Penglai Palace is an unused palace. Because it is not far from the Imperial Garden, some concubines who come out for a stroll would take shelter from the rain and change clothes here.
Su Qingyu was puzzled. "Why aren't you taking the pulse in the East Palace? Are you going to Penglai Palace?"
Su Qingyu had a vague suspicion: Penglai Palace was vacant, and Su Xiangling's plans for doing something would be more under the radar than in the Eastern Palace. Plus, this place was close to the Imperial Garden, so if things got out of hand, it would be easier to draw attention to them.
Xue Tao was clearly prepared and began to explain, "When Mr. Zhou went to the Eastern Palace, Concubine Su was accompanying Concubine Xian."
"I had originally planned to wait until the palace banquet was over before asking Mr. Zhou to take her pulse. Later, Concubine Su accompanied the virtuous Concubine to the Hall of Supreme Harmony, and she suddenly felt unwell on the way."

Su Qingyu nodded when she heard this, as if she believed Xue Tao's words.
Sometimes lies sound more real than the truth.
Su Qingyu knew in her heart that Su Xiangling was trying to kill her. So, she just had to make her believe these reasons in order to deceive her.
"Since you can go to the palace banquet with Concubine Su, you must be her confidant. Why would you accept bribes to pass on messages for Mr. Zhou?" Su Qingyu asked casually. Anyway, they had nothing to do on the way, so they might as well chat.
The more she asked, the more relieved Xuetao felt.
Xue Tao replied embarrassedly, "My family is poor, and my parents are waiting for me to take money out of the palace. I don't think this is betrayal. You went there just to plead for mercy, and you wouldn't kill our concubine."
Su Qingyu thought to herself, it was your concubine who wanted to kill me.
