Chapter 5 Girls shouldn't casually invite men home

Seeing the worried look in Wu Tina's eyes, Lorraine hesitated for a moment, then smiled warmly and replied in a relaxed tone, "It's nothing, I was just in a good mood once in a while, so I wanted to indulge myself a little. I'm sorry to have worried you, I'm fine... Did you just get out of school?"

"Um."

"It's getting late, remember to go home early. Girls should try not to go home too late."

"Brother Lin, are you... trying to get rid of me?"

"Huh? No, why would you suddenly think that?"

Lorraine's smile remained unchanged.

But Wu Tina replied firmly, "So you must have run into some trouble, Brother Lin. Sometimes I can tell when you're lying."

"Huh? Really?"

"A person in a good mood wouldn't show such a sad expression just now."

"Did it still slip up? Haha."

"If... if you don't mind, you can come to me with anything that's bothering you. If it's Brother Lin, I'll listen carefully. And... if there's anything I can do to help, I'll try my best."

"I mustered up my courage and said."

Lorraine's expression shifted slightly, and this time her smile was much more genuine, less insincere.

"Thank you, Butina. Sometimes, just hearing you say that makes me so happy."

"I... I didn't do anything special, Brother Lin, you're exaggerating."

Wu Tina scratched her head somewhat embarrassedly.

However, this expression of gratitude only strengthened her resolve to help the other person, just as they had always cared for her in the past.

After glancing around briefly, Wu Tina noticed the empty seat next to Lorraine. She hesitated for a moment, but then mustered her courage and asked, "Um... Brother Lin."

"Um?"

"Can I sit next to you for a bit? You know... I think it might be better to chat like this, haha."

"Oh, if you want to sit, then sit down."

"Really? Then I won't be polite, hehe."

Having received permission, Wu Tina politely stepped forward.

And during the time she walked over.

Lorraine even took out a tissue from her pocket and wiped the dust off the bench for her so as not to get the other woman's clothes dirty.

Upon noticing this action, Wu Tina couldn't help but feel a little happy.

"Alright, please have a seat."

"Thank you, Brother Lin."

——

After sitting down.

Perhaps because the two were sitting quite far apart, Wu Tina deliberately moved a little closer to the other person. As the distance increased, the strong smell of alcohol emanating from the other person made her cough a few times, which was quite pungent.

Lorraine noticed.

"Sorry, I must smell really bad from alcohol. I'll sit a little further away."

Just as he was preparing to create distance.

But Wu Tina quickly waved her hand.

"Ah... it's okay. After all, Brother Lin is an adult. There's nothing wrong with boys liking to drink, so it's fine not to keep your distance."

"Okay, but if you feel uncomfortable, please tell me."

"Yes, I will."

Slightly shy, Wu Tina lowered her head, fiddling with her skirt with her small hands, watching the sunset, her elongated shadow gradually overlapping with the other person's.

That intimate distance touched her emotions, but she didn't dislike it.

An unconscious smile appeared on her lips.

"Wu Tina?"

"Huh? Ah!?—"

Hearing Lorraine's voice beside her, Wu Tina suddenly came to her senses, flustered and as if she had done something wrong.

Seeing her flustered appearance, Lorraine asked with amusement.

"You've been keeping your head down and not saying anything just now, did something unpleasant happen at the academy?"

"No, today is just an ordinary day, nothing special happened."

"Ordinary is good, ordinary is good. Being able to enjoy an ordinary day is also a kind of happiness."

"Brother Lin, you're so strange. Can spending an ordinary day really be called happiness?"

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, Wu Tina."

"I don't really understand."

Wait a moment.

Something's not right.

Wu Tina suddenly realized that the reason she sat down was to help Brother Lin solve his troubles and listen to his worries.

How did it turn out that I became the one being cared for?

——

Realizing this, Wu Tina asked again.

"Brother Lin, what trouble have you encountered? Can you tell me? Oh... um... if I've been meddling, I'll apologize, sob, I'm sorry."

"Actually, it's nothing serious."

"Since it's not a big deal, it shouldn't hurt to tell me, right?"

"It's just that my house was blown up."

"Oh, I see. So your house was blown up...wait, what???"

Wu Tina was stunned for a moment.

Wait a minute, what did she just hear?

"Brother Lin, what... what does it mean that the house was blown up?!"

Wu Tina excitedly pressed for an answer.

Compared to the peaceful Lorraine, she seemed to be the one whose home was blown up.

Lorraine laughed.

"Today I encountered a magical girl fighting an evil organization, and a stray bullet landed right on top of my little house. And then... *poof!* My little house was blown to smithereens, even my underwear that I just washed last night was blasted away and fell like snowflakes. Ouch, what a tragedy!"
