me 'brother'? After all, you're my...brother's girlfriend?"

Unaware of the other party's slight pause, Jiang You quickly nodded. As the leader, whatever he said was right.

Looking into the girl's eyes, Xia Bei remained silent.

Why are you staring at her? Just say what you want to say! Jiang You's fingers tightened, and suddenly, a thought struck him, and he tentatively asked, "Brother Xia Bei?"

Xia Bei chuckled and replied, "Yes, Jiang, lead the way and show me around the campus."

Jiang You breathed a sigh of relief upon learning that the other party was being kind to her because of Xia Yan.

I hadn't taken more than a few steps when I was called back.

“Your back is covered in dust,” Xia Bei said, bowing his head and silently patting the dust off her back with his hand, again and again.

He must have gotten some dust on a pillar in the parking lot. Jiang You blushed and said, "It's nothing... thank you... thank you, Brother Xia Bei."

"No need to thank me," Xia Bei said casually. "By the way, didn't you wash your clothes? They're all wrinkled."

“...Uh, the temperature dropped this morning, so I dug it out and put it on,” she explained.

"Is the school scheduling classes so tight? There's not even a chance to change into clean clothes."

Jiang You immediately felt alarmed; she hadn't forgotten Professor Wang's words: "It's not the school, it's just that I'm lazy, so I just threw on any clothes."

To be fair, the school wasn't that good, nor was it that bad; it was just an ordinary school, just like her.

Seeing the girl covered in cold sweat, Xia Bei looked away without saying anything and led her back to the parking lot.

Jiang You assumed Xia Bei had forgotten something, until he opened the passenger door and let her get in, then he realized he was taking her out.

"Brother Xia Bei?" she asked, puzzled.

Xia Bei said succinctly, "I'll buy you clothes."

How could Jiang You possibly agree? This seemingly easygoing man suddenly became assertive.

When I came to my senses, I was already wearing new clothes and carrying several bags of new clothes.

After buying the clothes, it was noon. Xia Bei put her new clothes in the car and went to a nearby upscale restaurant.

Inside, the piano notes are lively and vibrant, echoing the saxophone and weaving together to create beautiful harmonies.

Having seen a lot of the world by following Xia Yan and Song Yun, Jiang You, though not used to it, did not enter the Grand View Garden like Liu Laolao.

At the dining table, Xia Bei lowered her eyelashes and ate slowly and deliberately, exuding elegance in every movement, while occasionally glancing at Jiang You.

He would thoughtfully refill her glass when it was almost empty, and hand her a tissue when he saw sauce on her lips... He was truly a gentleman.

The nicer the person in front of her was, the more guilty Jiang You felt. She believed that Xia Bei was only nice to her because she was Xia Yan's girlfriend, and that he was only treating her like a younger sister because of that.

But she wants to break up with Xia Yan, and right now she's still entangled with Song Yunlu and Shi An...

After finishing the last bite of her meal, Jiang You, preoccupied with her thoughts, looked up and found that Xia Bei had already finished eating and was staring intently at her.

She couldn't quite describe the emotions and meaning in his eyes; she always felt something was off, but couldn't quite put her finger on why.

When Xia Bei was sitting, he was much taller than her. He was wearing a simple gray casual jacket and lacked the air of someone in a superior position, but somehow he still gave her a strong sense of pressure.

Moreover, the table was a small square table for two people, and the man's legs were long and straight, taking up most of the space under the table. Somehow, she always managed to touch his legs.

Jiang You recalled the feeling of a man's leather shoes brushing against her calves in the villa in Beijing. The blush that had finally faded returned to her cheeks. Her legs instinctively pulled back into the chair, but the other man could still touch her knees.

"Have you finished eating?" Xia Bei asked with a gentle smile, her gaze almost meltingly tender.

Jiang You nodded repeatedly. The man paid the bill and took her back to school.

Jiang You put down his clothes in the girls' dormitory and headed downstairs without stopping.

"Jiang You!" Song Yun called out sweetly when she saw her come down, and walked over to take her hand.

Jiang You swallowed hard, stiffly turning his head to look at Xia Bei, who had a half-smile on his face. Two words flashed through his mind: We're doomed!

Depend on!

I was originally looking for an opportunity to send a message to Song Yun, telling her not to contact her for the next couple of days.

However, Xia Bei was busy pinching her cheeks and earlobes, taking off her clothes, buying clothes and eating at the parking lot, so he didn't have time to think about Song Yun and forgot about her.

Song Yun, oblivious to the situation, asked, "Youyou, what's wrong? Are you sick? Your face is so pale."

He cupped Jiang You's face in his hands, his amber pupils slowly drawing closer. His worried expression changed as he got closer to her lips.

Her thin lips pursed slightly, as if she wanted a kiss.

As if realizing something, the girl abruptly pushed him away. Song Yun was startled, and a look of grievance immediately crept onto her exquisitely beautiful face: "Youyou..."

Although Youyou usually doesn't let her kiss him, she's never been this serious before.

Jiang You didn't look at him immediately, but instead looked at the man on the other side.

Song Yun frowned slightly, then looked at the man, meeting his scrutinizing gaze.

Her aggrieved face slowly returned to calm; she truly didn't want to show any emotion to anyone else.
