Chapter Thirty-Five: Beijing
The bored and reclusive people of Jiangyou have no idea where there are fun places to go.
She took Lu Shi'an on the bus and visited free botanical gardens, parks, and museums...
After having lunch and resting for a while, the two started strolling around again until the afternoon, when the sun was about to set.
"Jiang You!"
She turned around and heard a click. Then she saw Lu Shi'an's exceptionally bright eyes behind the camera, filled with laughter.
"You're taking pictures again?"
She doesn't like being photographed because, in real life, she looks like an ordinary passerby, but in front of a camera, she always feels ugly and cries because she doesn't know if it's the angle.
But Lu Shi'an is different. He takes such beautiful photos that I felt uncomfortable at first, but after a while, I got used to it.
He even sent photos back to us; why not take a free photo?
"Jiangyou, I saw a sign outside saying there's a fireworks show in the square at 8 pm. Let's watch it and then go back." Lu Shi'an put away his camera and said with a grin, "Let's go have dinner first."
Jiang You met his brown eyes and, whether it was her imagination or not, she felt there was an inexplicable emotion in them.
She shook her head inwardly, trying to shake off the strange feeling.
At 8 p.m., the square was crowded with people. The two had arrived too late and could only stand on the outside.
Immediately afterwards, a giant golden chrysanthemum proudly bloomed high in the sky, its dazzling petals stretching out in all directions, illuminating the night as if it were daytime.
This is the first time I've seen such beautiful fireworks in Jiangyou. They're nothing like the fireworks we set off for Chinese New Year back home.
Before she could recover from the shock, several more fireworks went off into the sky.
Some streaked across the sky like pink shooting stars with long tails; others resembled blue hydrangeas bursting open in the air, scattering countless shimmering ribbons of light; still others looked like purple waterfalls, cascading down with magnificent momentum.
Lu Shi'an was not very interested. He had seen fireworks like this since he was a child, but there were things that were even more beautiful than fireworks.
The girl tilted her head back, took out her phone to take pictures of the fireworks, her eyes sparkling, her nose small and cute, and her lips very alluring.
It looks good no matter how you look at it, I can't take my eyes off it.
"Jiang You, I'm leaving for Beijing tomorrow."
The surrounding area was bustling with noise. Jiang You was taking photos and videos with her phone. She heard Lu Shi'an talking, but she couldn't make out what he was saying, so she could only respond vaguely.
“The current Nan’en University was formerly Huang Ling Military Academy. In the future, Nan’en University will definitely be the first choice for the appointment and promotion of cadres. Xia Yan’s branch of the family has few offspring. If something happens to his brother, he will have to take over.”
"So he seems free, but every step he takes is paved for him. If you follow him, your future will be very difficult. I'm different. I have many family members, and my monthly fund dividends are enough for me to live on. I don't have much pressure..."
At that moment, the fireworks stopped, and the crowd was quiet for a few seconds. Jiang You lowered his eyes and checked the photos in his album, planning to send them to his parents and roommates later.
"Jiang You, if I had met you before Xia Yan, would we have been boyfriend and girlfriend?"
These words reached Jiang You's ears completely. She looked up in surprise, and the young man looked into her eyes, leaned down and kissed her lips.
A new round of fireworks burst forth, and amidst the bustling crowd, witnessed by the dazzling fireworks, Lu Shi'an cupped the girl's face in his hands, kissing her more deeply with each kiss.
I love you, Jiangyou.
On the way back to school, the atmosphere was eerily quiet. When the girl arrived at the school, she rushed inside without looking back.
Lu Shi'an stood there and chuckled softly. The dim streetlights emitted an orange glow, like a thin veil gently enveloping him. But in an instant, the smile on his face returned to calm, leaving only a sense of powerlessness at things not going as planned.
"Jiang You, where have you been? Why is your face so red?"
Jiang You opened the dormitory door absentmindedly. Wang Lili, who was watching anime, glanced back at her and saw that her eyes were glazed over and her face was burning red.
"I...I went to the seaside square to watch the fireworks, but I got scrambled by the crowds. I need to take a shower first, I'm filthy..."
"Oh, there, they do it every two years," Wang Lili, a local, was already tired of seeing it, so she just asked casually before turning back to watch the anime.
Jiang You took the change of clothes and went into the bathroom. He saw her in the small mirror. Her lips were slightly swollen, her face was flushed and she looked ethereal. She seemed to be walking on cotton, floating and dreaming.
It's hard to believe, but in the past two months, I, who have been single since I was nineteen, have kissed three handsome men.
So why did Lu Shi'an kiss her? Although the kiss was pretty good, her tongue was soft, her mouth smelled nice, and there was a hint of mint. No, the point is, Lu Shi'an doesn't like her!
I still remember the way he looked me up and down when we first met, the disappointment in his eyes, and his undisguised admiration for the beautiful woman.
Therefore, she deduced that Lu Shi'an didn't kiss her because he liked her; there must be a reason behind it.
Was it a prank? It's quite possible given his personality, but isn't it too much of a sacrifice for him to kiss an ordinary girl like her?
Or perhaps Lu Shi'an likes Xia Yan! Doesn't he love all beautiful people and things? So, seeing that Xia Yan has a girlfriend, he's thinking of seducing her and making her break up with Xia Yan?
Jiang You's mind was in complete turmoil. After taking a shower, she lay on her side on the bed, looking at her phone.
My WeChat contact list is overflowing with new messages.
Xia Yan messaged her saying he had arrived in Beijing and sent her pictures of the city's scenery and his home.
Lu Shian sent a message saying goodnight.
Song Wenxi sent her a message saying that her brother would be arriving at Tengzhong Normal University in a couple of days and asked her to take good care of him.
Forget it, don't think about Young Master Lu anymore. The two of them might never see each other again. She won't lose out. Jiang touched her lips with her right hand, comforting herself.
The next day, she began packing her things and making trip after trip to move to the new dormitory.
The new dormitory is more than twice the size of the old one, with a separate toilet and shower room, a large balcony, and electrical outlets next to the balcony where you can cook.
Cheng Pandi moved in yesterday. Today, instead of going to school, I helped her move her things.
Bai Qianyue got a boyfriend yesterday. I heard he goes to the international school next door. When her boyfriend heard that she was moving dorms, he came over today to help her move her luggage.
Wang Lili was rich, so she hired two people to help her move.
And so, all the residents of dormitory 301 were relocated.
In Beijing, at the Xia family compound, Xia Yan was only allowed to enter after being searched by armed soldiers at the gate.
"Uncle Liu, where are Grandpa and Grandpa?" He handed the luggage to Uncle Liu and looked around. "And where's my brother? Didn't he arrive a while ago? I haven't seen him."
