Chapter 90 Hospital Resident Trainees (8)
Bai Ye had imagined the scene when he entered the ward, where he was about to face a patient who had undergone a strange change, or what could be called eerie.
It was a super-duper giant python capable of swallowing other people whole.
As far as I can remember, it was about the size of an anaconda in the Amazon.
However, the truth was that on the empty hospital bed, in front of a pile of snow-white pillows, a tiny black snake, about the thickness of a little finger and shimmering with light, was coiled up with its head tilted back, leisurely flicking its tongue.
white night:"……"
Can this thing swallow a person whole?
Just as I was looking on in confusion, the snake on the pillow made its move first, slithering over and suddenly leaping up to be as tall as a person.
Bai Ye immediately stepped back, but heard a deep voice say, "What are you afraid of? You and I don't look alike."
"?"
"Look at you, your scales aren't as shiny as mine, your snake head isn't as distinctive as mine, you're round, I'm triangular, and I'm more venomous than you."
"..."
"What's so great about being fat? Generally speaking, pythons are the most useless creatures; all they do is swallow. Unlike me, if I spit out even a single drop of my venom, a person will die without a burial place."
"No! What makes you think I'm the same as you? We're completely different species!"
Bai Ye, for some unknown reason, got so passionate that he insisted on arguing with a snake.
In the heat of the debate, he turned around and saw himself in the mirror with a human body and a snake's head, flicking his tongue.
Holy crap!
Bai Ye was startled. "How did I become such a grotesque figure?"
The little black snake said smugly, "That's how you've always looked."
As soon as he finished speaking, the lower half of his human form slowly transformed into a snake's tail. It was indeed a large, fat, and thick python, entirely green.
"Any pythons found, any mutated patients, arrest them immediately and put them back in their cages!" A voice rang out from outside the ward.
Bai Ye was extremely nervous and was trying to think of the best way to explain, but the door had already opened first.
Four security guards rushed in, bypassed Bai Ye, and pounced on one of the hospital beds.
It was such a tiny snake, yet the four security guards struggled so much to catch it, finally carrying the ethereal snake away with great difficulty.
Bai Ye saw the little black snake leisurely draped over one of the security guards' shoulders, occasionally flicking its tongue to touch the guard's neck.
Nobody cares about him!
Bai Ye was confused; logically, the security guard should have taken him away instead.
"Dr. Bai, you're so brave! Such a big python, and you're not afraid at all," a nurse said to Bai Ye as she walked in and tidied the room.
Bai Ye pointed to himself, then looked at the other person, and then turned to look in the mirror.
The person in the mirror was indeed a large green python, but the nurses didn't react at all.
"So, neither the nurses nor the patients could see anything unusual about me?"
"What do you mean the same? Do you have the same data?" Kong Yuehan looked up in surprise.
Bai Ye snapped out of her thoughts, shook her head, and said, "No, I was just muttering to myself."
Kong Yuehan understood, pushed her chair back, and rubbed her sore neck. "By the way, I heard from the nurses outside that you showed heroic spirit in the ward and helped hold down a mutant patient."
"Huh? Ah! I guess so."
"No need to be modest, you are indeed very brave. If it were me, I would never dare to go in alone. I heard that the mutated patient's entire python is five meters long and thick, and a strong adult man cannot wrap his arms around it."
Kong Yuehan paused, thought for a moment, and then said in a heavy tone, "However, I'm afraid the other patient who was swallowed alive cannot be saved."
"Kong Yuehan," Bai Ye suddenly called out.
"What?"
"What do I look like to you?" Bai Ye asked.
Kong Yuehan was stunned, then laughed and said, "I think you're an idiot."
Bai Ye opened his mouth, but didn't know what to say.
Kong Yuehan gulped down a mouthful of bitter black coffee, then took a big gulp of extremely sour lemonade before immersing herself back in her studies.
Bai Ye sat alone in his seat, his mind filled with questions.
Nothing much happened for the next two days.
On the evening of the third day, Lin An assessed the two trainees to check their learning progress.
Kong Yuehan passed with a high score and was recognized.
