Chapter Nine Misunderstanding
Jiang You dared not linger outside, even though the boy in the hoodie was very handsome.
If Xia Yan's appearance is exquisite yet heroic, his smile is approachable and sunny, but when he doesn't smile, he is aloof and arrogant, keeping strangers at bay.
So, the hoodie-wearing boy is androgynously beautiful, like a fallen angel with broken wings, beautiful and serene yet with a morbid madness and deadly allure.
Even if he is good-looking, that doesn't justify his lewd behavior.
Jiang You returned to his dormitory, feeling uneasy.
Her parents had always taught her to avoid trouble and to always back down. So much so that even though she was upset and angry, she didn't think to call the police because she hadn't suffered any real harm.
Standing in front of the mirror, she saw a bright hickey on the side of her neck and, resigned to her bad luck, washed it off with water.
Meanwhile, Xia Yan received a phone call while chatting with her childhood friend in the conference room's function hall.
"Found it? Okay, you can come back now."
After he finished speaking, he heard the person on the other end of the phone continue, raised an eyebrow, and his almond-shaped eyes showed a hint of surprise:
"You're saying Song Yun, who's only interested in painting, wants to date a woman? That's strange! And the woman ran away, or was she scared away by Song Yun? Fine..."
After hanging up the phone, Xia Yan looked up and was met with her childhood friend's curious and gossipy gaze:
"Xia Yan, what's wrong with Song Yun? Why is he interested in women?"
"Oh dear, after getting lost, he met his soulmate. He kissed her without saying a word, which scared her away. Now he's looking for her everywhere."
Xia Yan leaned lazily against the sofa, thinking that the news of the Song family looking for someone couldn't be kept secret any longer, so she simply told them.
"Damn, is Song Yun crazy? Who pursues girls like that? It's terrifying. Xia Yan, you can't be like him when you meet someone you like in the future."
Xia Yan relaxed: "How could that be? She's so timid."
Love and sex are inseparable for adults; heaven knows how much he's been holding back these past few days.
When Xiao Lu was sent, An Xin nodded with relief: "Okay, that's good."
After he finished speaking, an eerie silence fell over the air.
No! What do you mean she's so timid?
"Xia Yan? You actually have a girlfriend?"
Sensing something amiss in his words, Lu Shi'an abruptly jumped up from the soft, comfortable sofa, staring wide-eyed at Xia Yan sitting opposite him.
His eyes held excitement, astonishment, and an undisguised curiosity.
Everyone in the compound knows that Xia Yan is so obsessed with cleanliness that she's prepared to live a lonely life.
Seeing that he didn't refute, Lu Shi'an had many questions to ask, but in the end, he sat back down on the sofa, opened his mouth, and managed to utter these two or three sentences:
"What girl could possibly catch your eye? You've kept it a secret for a long time. How long have you been together? Aren't you going to introduce her to everyone?"
"It's not even close to being official yet. And she's not even in our circle. Once the relationship is officially established, we'll introduce you to her."
Thinking of a girl as timid as a rabbit, Xia Yan's lips involuntarily curved upwards like a spring breeze, outlining a faint sweetness.
Lu Shi'an was truly shocked. Who was Xia Yan? The youngest son of the Xia family, who could have anything he wanted.
It turns out he was the one pursuing the girl, and he was doing it so cautiously, timidly, and humbly?
This is truly something I've never seen before.
He couldn't wait to see the woman who would win Xia Yan's heart.
She must be incredibly beautiful, with a face that could topple kingdoms, a beauty that could make fish fall from the sky and geese fall in love with her, and a beauty that could shame the moon and flowers, to be able to make the young master Xia, who has a severe case of mysophobia, fall so in love with her.
The next morning, Jiang You got up early and went to Xia Yan's house.
Upon entering the house, one sees a man leisurely reclining in a rocking chair by the French windows, reading a book.
He wore a retro-style patchwork loose short-sleeved shirt and black casual pants that reached his knees, revealing a section of smooth and delicate calves, giving him a youthful look.
Hearing the sound, Xia Yan turned his head to look at the girl, his amber eyes instantly lingering on her dark eyes.
He leisurely stood up and walked towards Jiangyou, casually tossing the book onto the table as he passed it.
With a half-smile on his thin lips, he said in an ambiguous tone, "Jiang You, you've arrived."
