Chapter Fourteen Xia Yan's Brother
The university students were very polite; they watched from a distance and did not approach.
Jiang You felt a tightness in his chest; with so many people, he dared not get out of the car.
Her phone kept ringing. She glanced at it instinctively and saw that someone had taken a picture of the car and posted it on the school's confession wall.
The post was up and down dozens of times in just a few seconds on the confession wall.
She gripped her phone tightly, pursed her lips, and dared not get out of the car.
Xia Yan glanced at her, remembering how she had been surrounded by people that morning, restarted the car, reversed, and parked in a quiet, dark place not far away.
“Okay, there’s no one here,” he said, unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car. After thinking for a moment, he put on a hat and sunglasses.
Jiang You breathed a sigh of relief, got out of the car, thanked Xia Yan, and walked towards the school.
She hadn't walked far when she noticed him following behind her. She suddenly stopped, turned around, and lowered her head, subtly shooing him away.
"I've arrived at school, no need to see me off, you can go back now."
After saying that, the boy cupped her face in his large hands, forcing her to tilt her head back and look at the boy wearing sunglasses.
"I've covered myself up completely, so I won't cause you any trouble."
Throughout the journey, Xia Yan pondered in the car why Jiang You allowed him to get close inside the house, but outside, he always tried to avoid him.
We have just concluded that Jiang You does not like being stared at or watched by others.
While he may think this way, he does have the qualities to attract attention, both in terms of his appearance and his inner qualities.
Thinking about it this way, the frustration in his heart gradually dissipated. The girl wasn't rejecting him, but rather disliked being watched by others.
It can only be said that Xia Yan guessed half of it correctly.
Jiang You quickly took a few steps back, his face flushed as he lowered his eyes. He felt that this young man was simply a demon, able to easily stir people's hearts.
“Come on, I’ll walk you to your dorm,” Xia Yan said, taking her wrist and leading her forward.
Seeing that the girl stopped saying anything offensive and let him hold her hand obediently, he smiled and happily moved his fingertips down her palm, their fingers intertwining.
Jiang You's body stiffened slightly as he looked at the two people's interlocked hands, his eyelashes trembling.
His hands were very beautiful, long and clean, and in the darkness they looked like lustrous white jade, gleaming with a glazed sheen under the streetlights.
Her hands weren't bad-looking, neither big nor small, just average, but compared to the beautiful woman in front of her, they made her hands look very ugly.
Filled with jealousy, envy, and resentment, she felt uncomfortable and wanted to pull her hand away, not wanting to be held anymore.
Xia Yan frowned, not understanding why they were fine just a moment ago, but the next second they started to dislike him.
Just as he was about to say something, the girl took the initiative to step forward and walk close to him.
His amber eyes widened slightly in surprise, and a current of electricity coursed through his body, making him feel tingly and pleasantly numb.
Using the phrase "overwhelmed with gratitude" to describe Young Master Xia, who has been pampered and indulged since childhood, is truly an insult to him.
The girl's initiative left Xia Yan flattered and at a loss for words.
There were still many people at the school gate. Jiang You saw this and, realizing he couldn't pull his hand back, instinctively stepped forward and walked close to the boy, hiding their clasped hands between them.
She had finally managed to hide it, but then the boy excitedly raised his hand and kissed her fingertips.
Jiang You: "..."
Xia Yan's aura was so strong that even with a hat and sunglasses on, many people were still drawn to him and looked at him.
Some people saw her and suddenly gave her an ambiguous smile.
Jiang You held his breath, his face flushed, and used his student card to open the small door, quickly leading Xia Yan inside.
The girls' dormitory is not far from the school gate; it only takes two or three minutes to walk there.
Upon seeing the dormitory building, Xia Yan felt a surge of anger. How could this even be called a building? This heartless girl insisted on coming back just to live in this godforsaken place.
The paint on the walls was peeling and the place was filled with a cold and lifeless atmosphere. Only when one or two people occasionally came out did it feel a little more human. It didn't feel like a haunted house.
"Are you sure you don't want to come back with me?" The disdain in his voice was impossible to hide.
Jiang You shrugged and pulled his hand back: "Um, thanks for bringing me back. See you tomorrow."
After walking a few steps, Xia Yan grabbed her wrist with his large hand: "We haven't added each other on WeChat yet."
Jiang You paused for a moment, then lowered his eyes, took out his phone, and scanned the boy's QR code.
His profile picture is a fat orange cat curled up sleeping on the eaves, and his WeChat nickname is "Confused Cat".
She glanced at it, saved it as Xia Yan's contact, put her phone away, and said goodbye to him.
Xia Yan couldn't bear to part with her, so he pulled her aside, pressed her against a tree, and kissed her for a while.
She hadn't drunk water for a while, and her lips were a little dry.
After kissing her, he licked her dry lips with the tip of his tongue to moisten them before letting go, and whispered in her ear, "Drink more water when you get back."
Jiang You blushed furiously, gave a perfunctory reply, turned around, took a few steps, and entered the dormitory building.
