However, Chen Zhou also witnessed this scene. Just as Li Gang was about to step through the gate, a wall of fire suddenly appeared at the gate! It completely enveloped the area in front of the gate, and the wall of fire that appeared in front of the gate immediately made Li Gang's pupils shrink sharply! The next moment, he immediately began to brake quickly, trying to stop steadily in front of the wall of fire.
But he obviously couldn't stop; he was running too fast. So, he stopped abruptly, but not properly, and fell in front of the wall of fire.
"Bang!"
With a loud thud, Li Gang landed steadily on the ground.
Upon seeing this, Chen Zhou immediately went over and said kindly, "What a pity, what a pity, they didn't escape."
Chen Zhou walked slowly and steadily, because he was holding two cups of tea. He had already taken a small sip of one cup himself, and the other cup was for Li Gang.
After falling to the ground, Li Gang immediately rolled to his feet, staring in horror at the wall of fire, and said, "What...what is this...this thing...?"
Those who have never seen Chen Zhou's Rootless Fire would likely have the same instinctive reaction upon seeing this flame: they wouldn't know what they were seeing. This wall of fire was so eerie, it seemed it shouldn't exist in such a place.
"You don't recognize this? Look, what's burning so fiercely is obviously flames!" Chen Zhou quickly walked to Li Gang's side, heard Li Gang's mutterings, and immediately answered. Then he squatted down next to Li Gang, handed him a cup of tea, and said, "Here! Calm your nerves!"
Upon hearing Chen Zhou's words, Li Gang immediately said, "Get lost!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Li Gang immediately swept his hand across, knocking the teacup from Chen Zhou's hand to the ground, where it began to roll. Chen Zhou sighed inwardly. "Ah, thank goodness this cup is made of bronze, otherwise it would have shattered. What a waste of such good tea!"
Immediately afterward, Li Gang shrank back, his legs constantly moving on the ground as he retreated. He seemed somewhat afraid of the wall of fire in front of him, fearing that the raging flames would fall and land on him.
Upon seeing this, Chen Zhou immediately waved his hand, and the wall of fire disappeared in the blink of an eye. Li Gang was stunned by this dreamlike event and looked at Chen Zhou with a look of horror once again.
"Did you do this?" Li Gang asked, trembling.
This was the first time Li Gang had seen Chen Zhou use such a thing.
"Of course! Do you want to learn?" Chen Zhou said subconsciously, truly acting as if he were Li Gang's master.
"You can teach me this?" Li Gang asked immediately, seemingly unwilling to believe what had just happened.
Any boy who saw this scene would probably be tempted to learn it, even a stubborn and unruly boy like Li Gang. Seeing Li Gang's reaction, Chen Zhou immediately smiled and said, "Of course you can. I am your master. Whatever you want to learn, I will naturally teach you."
"Is it because of your ability that my father valued you?" Li Gang asked again.
“Let me tell you, not only am I strong in combat, but I can also manipulate flames. I’m the perfect person to be your master,” Chen Zhou replied, mimicking Li Gang by sitting down on the ground.
“Alright! As long as you teach me this, I can forgive and forget and let you be my master!” Li Gang said as if he had made up his mind. Hearing this, Chen Zhou smiled again. It seemed that this trick had worked.
“That won’t do. I’ve already taught you everything, and you’re ready to graduate. If you only acknowledge me as your master now, wouldn’t I be at a loss? You have to become my disciple right now,” Chen Zhou said. Then, right in front of Li Gang, he started playing with flames on his fingertips. A ball of flame appeared out of thin air in Chen Zhou’s hand, leaping and condensing again.
Li Gang's eyes lit up as he looked at the flame in Chen Zhou's hand, as if he desperately wanted to learn it. However, he couldn't bring himself to make the decision to become Chen Zhou's disciple. It seemed a bit of a stretch for him, as he still disliked the person in front of him.
Therefore, it would be extremely difficult for Li Gang to accept Chen Zhou and become his disciple all at once.
Li Gang fell silent immediately, and Chen Zhou waited quietly, knowing that Li Gang wasn't going to run away anyway.
“My father should have promised that once you taught me, your task would be complete, and you would receive your reward. Your goal would be achieved. Why are you so obsessed with becoming my apprentice? Let me put it simply: it’s already an honor for you to be able to teach me. You actually want to become my master? Keep dreaming!” Li Gang said, spewing profanities.
As Chen Zhou sipped his tea, he listened to Li Gang speak and realized that Li Gang had changed. It seemed that he still really wanted to learn about flames, but he didn't know what to say.
"What if I insist that you become my apprentice before you can learn?" Chen Zhou said directly.
"Then go tell my father I don't need him anymore! Get out!" Li Gang said again in a fit of rage.
"Hahaha! But the question is, can you leave here now?" Chen Zhou asked calmly. It was precisely this calmness that made people most infuriated, just like Li Gang was quite angry right now! How could this man, whose name he didn't even know, be so annoying?
"How about this, let's each compromise. I won't hold it against you for hitting me. I don't want your friend anymore either. You just teach me this, and then you can go to my father to collect your reward, okay?" Li Gang said, taking a step back.
