Chapter 8 The Cruel Reality of the Royal Sister and Her Puppy
Shen Jiang locked the door and prepared to go to the hospital, but before she even locked it, she was blocked at the door.
"See what I said, there's someone inside!"
Shen Jiang turned his head and saw a young man and woman standing together. They were still childish and dressed fashionably. Both pairs of eyes were looking at him excitedly.
The boy, still holding a half-eaten breakfast in his hand, mumbled, "Thank God, after coming here so many times, there's finally someone here this time."
"What's the matter?" Shen Jiang became wary.
The beautiful girl smiled and said, "Hello, my name is Zining. Recently, a video interviewing a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner has gone viral online. We're also in the self-media business, and this has caused quite a bit of controversy online. Did you know it's getting quite a bit of attention?"
The male companion next to her with thick eyebrows and big eyes raised the corner of his mouth brilliantly, revealing a mouthful of white teeth: "My name is Chen Quan, and I'm her cameraman."
Shen Jiang knew, of course, that she had a bad impression of self-media. After her grandmother's accident, it was those small-time internet celebrities who came to the hospital and tried to use her as a publicity stunt...
She didn't expect to meet such a person at her doorstep again.
These two people looked young and naive, but Shen Jiang would never treat them as innocent.
Shen Jiang's expression turned slightly cold. After experiencing this kind of thing, she had a deep aversion to self-media influencers. The beautiful girl in front of her did have the capital to become an influencer, but her beauty at the moment only made her feel irritated.
"I don't know. I'm here to see a doctor." Shen Jiang was about to leave.
The cute young lady in front of her suddenly changed her expression. Zi Ning was a little surprised. She had just seen this young lady walking out of the door from afar. After looking at her companion who was even more confused than her, Zi Ning suddenly reacted.
"This incident has sparked a huge controversy online. Public opinion is already biased against traditional Chinese medicine, and many people are just following the crowd. I'm a fan of traditional Chinese medicine, and I'd like to know if there's a hidden story behind this."
Shen Jiang paused and stopped, but the wariness remained in his eyes.
"A fan of traditional Chinese medicine? Not many young people believe in it these days."
Zining smiled. "We originally specialized in making popular videos about Traditional Chinese Medicine, determined to let everyone see truly good Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners. Now the internet is full of irresponsible speculation. The troublemakers have fled, and the doctor has been hospitalized. There's no one speaking out on either side, and it's all marketing accounts and Traditional Chinese Medicine haters who are stirring up trouble. We're here to find out what's really going on."
This was like someone handing a pillow to someone while they were dozing off. Shen Jiang was just worrying about how to resolve Mingxintang's reputation crisis when someone came and smelled the heat.
She asked several marketing accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers this morning, and any quote she received was beyond her ability to afford at the moment, not to mention that she wanted to clarify to the entire network to prove that her grandmother had not suffered any treatment errors. This ambition seemed a little sad and ridiculous in the face of reality.
Rather than clarification, marketing accounts prefer exciting and explosive news, so they are happy to help her publish it even without getting paid.
However, is it reliable to rely solely on these two makeshift teams who are obviously college students?
Shen Jiang's expression had softened. "Why do you want to popularize Chinese medicine? This field is too niche. Why don't you go into food or something else?"
The boy immediately gave her a look of approval.
Zi Ning seemed to have found someone to share her experience with, her eyes sparkling. "A few years ago, my face was covered in acne. I saw many doctors but to no avail. Finally, I went to an old Chinese medicine practitioner and got ointments and Chinese medicine that cured me. See."
She pointed at her face, and Shen Jiang only saw a white face as smooth as a peeled egg. Zi Ning felt very fortunate: "At that time, I really thought my face would be like the surface of the moon for the rest of my life. I almost became depressed. You know, it's really despairing for a girl to have such a bumpy face. Luckily, I met a reliable Chinese medicine doctor who cured me."
Zi Ning took out his cell phone and showed it to Shen Jiang. Shen Jiang glanced at the photo of the girl on it. It was a shockingly rotten face, but the facial features were somewhat similar to hers.