Her dormitory was on the third floor. It was summer vacation, and many people had chosen to go home. Only a few people went up or down the corridor occasionally.
Without exception, upon seeing her, they all revealed a mocking, ambiguous, and unspeakable smile.
Jiang You lowered his eyes and pursed his lips, appearing calm on the surface but gradually becoming flustered inside.
Why do you see her that way?
As I walked, I took out my phone, but there were no rumors about her on the campus website.
I couldn't figure it out when I got back to the dorm, until I went to the bathroom and saw myself in the mirror. My neck was covered with hickeys.
My face suddenly burst into flames.
"Xia, Yan!"
She gritted her teeth, both angry and annoyed, and in a fit of rage, she lost her temper.
Thinking of the looks in her classmates' eyes, she couldn't help but cover her face with her hands and squat down, feeling so embarrassed she wanted to go crazy.
Xia Yan, downstairs, wore her sunglasses backwards behind her ears and stared at the dormitory building for a long time. It wasn't until someone came up to ask for her WeChat that she slowly came back to her senses and looked at the girl who looked excited and shy.
Two other companions were waiting for her not far away.
After glancing at it casually, he said, "I just took my girlfriend back to her dorm."
He has a girlfriend but won't add her on WeChat. He could just refuse, but what can he do? He just wants to show off that he has a girlfriend.
When Xia Yan is not facing Jiang You, he is like the winter sun or the light in a refrigerator—bright but without warmth.
Even though he had a smile on his thin lips and a pair of beautiful, affectionate eyes.
The girl stared at his handsome features for a moment, then realized what he meant and said with a smile, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
He ran away awkwardly.
Xia Yan glanced at the dormitory building and then left the school.
A group of people were taking pictures of the car parked in a secluded corner. He dialed his older brother's number and calmly walked over.
They got into the car amidst surprised, envious, and eager glances.
He drove a distance before his older brother answered the phone.
"Brother, how have you been lately?"
"Get to the point."
The sound of documents being flipped through came from the other end of the phone. Well, his older brother was always very concise. Xia Yan didn't mince words and went straight to the point:
"Isn't there Tengzhong Normal University in Sheng'an City? That school receives a lot of investment every year, from the government and corporations, but the girls' dormitory is so dilapidated it's unbelievable."
At this point, he got angry. That place was no place for a human to live. His poor girlfriend treated it like a treasure and insisted on coming back to live there. It was infuriating.
What's good there?
Thinking of this, I wish I could rush back, pull the person out, and take a bite.
Xia Yan used many words to describe that dilapidated building; in short, it was extremely rotten and broken down, not a place for humans to live.
After a two-second silence on the other end of the phone, the caller precisely cut to the chase: "What were you doing in the girls' dormitory?"
Upon hearing this, the air fell into a deathly silence.
Xia Yan felt as if she had been choked and couldn't say a word.
He parked the car on the side of the road and looked out the window with his beautiful eyes.
The glass curtain walls of skyscrapers reflect the flashing neon lights, like countless stars fallen to earth.
A cool breeze blew in from the summer evening, and he calmed down, thinking for a long time.
After confirming that it wasn't a spur-of-the-moment decision, a novelty, or a rash impulse, but rather a well-thought-out one, he chuckled and said, "What else is it? To take my girlfriend back to her dorm. I'll bring her back for you to meet during the New Year."
"Are you serious?"
"Otherwise, by the way, don't tell Mom that my girlfriend is timid."
I'm really afraid my mom will fly over here to see what my daughter-in-law looks like.
Beijing City.
Xia Bei put down the folder, removed the gold-rimmed glasses from her nose with her long, slender, fair fingers, stood up from behind her desk, picked up her phone, and walked to the window.
Outside the window was a small alley, guarded by several soldiers with guns.
He looked around casually, his well-tailored executive jacket open, revealing a snow-white shirt underneath.
The collar was not buttoned properly, and her fair and delicate collarbone accentuated her refined and elegant demeanor, while also carrying a hint of a suave scoundrel.
"Brother, are you still listening?"
"Tengzhong Normal University?" Xia Bei raised his phone, a red string tied to his wrist with a piece of warm white jade hanging from it.
He held a square lighter in his right hand, and as he played with it, it made a clicking sound from time to time.
After hearing his brother's affirmative answer, he hung up the phone, took out a cigarette, put it in his mouth, and lit it.
After the smoke circulated through his lungs, he slowly exhaled in a straight line, instantly creating a swirling cloud of smoke that blurred the man's nonchalant air of nobility.
He knew Xia Yan well; once he made up his mind about something, he would never turn back, even if he got hurt badly.
Is the girl from Tengzhong Normal University in Sheng'an City? You can tell from her voice that she's not in that circle.
But so what? Families like theirs no longer need marriage alliances to consolidate their power; all they need is a clean family background.
After taking four or five puffs, I went to my desk. Wasn't there an inspection and KPI to check?
I'll go to Sheng'an City and visit my younger brother and sister-in-law while I'm there.
