"Really?" The woman clearly didn't believe Chen Zhou's words and asked again.
"Really," Chen Zhou said coldly.
"Don't waste my time, just tell me. What do you want?" The woman clearly still didn't believe her and asked again.
Chen Zhou was getting a little uncomfortable with the repeated questioning, so he directly retorted, "If you keep asking like this, you'll force even those of us who have no ill intentions towards you to reveal them. I've already said, all we need is information about this place."
Chen Zhou's repeated emphasis seemed to give the woman a boost of confidence, and she finally spoke slowly, "Are you really new residents?"
“Of course it’s true, but we can’t be considered residents yet. We can only be considered the first word, ‘new’,” Chen Zhou replied.
Now the woman was somewhat convinced and answered, "This is the eighth floor you mentioned. What exactly do you want to know?"
"Everyone says the burning ground is a bloody place, so why is this place like a paradise?" Chen Zhou asked.
"As for this question, it's only on the surface that this place appears peaceful. In reality, it's still a bloody and dark place. You can't even imagine the bloodshed on this eighth floor," the woman slowly replied.
"What do you mean?" Chen Zhou asked.
“The most precious thing on the eighth floor is food. People here will do anything to steal food; killing for food is commonplace. The reason we’ve survived is entirely because we’re still useful to them; we can still help them manage the crops here,” the woman said with a slight difficulty.
