The man who seemed to be the leader shook his head and then strode towards his brothers.
They have clearly given up.
After dodging the flames, Chen Zhou immediately withdrew his rootless fire. Once the flames were gone, Chen Zhou immediately felt that the fire had grown stronger and there was even a faint smell of burning.
It was clearly the smell of burning clothes.
As soon as Chen Zhou absorbed the flames back, those people were immediately freed from their fiery restraints, but many parts of their bodies were charred black, and some even fainted from the burns.
"Finally escaped." Yuan Ziyi said, panting heavily after escaping.
The two of them had clearly escaped from the place they had just left. Chen Zhou was running very fast, and Yuan Ziyi had to keep up with him. Moreover, Chen Zhou didn't seem to care about waiting for Yuan Ziyi. The power of Chen Zhou's Rootless Fire was something only Chen Zhou himself knew. If he ran too slowly, the flames might burn the people behind him to ashes.
Therefore, if Chen Zhou wants to rescue them, he must speed up his pace. If he is even a step too slow, the flames will burn them to ashes.
"Is this our direction, or this?" Chen Zhou asked, looking at Yuan Ziyi.
Although the two had taken a detour, there were now three paths in front of them. Chen Zhou didn't know which way to go, so he naturally had to ask Yuan Ziyi.
Using the light from Chen Zhou's flames, Yuan Ziyi quickly found a path and pointed to it, replying, "This is the path."
After that, Yuan Ziyi strode forward. The two of them had wasted a lot of time earlier, so they naturally had to hurry on their way. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to leave the mountain range even by dawn.
Their plan was to reach the foot of the mountain before dawn, then have a simple rest and breakfast before continuing their journey.
Finally, it was the same road we had taken before, a road that seemed to have no end in sight.
Once you finish that stretch of road, you will reach the capital.
So their plan is to arrive in the capital by noon tomorrow, assuming no unforeseen circumstances, such as the robbery they just encountered.
These unexpected events will undoubtedly delay their progress.
If they don't reach the foot of the mountain before dawn, they certainly won't be able to reach the capital by noon.
"Isn't there a way to determine the time of night?" Chen Zhou asked Yuan Ziyi. If Yuan Ziyi had a way to determine the time of day, then there must be a way to determine the time of night as well.
However, Chen Zhou was clearly unaware of this method.
“The method is the same as the method used during the day,” Yuan Ziyi replied.
"Look at the moon?" Chen Zhou asked subconsciously. If they looked at the sun during the day, then they looked at the moon at night. They would see if the moon was to their left or right. If it was to their left, it meant it was the first half of the night.
To the right, of course, is the second half of the night, which means another day.
Chen Zhou immediately looked towards the sky, following the method he had learned during the day. To his surprise, there were no stars in the night sky above the eighth level, but the moon was unusually large. Generally speaking, a moon this large should be surrounded by stars, but Chen Zhou couldn't see a single star at this moment.
If this is a clue, then it means that the sun and moon in this eighth layer are not actually the real sun and moon.
The moon was now just a little to the right of Chen Zhou's head, clearly indicating that it was already late at night, meaning it was a different day.
Chen Zhou estimated the distance they had covered in the mountain range; they had only traveled about a third of the way through it.
There are still two-thirds of the distance that Chen Zhou and his group need to cover.
"I don't think we'll be able to finish crossing this mountain before dawn," Chen Zhou said to Yuan Ziyi ahead of him.
They are still in the mountain climbing stage. To cross this mountain, they must first reach the top and then descend before they can completely traverse the mountain range.
So Chen Zhou now knows exactly the path Yuan Ziyi took. Now they only have one path in front of them. They just need to follow this path to the top of the mountain, and then choose a path down the mountain from the top.
In the end, Yuan Ziyi will still have to choose the path.
Chen Zhou had never been to such a mountain before, so everything had to be decided by Yuan Ziyi.
The two continued walking along the road.
Gradually, the sky began to brighten, and the sun slowly rose; they were now nearing their twilight.
However, we are still some distance from the bottom of the mountain.
It will take some time before we can completely leave the mountain and reach its foot.
Yuan Ziyi and Chen Zhou remained silent, focusing on their journey as talking would deplete their energy, and neither wanted to exhaust themselves for that reason.
Chen Zhou watched the moon set and the sun slowly rise for almost the entire time. Although a long time had passed, Chen Zhou didn't feel how much time had gone by, and he didn't even know how far he had walked.
All we know is that they crossed this mountain range and started walking down it, and are now nearing the foot of the mountain.
Time continued to pass, and the sun slowly rose. Watching the sun rise, Chen Zhou and the others finally reached the foot of the mountain.