As for Bai Ye, he barely passed and received another "earnest" lecture.
Finally, Lin An waved his hand and let the people go back.
Before leaving, Lin An once again instructed, "You can communicate with those two resident trainees, but you must not disclose any specific case information."
The competitive spirit between the two sides is becoming increasingly intense.
On the way back, Kong Yuehan suddenly asked, "Bai Ye, do you want Ding Yue and the others' information?"
How did you know?
Bai Ye blurted out, realizing he had revealed his thoughts as soon as he finished speaking, but he didn't hide it, "Yes, I really want to exchange ideas with you. I always feel that the materials that Teacher Lin showed us are not very complete."
Kong Yuehan nodded, "That's right, I feel the same way. Some of the content lacks evidence."
"and you……"
"It can't be done openly."
Kong Yuehan spoke in a serious tone, but Bai Ye had already laughed and nodded in agreement, "Yes, we should listen to our teacher."
A month later, during a rare national holiday, the inpatient department only required one doctor to be on duty, and the resident trainees were allowed to rest for one day.
All four were studious individuals, and instead of going out for leisure, they stayed in their dormitory studying medical materials.
When Bai Ye received Kong Yuehan's message, he knew that no one was in their dormitory on that floor.
So he looked up at the opposite side, coughed twice, and said, "Kong Yuehan ordered barbecue and wants us to go eat at her place. Do you want to come?"
"Is she treating or splitting the bill?" Ding Yue asked, looking up.
Bai Ye: "...She's not stingy. She brought it up herself, so how could we possibly split the bill?"
Ding Yue: "Well, I'm sorry, but in that case, we'll move this case of drinks from our dorm to their place."
The drinks were freshly bought; they were all sparkling fruit juices, and Zhang Tao and Ding Yue paid for them.
Bai Ye had only made up an excuse, and now he felt that he wasn't very socially savvy. He opened the drawer, rummaged through it, and put several large bags of potato chips and candy into a bag.
"You're really something," Ding Yue said, bursting into laughter.
Bai Ye wasn't embarrassed at all. "It's just a small token of my appreciation."
Kong Yuehan lived alone in her dormitory. The three boys were initially a little embarrassed when they went over, but when they found that her dormitory had a metallic feel to it and was even more cold and indifferent than their own, they immediately relaxed.
They ate and drank, and their enthusiasm gradually grew.
I've been a resident trainee for over two months now, and I've experienced countless hardships.
We're all on the same page, starting from the same point, and we can really relate to each other when we're gossiping and complaining.
As they got more into the conversation, Ding Yue and Zhang Tao started spitting as they talked about their mentor's "inhumanity" and their own miserable lives.
"Bai Ye, of the four of us, you have the most comfortable life."
Whether Bai Ye can stay or not is unknown, but he will definitely not feel stifled during his time as a resident trainee.
Bai Ye, who sees a snake's head popping out of her head every day when she looks in the mirror: "..." You have no idea what I'm suffering in!
But getting back to the main point, Bai Ye brought up the topic of sharing information.
Upon hearing this, the two men immediately sobered up. Good heavens, they were setting up a barbecue feast here!
Ding Yue and Zhang Tao exchanged a glance but remained silent.
Kong Yuehan had already pulled out three notebooks from the drawer, each one thick and heavy, and threw them on the table with a "thud".
"Learning is for progress. I think both teachers are very good, but they are too attached to their own camps, which is not conducive to the dissemination of knowledge. Our ultimate goal in studying medicine is to treat and save lives. Even if we don't stay at the Sixth Hospital, it's the same if we go to other hospitals."
"To be honest, because of my variant disease, my desire to stay is even stronger. But I hope even more that we can all learn something during our three years of residency training."
Resident trainees already have a tough job, but it's even worse if they waste three years doing nothing.
"They've already suffered so much, why can't they learn some skills? They're unwilling to share because of their own stances, but why should we have to learn? We don't have any stances or factions to begin with."
Seeing that the two were still hesitating, Kong Yuehan pushed the notebook over and said, "Take a look first, and then make a decision."
Half an hour later, Ding Yue and Zhang Tao got up and went back to their dormitory to get their notes.
