Chapter 229

Chapter 229

Jiang You lowered his eyes: "I will not marry you."

I never expected to wait so long only to hear her say this. Was this the prey's last desperate struggle? Theodore crouched beside her, resting his chin on his hand with amusement. "Oh dear, oh dear," he thought, "isn't this just walking right into my control freak brother's trap?"

He slightly raised his gaze to look at his brother.

“Oh?” Lindbergh Theodore raised an eyebrow. “Sure.”

Jiang You, who had given up hope, suddenly looked up, seemingly unable to believe that the surprise had come so suddenly; she felt a little dizzy.

I was prepared to be rejected.

"Really?"

“Really,” Lindbergh Theodore looked at her. “I’ve said before that I never force anyone.”

"Then I'm leaving!" She stood up from the ground.

Theodore's composed expression vanished instantly. He stood up, his hand unconsciously turning the pinky ring, his brows furrowing.

He didn't like Jiang You using the word "leave," which made his heart ache, like the astringent sourness of a lemon.

It was a strange and novel feeling. He used to love things that were different, but he didn't like sour foods, so he didn't like this feeling.

Lindbergh Theodore stared at Jiang You: "We never stopped you from leaving."

Jiang You was taken aback, but his excitement quickly subsided, and he tentatively made a request: "I need a cell phone."

"Ah, you need a phone?" Lindbergh Theodore's indifferent eyes suddenly softened, his gaze curving slightly, and his tone became gentle: "Why should I lend it to you?"

If there were levels, she would be like a level 7 newbie in the village who accidentally stumbled into the territory of a level 99 boss, and there were two level 99 twin bosses at that.

There was nothing she could do. She hadn't done anything wrong; it was the other person who had been doing these terrible things to her, and yet she wasn't even allowed to show anger in front of them.

Jiang You's voice was somewhat hoarse and dry, even bordering on ingratiating: "This place is surrounded by the sea, and there are no boats around. I can't leave."

“Ah,” Lindbergh Theodore said suddenly, blinking slowly, “that’s your problem, Miss Jiang.”

There was absolutely no surprise. Jiang You opened his mouth, looking at them, who were nonchalant and aloof, and suddenly felt like going crazy.

Her curses were poised to burst forth, but after glancing at the drops of blood on the ground, she suddenly felt as if someone had choked her, and she couldn't utter a single word.

What happened the last time Lindbergh Theodore slapped her and bit her when he tried to put his finger in her mouth? Someone else was punished in her place.

Despite being such a useless person, capable only of powerless rage against them, she wasn't even given this much resistance.

Although Lindbergh Theodore said he wouldn't hurt her, she knew perfectly well that it was her ability that protected her from harm. Without her ability, she would be... no, she should still be at school worrying about homework and what to eat for lunch.

Have no conscience, go crazy without restraint, she won't get hurt anyway.

What does it have to do with the women who are implicated? She's not the one who hurt them.

After thinking about it, she realized she couldn't do it. Indeed, she was different from them, unable to fit in, because she was seen as a normal person by the world.

“It’s dinner time,” Lindbergh Theo said, glancing down at his silver-gold watch, “Would you like to have dinner together?”

Jiang You swallowed the curse he wanted to utter, walked past them, and headed outside, not even daring to glare at anyone.

As Lindbergh Theodore said, he never forced anyone; she didn't eat with them, and he didn't say anything.

Jiang You left the castle and, unwilling to give up, went to the reef. It was still the height of summer, and at five in the afternoon the sky was still bright, showing no sign of darkening.
