Chapter 205: The Great Fire

Chen Zhou walked through a series of dimly lit streets, and soon he arrived at a building some distance from the burning site.

Chen Zhou leaned against the building, carefully examining it, his mind filled with questions. Almost all the buildings Chen Zhou had seen along the way were habitable; this building was completely different from them.

The structure of the building struck Chen Zhou as quite amazing.

Chen Zhou had never seen such a building before.

Simply put, the building in front of him was one that Chen Zhou had never seen in his two lifetimes.

This was a house that looked like an upside-down pot. On top of the house were a pair of huge, jet-black wings. These wings did not seem to be made of any building. After examining them carefully for a while, Chen Zhou discovered that they were made entirely of demonic energy.

The strangest thing was not the wings, but the huge disc-shaped building beneath them.

The building is as bright as new, and its huge disc-shaped structure contrasts sharply with the inverted, pot-like building below. From a distance, it looks like two bowls placed side by side and upside down on the ground.

However, this was a black building, quite different from the bowl Chen Zhou had in mind.

Chen Zhou leaned against the building and gently stroked the dark structure with his hands. To his surprise, he discovered that the black parts on the building were actually patches of charred black material.

This thing looked as if it had been burned by a raging fire. Chen Zhou looked at several other places and found that they were all like this.

In other words, the entire building was charred and burned to this state, and its original appearance was definitely not like this.

Chen Zhou was immediately puzzled. What kind of raging fire could burn this building like this, and yet it still didn't collapse?

Chen Zhou continued to stroke the building with both hands, trying to pry off the charred parts, but he couldn't break them off no matter how hard he tried. Then Chen Zhou continued walking along the black building, and suddenly, he noticed that the charred marks on the building still retained some warmth!

"What's with this residual heat?" Chen Zhou wondered to himself.

The building not only retained its warmth, but the charred marks also stuck to Chen Zhou's hands after he touched them, turning his hands black as well.

"Could it be that the fire here just happened recently?" Chen Zhou finally came to this conclusion.

Chen Zhou had been traveling for quite some time and was ready to leave immediately, but now he found himself in a strange predicament, constantly pondering what had happened here.

Judging from the lingering warmth, Chen Zhou could deduce that a major fire had occurred here previously.

After examining the charred remains on the building more closely, Chen Zhou became even more certain of his conclusion: "A major fire breaks out here every so often!"

Upon realizing this, Chen Zhou was suddenly startled. This was something the courtier had not told him. Chen Zhou judged it entirely by the charred remains on the building. In other words, the fire had died down some time ago, so the heat on the walls had dissipated in some places, but the residual heat was still there in others.

What Chen Zhou just touched was the residual warmth of that wall.

"I understand. Although I don't know what this building is used for, fires break out here every now and then, which means I have to leave here immediately, otherwise the fire will spread to me!" Chen Zhou said in shock, and then immediately started walking towards the burning site.

Chen Zhou had no more true energy left in his body, so he could only rely on his physical strength to travel. He was now running at his fastest speed.

However, Chen Zhou did not notice that small flames had begun to bloom again in the place where he had just left.

These small flames eventually gathered together, then merged into a raging fire, which reignited the black charred residue on the building, and another fire broke out.

Even at his fastest speed, Chen Zhou couldn't escape the fire, because the flames started from all directions.

In other words, the fire started from all directions and gradually seeped in, eventually burning the building in the middle.

Chen Zhou suddenly stopped in his tracks, because he found that his path was blocked by flames, and he could not pass through the tall wall of fire!

"This fire is burning so fast?!" Chen Zhou exclaimed in surprise. He had never seen such a large fire before, and now he truly understood how terrifying it was.

Chen Zhou hadn't actually come into contact with the flames yet, but his clothes were already completely soaked with sweat. The fire was generating waves of heat, and Chen Zhou, being surrounded by flames, was naturally being bombarded by those waves of heat. He was already drenched in sweat.

"No, I have to find a chance to get out. This place will burn down sooner or later, and if it does, I'll definitely be burned to a crisp!" Chen Zhou thought in horror. He immediately started running to one side, trying to find a place where the fire was weaker. Finally, he rushed out and broke through the wall of fire.

Rather than endure prolonged burning, Chen Zhou preferred a short period of intense heat. If he couldn't find a weaker spot now, he'd find one even less later. Now, with the fire just beginning to burn, searching for a weaker area was the easiest thing to do.
