Chapter 18 Yes, I like her.

With the matter resolved, Jiang Ning was finally able to continue working.

Just then, Jiang Ning received a notification asking her to go to the general manager's office.

Jiang Ning packed her things and left. She had already submitted her work summary for the previous quarter, and the work for this quarter was proceeding in an orderly manner. Jiang Ning wasn't really sure what the general manager wanted to talk to her about.

"Mr. Yang, you wanted to see me?"

After arriving at Yang Xingsui's office, Jiang Ning knocked on the door and entered only after receiving permission.

"Sit down. What's our relationship? There are no outsiders here, so don't be so polite with me."

Yang Xingsui and Jiang Ning grew up together, their friendship was practically like that of siblings. They attended the same school almost the entire time. After graduating from university, Yang Xingsui took over his family's company, and Jiang Ning joined Huanyu after receiving his offer.

Yang Xingsui had always treated her very well, and Jiang Ning had never let him down.

"What's up? Don't tell me you're here to chat."

After Jiang Ning sat down, he spoke to Yang Xingsui. The two had a good relationship, and Jiang Ning was not reserved at all.

"Is something going on with you? I've never seen you with anyone in all these years. Is this the end of the world?"

Yang Xingsui didn't stand on ceremony; he really did come to chat with Jiang Ning.

Why do you ask that? Who went to you to tattle on me again?

Jiang Ning was able to become the director of a department at such a young age, so naturally, she had a lot of people who envied, were jealous of, and resented her.

Jiang Ning brought Yan Keyi to work the other day without trying to hide it from others. People might not dare to say anything to her face, but would they really complain to Yang Xingsui behind her back?

Besides that, Jiang Ning also couldn't quite understand why Yang Xingsui had come to find her.

"No, I ran into the general manager of Phantom at a group meeting yesterday and we had dinner together. Later, his cousin Hu Yiming came over, and I heard your name and that girl named Yan Keyi from him. I was curious, so I asked a few more questions."

After saying that, Yang Xingsui looked at Jiang Ning with a curious expression. He was genuinely curious about Jiang Ning and that girl's relationship.

He knew about Jiang Ning's falling out with her family and never speaking to them again after coming out in her early years. But as parents, they would say they didn't recognize Jiang Ning as their daughter, but they would actually ask him for news about her.

Upon learning that no girls had actually appeared around Jiang Ning, they began to wonder if she actually still preferred men.

But Yang Xingsui also knew that Jiang Ning simply didn't want anyone.

But now, someone has appeared in Jiang Ning's life. As a childhood friend, it's normal for Yang Xingsui to be curious.

"Oh, I see."

Jiang Ning remained indifferent even after learning that Yang Xingsui had obtained this information from Hu Yiming.

"You like that girl? You've kept it a secret for a long time; even I didn't know."

In all these years, when has Jiang Ning ever had someone so close to him?

Yang Xingsui even felt that perhaps she preferred work to having a lover with whom she could understand and accompany her.

Yesterday, he learned from Hu Yiming that Jiang Ning had accompanied Yan Keyi to take her costume fitting photos, and that's when he realized that Jiang Ning had taken leave because of this.

It's not that Jiang Ning can't take leave. In the two or three years she's been employed, she's always focused on her work. If there are any problems with a project, she'll come over and deal with them as soon as possible, even on her days off. What's wrong with taking a day off?

But taking leave to go out and accompany someone? That's rather intriguing.

"Yes, I do like her. But I didn't mean to hide it from you; we only met a few days ago."

Jiang Ning knew that Yang Xingsui was very familiar with her, and she couldn't fool him, so she simply and decisively admitted it.

"Okay, how did you two meet?"

Yang Xingsui's relationship with Jiang Ning is more like that of friends and siblings. He is genuinely curious about what kind of person can win Jiang Ning's heart.

After learning what had happened from Jiang Ning, Yang Xingsui had a general understanding of why Jiang Ning had fallen for her. She also felt a pang of sympathy for him.

"I don't object to you liking girls, as long as you're happy. But if she doesn't like girls, your unrequited love will be very painful."

Yang Xingsui wouldn't criticize Jiang Ning's sexual orientation; if he did, the two of them wouldn't still be in contact.

However, Yang Xingsui was more worried that Jiang Ning would get injured.

They spent every day together, and Jiang Ning always managed to keep his feelings to himself. If Yan Keyi had never fallen for Jiang Ning, he truly could have stayed by her side until she finally found her own happiness.

Yan Keyi was unaware of Jiang Ning's feelings, so she didn't respond. It's not that she did anything wrong, but as a friend, she felt sorry for Jiang Ning's efforts.

To be honest, are all lesbians unable to resist straight women?

“I know what I’m doing. I took her in because she was homeless, and I couldn’t control my feelings for her. But from the beginning, I never intended for her to have to be with me just because I liked her.”

Jiang Ning knew everything Yang Xingsui had said, or rather, she understood better than anyone what she was doing.

However, Jiang Ning didn't want to think about those things; she only hoped that Yan Keyi would be happy.

Moreover, she didn't get nothing in return. Just thinking about how someone would be waiting at the door when she got home from work, calling out "Sister" sweetly as soon as they heard her take out her key, and telling her that she had prepared dinner and was waiting for her to come home, made Jiang Ning smile.

It's been far too long since she's been surrounded by the warmth of everyday life.

As a child, Jiang Ning was a cheerful little girl. It was only after she broke with her family and moved out to work that she gradually became cold and aloof.

Seeing Jiang Ning's smile again after so long, Yang Xingsui was speechless.

At least for now, Jiang Ning is happy.

"Alright, alright, you can go now. You reek of the stench of being in love."

Yang Xingsui sighed and began to shoo people away.

After receiving Yang Xingsui's words, Jiang Ning left without looking back.

She missed Yan Keyi.

She wanted to hurry back and finish her work for the day so she could go home and see Yan Keyi.

"Boss, you're back. What does President Yang want with you?"

Upon seeing Jiang Ning return, Lina immediately asked about him. The general secretary had given such a urgent notification; she was afraid Jiang Ning was going to get scolded.

They might joke about the high-pressure work environment in Jiangning in private, but when faced with criticism from other departments, they stand united against external forces.

"It's nothing, just some work-related questions. Go ahead and get busy."

Although Lina felt that Jiang Ning was probably not telling the truth, since she had already said it, she didn't dare to ask any more questions.

However, she had a feeling that Jiang Ning seemed a little happy today.