The girl in the photo had a gloomy look in her eyes, and she looked unhappy.
The boy named Chen Quan scratched his head and said, "I rarely see doctors, but I know Chinese medicine is pretty amazing. If she believes in it, then I believe in it too."
He glanced at his companions, his eyes filled with unconcealable enthusiasm.
The two of them had a strong student-like air, and their sincere self-introductions eased Shen Jiang's guard.
Shen Jiang thought of a key question: "Does your account have many followers?"
Chen Quan didn't expect her to be so blunt. A hint of embarrassment lingered in his smile. He scratched his face, "It's less than 10,000 right now, and we have to juggle schoolwork. But don't worry, our fans are all active and they're all particularly interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine. When we release it on all platforms, it's sure to get a lot of exposure."
As he spoke, he chuckled a little embarrassedly, looking a bit honest.
Just over a thousand, indeed less than ten thousand.
Shen Jiang's phone rang. The caller was from an unfamiliar number. Thinking about the recent calls that were either verbal abuse or personal attacks, Shen Jiang blocked the number without hesitation. The action was smooth and there was no lag at all.
Many neighbors around were taking the opportunity to buy breakfast to cast their glances over here. Shen Jiang turned around, unlocked the door, pushed it open, and made space for them to enter.
"Let's go inside and talk."
Shen Jiang has been staying in the hospital these days. If she hadn't planned to come here yesterday to sign the contract to sell Mingxintang, and if many things hadn't happened afterwards that caused her to stay until this morning, the two of them would probably have been disappointed again.
In fact, after waiting for a few days, Chen Quan and Zining had lost hope of visiting this Chinese medicine clinic. Unexpectedly, on the last visit, after not giving up hope, they met someone by chance.
After entering, the chaotic scene in the clinic was exactly the same as the one in the video that had gone viral online. This made the two of them feel very uncomfortable. They thought that the place had been cleaned up a long time ago.
What surprised them was that the kind-looking young lady in front of them was actually also studying Chinese medicine!
Zi Ning walked around the broken glass on the ground and asked as a matter of course, "So what year are you in now?"
Shen Jiang: "I've been working for several years now after graduating."
Zi Ning was really surprised. "You look about the same age as me, and you've already graduated. It must be difficult for a young Chinese medicine practitioner like you to gain the trust of patients."
Shen Jiang smiled. Indeed, young Chinese medicine practitioners often experience years of being benched, which is a very difficult time to endure. But she was fine. Being with her grandmother made her heart burn with joy.
Zi Ning continued chatting, "Nanze University's Traditional Chinese Medicine program is quite impressive, and it takes five years to graduate. Unfortunately, I missed the entrance exam by a few points. You're from Nanze, so you're not our senior, are you?"
Shen Jiang did not emphasize her academic qualifications. She said modestly, "Nanze University is very good, but I am not a student of Nanze."
At first glance, Shen Jiang was the kind of well-behaved and most motivated student she had ever been. Zi Ning felt a little sorry for her. If she had been admitted to the Traditional Chinese Medicine program in Nanze City, she could have worked in the city's Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, where the development opportunities would have been much better than here.
Looking at the many banners on the ground with words like "Save the dying and the wounded" and "Immeasurable merits", Zining's intuition told her that the old Chinese doctor was really capable, otherwise this Chinese medicine clinic would not have been open for more than 40 years.
Chen Quan prepared the first fixed camera position. He fixed a mobile phone on a tripod, adjusted the height and distance, and held up another mobile phone with a gimbal in his hand and made an OK gesture to Zining.
Shen Jiang felt that their posture was quite professional. Two people and two mobile phones gave the impression of a small team.
Zi Ning had prepared the interview questions long ago. She came well prepared this time and simply asked directly about the medical disputes that netizens were most concerned about.
"Doctor Shen, a patient's family came to cause trouble not long ago. Did your doctor really make the patient's condition worse?"
