Chapter 5: Survival Day 5 Are you also a Devil Fruit user? ...
Chapter 5: Fifth Day of Survival
Wendy actually hadn't decided whether to continue staying with her friends, but no matter what, she had to go to Rogue Town first.
Garp seemed to be worried at first, but he quickly returned to his usual state. I don't know if he was fine or if he was hiding something.
I heard that Garp and Roger, who was about to be executed, were also acquaintances. Wendy thought it should be the latter.
After arriving in Rogue Town, Wendy immediately said goodbye to Garp and prepared to go find the dragon.
Garp was stunned for a moment at the other party's anxious look, and hurriedly called out to Wendy who was about to leave: "Wait! Wendy! Do you have enough money on you? You can't find the dragon in one go!"
"Hmm?" Wendy stopped, turned to look at him, and smiled brightly, "No, I know where the dragon is!"
After saying this, she continued walking away at her own steady pace.
Garp was stunned as he watched this scene, his emotions indescribably complicated - so what exactly was the relationship between Long and Wendy... Why was there a kind of telepathic connection that was impossible to meddle with...
If Caputo asked more questions, Wendy would actually tell him honestly: It's the map, I opened the map.
The map function built into the Don't Starve system can display a detailed map of all the places Wendy has visited. Although the circled friends will not be directly displayed on the map... if the two are close to each other, there will be an icon prompt.
In other words, since they were in the same town, Wendy could sense the location of her friends.
She found Long in a tavern. When Long saw him, he was stunned for a moment, then stood up and pulled him outside, isolating him from the inquiring gazes of the group of people inside.
Long looked down at the unexpected little girl and felt a headache. He asked helplessly, "Wendy, why are you here?"
Wendy blinked: "Uncle Garp brought me here."
Long was silent for a moment, then asked, "Have you seen the letter I sent you?"
Wendy was confused and nodded: "I see."
…Looks like there's a communication problem again. —Long gathered himself together, squatted down, and whispered to the man, "How did you find me?"
He was not surprised that Wendy could come to Rogue Town to look for someone through Cap, but he was quite surprised that the other party came in and found him as if with a purpose.
Wendy smiled confidently when she heard that: "Because we are companions, I can feel it as long as you are around."
...Is it a fruit ability? This fruit ability is really too complicated! — Long sighed imperceptibly and declared seriously, "I'm glad you came to see me...but what I'm going to do next might be quite dangerous, so it's not convenient for me to bring you along."
Wendy didn't feel any negative emotions about the rejection; rather, she had already thought it through from the beginning. So, after a brief moment of reflection, she agreed. "I understand. Next time we meet, can you share the map you've explored with me?"
Long was slightly startled, and then his eyes softened a little, and his face, which looked fierce and serious, now had a hint of smile: "Okay, it's a deal."
"Well, it's a deal!" Wendy was satisfied, but then she remembered something and said seriously, "Oh, and by the way, you must always carry the snitch I gave you."
This is the most important thing. She can only rely on her friends to revive!
Long: "...Okay."
Wendy continued to instruct earnestly, "You should be careful too. Don't get into trouble. Get out of danger."
"Okay." Long laughed, then recalled the other party's behavior. His smile faltered, and he put on a serious expression as he began to instruct, "You too, your sister can fight, but that's really just your ability. If someone discovers something wrong and attacks you directly, you'll be in great danger."
"Yeah, I know. I'll wear armor during the battle, and I'll run away when my health is down to half," Wendy replied. "If I really die accidentally, I'll come find you."
Long: “…” Alas, although he has tried very hard, sometimes he really feels that there is a communication barrier with the little girl.
However, after talking it out with the little girl, Long finally put his mind at ease.
He had been with Wendy for so long, and he knew that with her special abilities and combat prowess, self-preservation wouldn't be a problem. Although Roger's incident had recently brought many talented individuals to Rogue Town, Wendy was just a seemingly fragile little girl, and she wouldn't cause trouble... well, at least he had told her before they parted, so nothing should happen.
After watching Wendy disappear, his originally gentle expression became much more solemn.
Roger's public execution may signal another shift in the world situation... I wonder if this time, will things be heading in a positive direction, or will new turmoil follow...
Long turned around, his cloak whipping up a breeze as he walked away in the opposite direction of Wendy.
As for Wendy...she decided to take this opportunity to thoroughly explore the map of Rogue Town.
After all, a title like "Hometown of One Piece" sounds very special! It must be a place where some special events unfold, or a place where special items can be collected!
Wendy, a little girl less than 1.5 meters tall, ran around in this place and attracted some attention, but not many eyes were on her and the eyes did not stay on her for long.
Most people just thought she was an ordinary little girl. Even when someone noticed her fearless face and continued running without getting tired or slowing down, no one bothered her. After all, everyone's mind was focused on one thing: tomorrow, the Pirate King Roger would be publicly executed.
Wendy was probably the person in this town who cared the least about this matter. To her, this matter was like a cutscene introducing the background of the world. She was not there to participate, but just to watch.
Instead, she paid more attention to the other people on the island - Long was gone, and she didn't plan to return to Windmill Village, so finding her next partner among the current group of people was the most important thing.
Night fell quickly. Wendy looked at the darkening sky and the map that had not been fully explored. She decided not to waste time and continued working at night.
Don't Starve's gameplay mechanics don't require sleep. Sleeping is a skill that rapidly depletes satiety to quickly restore health and sanity, requiring consumable items. Wendy won't sleep while her stats are still healthy; that's simply too much of a luxury.
When the night completely enveloped the town, Wendy continued to move forward in the town with a lantern. This lantern was sent by Long after he learned that she could not stay in the dark, because Long felt that it was not safe to keep a torch.
Wendy also liked this little lamp very much, and even used a space in her scarce parcel box to place the little lamp.
She encountered an unexpected situation while exploring at night.
It was a wailing sound coming from the alley, short and rapid, and then stopped abruptly.
A normal person would have realized the danger and turned and ran away. But this was Wendy.
Wendy opened her map and looked. Ahead lay pitch black, a territory she had yet to explore. She wasn't afraid. Even though she knew there might be danger, the thought of the dragon in town didn't faze her at all. At worst, she could just go find her friends and revive them!
The only problem is that your items will drop after you die... but it shouldn't be difficult to find a dragon to help you get your things back.
So, Wendy walked into the alley out of curiosity.
In the alley, the person lying on the ground was cut by the thin wire, and the person standing there... was a blond young man wearing sunglasses late at night.
He was dressed in a unique outfit, including a pink feather coat. He noticed Wendy and uttered a short, questioning sound through his nose: "Hmm?"
Wendy ignored this and stared at the translucent, almost invisible line on his hand for a while, then looked at the person on the ground. Then, with an expression of sudden enlightenment, she walked over happily and asked, "Are you also a Devil Fruit user?"
Because the newcomer's appearance and attitude were so unexpected, the young man did not attack. Instead, he watched the other party walk up to him, lowered his head to look at her, and said in an ambiguous tone: "Also? So... you too?"
"Yeah." Wendy nodded and asked directly, "Can you be my companion?"
The author has something to say:
----------------------
The second partner is online!
PS: According to the timeline, Turkey should only be 17 years old at this time, but his precocious appearance (…) I really can’t write about a teenager against my conscience, so I’ll just write about a young man! (…)
Wendy's idea is very simple: all devil fruit users are my potential companions.jpg