Standing too close, Jiang You smelled the unique fruity fragrance of a young man. Her face flushed, she nodded and said shyly, "Um, what do you want to eat? I'll go buy some groceries right now."
“I want to pick it myself, you come with me,” Xia Yan said, his gaze sweeping over the petite girl with a casual yet natural expression.
"Oh, okay," Jiang You said impatiently, wanting to get away from the boy, otherwise his heart couldn't take it.
The moment she turned around, Xia Yan noticed the red mark on the girl's neck, and his smiling eyes suddenly darkened.
Jiang's right wrist was suddenly grabbed high, her back was slammed against the wall, and a hand was placed on her neck.
She was startled and looked up at the man who was so close to her. Her breath caught in her throat, and her heart pounded like a drum.
No different from it, Xia Yan's expression was too gloomy, but his eyes were very calm, too calm.
"Xia, Xia Yan?"
One hand was forced to be raised above his head and pressed against the wall, while his knee was firmly pressed against the center of his thigh, making it impossible for him to break free.
The young man's thin lips curved into a smile, and his voice, incredibly tender, whispered in her ear:
"Youyou, be good, come here and tell me, what is this?"
"What? What are you saying?" Jiang You was terrified.
Xia Yan pressed his thumb heavily on the red mark, but fearing he might hurt the girl, he could only gently circle it with his fingertip.
The moment I saw the hickey, the anger in my heart surged like a raging tide.
In that brief moment, a thought crossed his mind: he didn't want this girl anymore.
But as soon as the thought crossed his mind, he felt someone holding an extremely sharp blade, mercilessly cutting every inch of his flesh and bone. The pain was like being slowly sliced to death, making him almost suffocate, and he even felt that he would die in the next second.
Perhaps he has truly fallen deeply into the river called "love," and will willingly sink to the bottom of the river forever.
But that's so unfair. Why should he be the only one to fall in love, while Jiang You can stroll leisurely along the riverbank as if nothing's wrong?
This stark contrast tore his heart apart, almost shattering his remaining rationality. He desperately wanted to grab the girl's ankle, drag her into the water, and sink together into the river called love.
“Xia Yan…”
The girl's trembling, frightened voice pulled Xia Yan back to his senses.
He released her, blinked, and a harmless smile appeared on his handsome face: "I'm sorry, I saw the red mark on your neck and thought you had some kind of infectious disease."
Jiang You was taken aback. Thinking of the marks left on her by the man in the hoodie yesterday, she quickly shook her head and explained, "No, I don't have any infectious diseases. I can go for a medical check-up and show you the report."
Although she was very scared just now, she didn't want to lose this ridiculously high-paying job because of these unfounded accusations, if the boy had a legitimate reason.
"I just checked, and I know you don't have it. I'm sorry, but there have been cases in our industry where a private chef had an infectious disease, which led to the whole family getting infected, so I was a little anxious."
Xia Yan could lie without batting an eye, and Jiang You believed her without a doubt, because there were indeed cases of chefs around her who had contracted infectious diseases and infected customers.
"I understand, I understand," she breathed a sigh of relief. It's normal for rich people to be more careful about their lives.
"Then let's go to the supermarket," Xia Yan thoughtfully opened the door and let the girl go first.
"Oh, um," Jiang You said, his head bowed, the panic in his eyes still lingering.
She went out still shaken; the boy had been terrifying, as if she were about to be disemboweled at any moment.
Fortunately, it was just a misunderstanding.
It's no wonder she thought that way. Xia Yan did have a momentary urge to take her right there and then pack her up and send her to a private island abroad to play with at his leisure.
But they gave up the next second, not because of the law.
After all, if the law were effective, what about the wife the mountain man claimed ran away from home—was she murdered or did she really run away? Did she drink paraquat voluntarily or was she forced to? Was that male celebrity's death voluntary or murder?
Whether it's black or white depends on how it's done.
He kidnapped Jiang You and sent him abroad, then had his swelled body retrieved and given to Jiang You's parents, claiming he had drowned. Even if they didn't believe him, a series of evidence, DNA, and authoritative police testimony left them no choice but to believe.
After paying compensation for the cremation, the girl named Jiang You died in this world.
It was extremely simple; for Xia Yan, it wasn't even a problem.
But he was unwilling because he wanted Jiang You to submit to him both physically and mentally.
I want to introduce myself to my friends, my parents, my brother, and everyone else. I want to be like a normal person, get married, have children, and grow old together.
