Chapter 13 Wang Yinbao Burns Taohua Village

Then they dug a hole and buried them all.

Wang Yinbao is ten years old. Although he has begun to recognize words, he can't write much.

He found some stones, arranged them into different shapes, and placed them on top of the small pit.

He gripped the longevity lock around his neck tightly and swore in his heart that he would come back and rebury everyone when the time came!

When Wang Yinbao came out of his ruined home, he happened to see villagers coming down the mountain.

Four dusty children and two adults.

Wang Yinbao walked over and said thank you to Grandma Hua.

Then he turned around and left, carrying his small bag.

Widow Yang, holding her daughter, asked, "Aren't you going to hide in the mountains?"

Wang Yinbao shook his head and said, "I'm going to go find the village chief and the others."

Widow Yang was surprised when she heard this. "You are still a child, how can you catch up with the village chief?"

Wang Yinbao didn't know either. "But if we stay here, without water or food, we'll definitely die."

Liu Xiaohua had been listening nearby. She had long regretted not following the village chief.

But when I wanted to leave later, I couldn't catch up with the village chief and others.

The rivers and wells in the village have all dried up, as have the pools and springs in the mountains.

Staying in the village means death, sooner or later.

Liu Xiaohua held her two grandchildren's hands and said, "I'm going too. You come with me. I'm an adult after all."

The Wang family's grandson might have something valuable on him. If he wants to escape, he needs money.

Besides, I have done him a big favor, so asking for some money is not too much. Liu Xiaohua thought to herself.

When Widow Yang heard that Aunt Hua was also going, she immediately wanted to say that she would go too.

She has never had a strong opinion of her own. She used to listen to her husband and later to her mother-in-law.

But now, my mother-in-law is gone too.

Widow Yang was very scared. After all, Aunt Hua had lived longer than her and was definitely more powerful than her.

But just as Widow Yang was about to speak, she was pulled back by her own son.

Widow Yang's son, Yang An, said, "We won't leave. We'll hide in the mountains."

Liu Xiaohua didn't care. This widow Yang was even poorer than her own family and had a three-year-old daughter, so it was better not to follow her.

All she wanted was Wang Yinbao.
