Chapter 19: Alone in the Cave
Lu Shiyan didn't insist, but warned: "Then be careful."
"Don't worry, there shouldn't be any wolves down there, nothing will happen." Jiang Tangtang felt a little nervous thinking about the wolves that attacked them today.
However, thinking that she had her own space, it would be more convenient when she was alone. If she encountered danger, she could just hide in the space, and she became braver.
This cave was not far from where they fell off the cliff. Jiang Tangtang searched all the way there and soon found the wolf king killed by Lu Shiyan.
Looking at the bloody wolf king with his eyes wide open, Jiang Tangtang was a little scared.
The original owner had not eaten meat since she was exiled, and her body was already lacking in oil and water. After she traveled through time, she deliberately controlled her diet in order to lose weight.
But soon, the desire to eat meat took over, and Jiang Tangtang dragged the wolf out of the bushes.
An average wolf would only weigh forty or fifty kilograms, but this wolf was extremely large, weighing at least sixty or seventy kilograms.
After just a short while, Jiang Tangtang was already exhausted and out of breath.
Looking at the dark riverbank not far away, and thinking about the warm spring-like environment in the space, he hesitated for a moment, and then quietly entered the space with the wolf.
Although Jiang Tangtang had never taken care of wolves before, she had seen people slaughtering pigs and rabbits in the countryside.
She picked up a sharp knife and got to work.
First, the wolf skin is peeled off. Then the belly is cut open and the internal organs are removed. Then the wolf chops are removed and marinated with spices such as onion, ginger, garlic, cumin, etc.
After pickling, Jiang Tangtang remembered that she wanted to take it to the cave and eat it with Lu Shiyan.
Looking at the marinated lamb chops, Jiang Tangtang hesitated for a moment, then deftly removed all parts of the wolf meat, threw the wolf's internal organs into the river, and tied the wolf meat with palm leaves and carried it back to the cave.
When Jiang Tangtang returned to the cave carrying the wolf meat, she found that Lu Shiyan had fallen asleep again at some point, and she inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.
She carefully added a few pieces of dry firewood to the fire, then dug out the charcoal, built a simple rack with stones, took out the wolf chops that had been marinated earlier, and slowly roasted them on the charcoal.
Soon, the fragrant aroma of barbecue wafted out of the cave.
The wolf meat marinated with spices and smoked over charcoal fire tastes really delicious.
Even Lu Shiyan, who had never cared much about food, was awakened by the tempting aroma.
Seeing that he was awake, Jiang Tangtang handed him a wolf steak and said, "You must be hungry! Eat something quickly."
Seeing that there was still a lot of meat on the charcoal fire, Lu Shiyan didn't bother to be polite with her and started eating the wolf chops.
The wolf chops marinated with spices have no smell of mutton and taste crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Although Lu Shiyan had eaten Jiang Tangtang's cooking for several days and knew that she was an excellent cook, he was still a little surprised by the taste.
Looking at his wife sitting opposite him, eating wolf chops politely, Lu Shiyan felt doubtful again.
It seemed like she had changed since that day of heavy rain.
Not only did she no longer eat as voraciously as before, but her temperament seemed to have changed as well. Her cooking skills and the strange knowledge she knew were all very strange. Although Jiang Tangtang had reasonable explanations for each of them, he felt more and more confused.
But at this moment, Lu Shiyan didn't have time to think about it. After the two of them finished all the grilled wolf steaks, he stood up and said, "You rest by the fire for a while. I'll go out and find a way up."
"Huh?" Jiang Tangtang asked in surprise, "Why don't we wait until tomorrow morning to talk about it?"
"We'd better get back to the team as soon as possible."
"So...are you alright?" Jiang Tangtang asked worriedly, "How about I go with you? Once we find the way, you don't have to come back to find me. We can just go straight up."
Lu Shiyan shook his head and said, "I feel much better after a good sleep. You don't have to come with me. I'm just going to check out the terrain and wait until tomorrow morning."
Since he said so, Jiang Tangtang no longer insisted. It just so happened that she hadn't finished mining all the crystals in the cave yet, so she could continue after he left.
She nodded and said, "Go ahead, I'll smoke the wolf meat and take it with me for the journey tomorrow."
After Lu Shiyan left, Jiang Tangtang only took a few pieces of wolf meat and put them on the fire as a sample. The rest of the wolf meat was cut into strips, marinated with spices, and baked in the oven.
The farmhouse's oven was a large, built-in oven with a large capacity. Almost half of the wolf meat was roasted in one box. The remaining small portion that couldn't fit in the oven was placed in the air fryer by Jiang Tangtang.
After leaving the barbecue to the oven and air fryer, Jiang Tangtang took out the tools again and started working in the cave.
After she had mined all the easily mined crystal stones in the cave and brought them into the space, and the fragrant dried wolf meat was roasted, Lu Shiyan dragged his tired body back.
Jiang Tangtang asked him sleepily, "How is it? Have you found the way?"
Lu Shiyan nodded, "We found it. We can just follow that road tomorrow morning."
Jiang Tangtang pointed to the dried meat hanging in the bag by the fire and said, "Are you hungry? Do you want some dried meat?"
Lu Shiyan looked at the dried meat in the cloth bag and was very surprised that she had roasted the dried meat so quickly.
He opened the cloth bag and took a look. He saw that the dried meat was very small and not very dry when roasted.
I just thought it was because the pieces were cut smaller, so they baked faster, so I didn't think much about it.
He shook his head slightly and said, "No more eating, go to sleep!"
Jiang Tangtang didn't pay much attention to him. She leaned towards the fire and buried her head in her knees and fell asleep again.
She had just sneaked into the space, taken out the prison uniform from the dry cleaner, changed into it, and then threw the wet prison uniform into the washing machine.
Although sleeping like this was uncomfortable, her clothes were dry, so it wasn't that uncomfortable. Furthermore, she had been walking all day and had experienced such a thrilling experience as falling off a cliff at night. She was so exhausted that she fell asleep again quickly.
On the other side, the exiled team finally arrived at the post station and settled down.
The officers cleaned up the food briefly and distributed dry food to everyone as usual, but the people in the Lu family's main branch could not eat it all.
Su knelt on the ground and cried, "Sir, my son and daughter-in-law fell off the cliff. Can you please show mercy and let us go down to look for them?"
Liang Jiamin thought of Jiang Tangtang's excellent cooking skills and Lu Shiyan's bravery in killing the wolf, and a feeling of regret rose in her heart. She didn't scold her, but said, "I don't know how high the cliff is. It's pitch black outside and it's raining. How can you, a woman, find it?"
"I can go find my brother!" Lu Shili knelt beside Su and said, "Sir, please, let us go find my elder brother!"
"And me!" Lu Zhixi also knelt down and begged.
