Chapter 17 Night Kill

The situation in Buffalo Village is similar to that in Woniu Village; otherwise, the two villages wouldn't be fighting back and forth over water and land. Today's brawl was an accident, but it wasn't entirely unexpected either.

"The rest of the money is here; you can check the count."

The masked man tossed silver to Mang Dali, who had punched Gou'er of Woniu Village earlier that day. The latter looked very young, about fifteen or sixteen years old. He had been a prodigy last year and was now a semi-martial artist, which could be considered a gift.

"It felt good, but it wasn't enough!"

Mang Dali weighed the money bag in his hand, but instead of opening it, he continued to demand money from the man in black.

"The amount is what we agreed on beforehand, so don't be greedy!"

The man in black's tone turned unfriendly, showing utter contempt for Mang Dali's last-minute change of heart.

"It was agreed before that you only wanted me to put in some effort in the fight with Woniu Village. It would be fine if I fought ordinary people, but that idiot knows people in the city. That's money I'm paying to save my life!"

Mang Dali's actions were not impulsive; someone had found him six months ago and all he needed to do was hide his deadly move during a village-to-village brawl.

It's normal for people to die in village brawls, since they've already signed the petition and gone to court. As long as they don't die on the spot, there's always a way to smooth things over. But will it be the same this time?

The dead person knew a very important person!

"Looks like you do know how to gather intelligence. I just don't know if you deliberately went on stage after you already knew, or if you found out after the battle."

"But since you're here asking for money, you must not be afraid of that person. After all, a guy who got lucky can go anywhere with money, right?"

Upon hearing this, the man in black's hostility turned into mockery towards this person who knew the situation.

"Afraid? Why should I be afraid? He's just a lucky guy. If he can leave, why can't I? In the end, you don't take him seriously at all, do you?"

"Give me the money, and I'll leave without a word. If you don't, kill me, and then he'll hear about your affair! Let's see how many people you can kill!"

Mang Dali spoke with great confidence. Just then, the man in black took out a new bag of money and threw it to Mang Dali. When the latter opened it, it was gold!

"Great! Alright! We're off! Just pretend I was talking nonsense before!"

Mang Dali grinned, then waved and swaggered away, completely unafraid that the men in black behind him would try to kill him.

After Mang Dali left, another man in black emerged from the bushes.

“Even two small villages have so many twists and turns; I really couldn’t help but kill him just now.”

The man in black who started first shook his wrist, and his voice suddenly became crisp, but with a hint of impatience.

"Great men cherish their lives, small men cherish their lives, and then it is the lowest of the low who suffer."

"But it did give us a way to check if that person with the pretentious name was actually from the same graveyard as last time."

The second man in black clarified the mission: as an organization that hunts and prepares meat, they crave these wild members of their kind.

"Killed?"

"Catch them, then drug them."

"That's true, otherwise they wouldn't have sent us. But will that person really come? What if they can guess?"

"Let's see if there's anything wrong with the bait."

The man in black spoke in a low voice, which could only be heard clearly at close range, but they ignored the insects in the darkness around them, one of which gently flapped its wings and flew away.

One kilometer away, Dao Chengyi sat on a tall tree, holding a grass sword Gu that had begun to gleam with a metallic sheen. Five poisonous Gu, mainly composed of spiders, surrounded him, dealing with the insects and mosquitoes of the night.

Dao Chengyi refined a total of five Gu: snake, spider, gecko, toad, and centipede, planning to combine them into a new second-stage Five Poison Gu after they had grown to a certain level.

His purpose here now was to prepare something for that reckless man, and to find out if that organization was involved.

The offspring of the Sound-Listening Gu slowly flew back, bringing with it the information Dao Chengyi needed to confirm: the organization had indeed sent people to participate.

But they weren't the main participants; rather, it was a matter between the two villages, which was rather strange, since the leaders of the two villages didn't seem to have any animosity or conflict.

Which landlord was it?

Dao Chengyi looked back at the landlords in the Woniu Triangle. They were very traditional three generations of landlords. His grandfather's generation had accumulated some meager land by joining the army. After returning, he bought several plots of land and expanded his wealth by acquiring more land during several mountain earthquakes and disasters.

If we're talking about grudges, the village chief of Woniu Village does have a grudge against the landlord. Niu Fen's older brother was beaten to death by his landlord father for stealing grain. Later, Niu Fen became the village chief based on his seniority, but he couldn't do much against the landlord.

Niu Fen's son was promising, but unfortunately he died young. His son was also capable, but the landlord's sons were more successful, after all, their family wealth was there, in the martial arts school in the city.

They knew each other because the son worked at the Fushan Martial Arts School. They often visited each other and were quite close. They had also exchanged many gifts, such as land deeds from the village.

Although the landlord didn't send anyone to help the injured dog, he did send some top-quality ginseng and dog food.

Dao Cheng felt his brain wasn't working properly; based on today's performance, he couldn't quite figure out what kind of conspiracy was involved.

But if you can't figure it out, so be it. Aren't there two other people there who know the situation?

Ironically, they were there waiting for him to attack Mang Dali, but Dao Chengyi managed to succeed right in front of them.

One of the raw materials for the parasitic gu, the puppet gu, is mainly made from horsehair worms. Three days later, as long as that person dares to go on stage, Dao Chengyi will control the gu worms to beat him to death with punches. If he doesn't go on stage...