Bai Ye had brought them over early in the morning, and now they were out in the open. Taking advantage of the two of them leaving, he asked, "Are you so sure they're willing to make the exchange?"
"Do you remember the sports meet in your junior year?" Kong Yuehan asked.
Bai Ye looked bewildered, but then heard the other person say, "We are competitors with Ding Yue's class, especially in the last rescue relay race. Our two classes were only 0.3 points apart. But in the last leg, a classmate of ours suddenly had a heart attack. Ding Yue and Zhang Tao could have overtaken him, but they gave up the race and rescued him on the spot."
At the competition venue, there was a school doctor present, and the instructors were also leading figures in the medical field. It's fair to say that the medical school had no shortage of medical resources.
"There's absolutely no need for those two medical students, but their subconscious reactions best illustrate human nature."
Ding Yue and Zhang Tao are both inherently kind.
As Kong Yuehan brought it up, Bai Ye's "memories" slowly surfaced, and then he tragically discovered that the person who had suffered a sudden heart attack was actually himself.
"Kong Yuehan, the person who fell to the ground is me." This guy doesn't even remember who his classmate is.
Kong Yuehan was confused, then belatedly realized, "It's you? I don't remember you. I thought you were in good health. I'm sorry, I only saw the two of them saving people."
white night:"……"
As the two were talking, Ding Yue and Zhang Tao returned.
All four of them spread out their notebooks and began checking each item one by one, filling in the information for each other.
Bai Ye gained the most; she finally found the answers to her previous questions in the other person's notes.
Just as he guessed, patients with mutated diseases eventually become bizarre, and based on the degree of mutation, they are divided into ordinary bizarre and advanced bizarre.
However, at the Sixth Hospital, there was no such thing as a strange occurrence; they still considered it to be a type of mental illness.
Bai Ye, however, did not think so. He clearly remembered that when he first entered the operating room, Lin Xiaojuan and the nurse had talked about something strange.
This suggests that bizarre perceptions do indeed exist among doctors.
So what's missing here?
Or is it that only senior doctors know the truth?
"Bai Ye, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and take notes. Let's not sleep tonight. The four of us will finish organizing all the notes," Zhang Tao suggested.
Ding Yue and Kong Yuehan strongly agreed, saying that efficiency is key in doing things, and this kind of work is just physical labor and doesn't require much brainpower.
Bai Ye: "..." Can you guys please stop being so complicated?
However, being weak and helpless, and with the minority having to obey the majority, Bai Ye couldn't take things slowly even if she wanted to.
The four of them continued to order takeout, then ordered late-night snacks, and finally even went downstairs to buy a can of black coffee, which they brewed and drank like water.
As midnight approached, Bai Ye was exhausted and slumped in her chair, unwilling to move.
He felt like he was about to die; his heart was pounding, and his soul felt like it was about to leave his body.
"I'm going to take a nap," Bai Ye mumbled, then tilted his head to the side and fell asleep on the table.
In a daze, he heard a sound, right next to his ear. And his arm felt cool, as if something sticky was sliding across it.
"Did you buy food again?" Bai Ye asked, still half asleep.
He had only opened his eyes halfway when he was suddenly confronted with a pair of bright green, triangular eyes.
"Ridiculous!"
Bai Ye was startled and woke up completely. He kicked his legs and pushed the chair back a long way.
Looking at the table in front of us, the three people who were originally gathered around it have now transformed into three different types of animals.
A green-eyed frog, as big as a washbasin, is holding a pen and writing, with one front leg raised.
A green bamboo viper, its tail wrapped around a pen, is reciting poetry while shaking its head.
Finally, there's a mantis shrimp with its body bent over, holding a pen between each of its two pincers, writing with both hands.
Bai Ye rubbed his eyes, unsure if he could look again.
My eyes are fine, but three alumni have disappeared.
"What the hell are you? Where did this weird thing come from? How did you suddenly appear?"
The three animals turned their heads in unison, their expressions even more horrified than Bai Ye's.
"A anaconda?"
"A giant python."
"Bai Ye has mutated!"
