"Teacher! What are you doing here with Teacher Qin?"
Since finishing her standardized and college entrance exams, Yan Keyi hadn't seen He Yin for a while. She had originally planned to visit He Yin after the results were released.
After all, He Yin had really helped her a lot. If it weren't for her, her exam wouldn't have gone so smoothly.
But Yan Keyi really didn't expect to run into He Yin at Qin Yiran's house.
Yan Keyi had sensed something was off about the relationship between her teacher and Qin Yiran before. Could it be that they were already having an affair? But without confirmation, Yan Keyi didn't dare to say anything rash. After all, He Yin could be quite intimidating when she was serious, and Yan Keyi didn't dare to mess with her teacher.
Hearing Yan Keyi and Jiang Ning's movements, He Yin looked up and smiled at them without saying a word.
After inviting the two to find a place to sit, Qin Yiran went to get cups to pour water for Jiang Ning and Yan Keyi. When she returned, seeing their curious but hesitant expressions, Qin Yiran spoke up directly.
"Xiao Yan, don't you think about it? I'm the one who recommended you to study with Sister Yin. We're good friends, so it's obvious we should have the right to help you with the role, right? I invited Sister Yin over so she could help you with the role selection."
Listening to Qin Yiran's explanation, it seemed to make sense, but something still felt off. However, Yan Keyi didn't ask further, but instead inquired about the role and the audition.
Previously, because the production team was still in preparation and the script was still being revised, there was no final draft. But since Qin Yiran has a complete script, she certainly won't keep it to herself.
Yan Keyi had already read a bit of the script before, but the problem now is that because the investors want to add people, the script has been modified specifically for the minor stars they want to bring in.
From this perspective, it's actually disadvantageous for Yan Keyi. But since so many people have gathered here to offer advice to Yan Keyi, it's understandable.
After sitting down, Qin Yiran asked Yan Keyi about her understanding of the character. After Yan Keyi explained her understanding, Qin Yiran, based on her own understanding, offered some evaluations and improvements to Yan Keyi's interpretation.
However, Yan Keyi did not simply copy it verbatim; the two actually had some disagreements on certain points.
"Sister Yin, what do you think?"
When she really couldn't make up her mind, Qin Yiran also asked He Yin for her opinion.
While Yan Keyi and Qin Yiran were discussing, He Yin had been listening without offering any opinions. Now that Qin Yiran had asked for He Yin's opinion, Yan Keyi looked at He Yin curiously.
Yan Keyi has always respected He Yin. If she were to come to see things from her perspective, she would probably have a clearer understanding.
"You two have the most scenes together in the drama. Since you two have different opinions, why not choose a scene to act out and experience it for yourself?"
He Yin did not directly express her opinion, but she provided Qin Yiran and Yan Keyi with a feasible solution.
He Yin's words immediately made Yan Keyi understand, but choosing which segment would be better stumped the two of them.
He Yin turned to a certain page of the script and handed it to the two of them.
After glancing at which part of the plot it was and familiarizing themselves with it a little, the two began to rehearse their lines.
When they actually rehearsed the scene, Qin Yiran realized that Yan Keyi's perspective was indeed more appropriate.
Although she hasn't been a fan for very long, some of her views are quite insightful.
"Jiang Ning, what are your thoughts on the two performances?"
Jiang Ning didn't really know much about acting, so he had been watching from the sidelines. He was taken aback when He Yin suddenly called on him.
"Me?"
When asked, Jiang Ning was even a little surprised. She worried that her layman's perspective would only exacerbate their differences.
"Yes, you can share your thoughts. More discussion can actually help Keyi better understand the character."
"I feel that Teacher Qin and Yiyi's views each have their own advantages and disadvantages."
Jiang Ning genuinely doesn't understand highly technical matters. But if he were to look at it from the audience's perspective, Qin Yiran's suggestion might allow Yan Keyi to portray the character better, but perhaps a little too forcefully?
Yan Keyi's idea would make the character seem more natural, but it wouldn't highlight the character's personality enough.
However, a persona is static, while a character is dynamic, and a person doesn't live entirely according to a so-called persona. Jiang Ning actually prefers the effect presented by Yan Keyi.
But viewers who enjoy seeking out exciting plot twists might prefer Qin Yiran's perspective.
After hearing Jiang Ning's explanation, Qin Yiran immediately understood the difference between her and Yan Keyi.
After discussing it for a while, the group turned their attention to He Yin. After all, it was He Yin who initially proposed this, and they wanted to know her thoughts.
"Jiang Ning is right. But if you ask me, Xiao Qin's view is more stable. She can play the role well while maintaining the character's persona, thus deepening the audience's impression and liking for the character. Xiao Yan's view requires more inspiration. If she doesn't grasp that balance, she might seem a bit out of touch with the character. That's all I have to say. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide for yourself."
He Yin's teaching style has always been to provide ideas and methods, but she never explains things in detail. Having studied with He Yin for so long, Yan Keyi has naturally become accustomed to He Yin's way of speaking.
After He Yin said those words, Yan Keyi also had her own thoughts.
"Thank you, teacher. I know which direction I should strive in now."
Afterwards, the group exchanged ideas for a while. They also went over the scenes for the audition several times. Only after Yan Keyi found her best performance did she prepare to leave.
Moreover, there's a high probability that Yan Keyi will be acting alongside Qin Yiran during the audition. Qin Yiran admits that she did give Yan Keyi some private coaching, but Yan Keyi's talent and hard work certainly deserve it.
If the initial help to Yan Keyi was due to Jiang Ning, then every subsequent act of help was because she saw a reflection of herself in Yan Keyi.
"Miss Jiang, Xiao Yan, why don't you stay for dinner? It's getting late."
Jiang Ning was already preparing to leave with Yan Keyi, but just as he grasped the doorknob, Qin Yiran called him down.
Jiang Ning glanced at Qin Yiran, then at He Yin, and roughly guessed that Qin Yiran was using them as a pretext. If they left, He Yin would probably leave too, right?
