Chapter 10 Bai Rou'er came to shuhaige.net

Before long, the sound of gongs and drums came from the foot of the mountain.

Aunt Pang took a look and said nervously, "It's over, Zhang Si is probably dead. Who knows what trouble Zeng Guihua will cause now."

She looked at Li Chunyan on the bed, her face full of worry: "What are we going to do with you two? One is a weak woman, and the other is an idiot."

Zhang Fan's gaze turned cold.

He's not afraid of Zeng Guihua, is he?

Unfortunately, he couldn't reveal himself yet, as he hadn't figured out who Zeng Guihua's backers were.

Just then, Tiegen came running in, panting heavily. His front and back were soaked with sweat. He didn't even have time to rest. He said, "Dr. Niu was called away by Zeng Guihua. He can't come back."

Dr. Niu was the only barefoot doctor in the surrounding villages, and people would go to him whenever they were sick.

Aunt Pang was anxious and almost fell when she stood up; "Zhang Si is dead, why are you still clinging to Doctor Niu?"

Tie Gen pounded his thigh in frustration: "That Zeng Guihua just won't let you go, she's threatening to teach Dr. Niu a lesson if he dares to treat you."

Aunt Pang paced anxiously back and forth in the room, saying, "What should I do?"

Just then, Li Chunyan slowly opened her eyes, her voice hoarse: "What...what happened to me?"

Aunt Pang breathed a sigh of relief: "Are you feeling unwell? Why is your voice so hoarse?"

Li Chunyan's gaze lingered on Zhang Fan for a moment. She had just had a wonderful dream in which she had seduced Zhang Fan.

Her face flushed instantly, and she quickly shook her head, saying, "I'm fine."

Then Zhang Fan brought over some salt and sugar water, and Li Chunyan felt much better after drinking it.

Seeing that Li Chunyan's spirits had indeed improved considerably, Aunt Pang finally felt relieved: "Thank goodness, you're alright."

Li Chunyan, however, showed no sign of relaxation. Her face was pale, her brows furrowed, and she bit her lower lip, looking worried: "Why do they keep bullying a fool?"

"Those wolves even eat people, thankfully Zhang Fan is alright." Li Chunyan said, still shaken.

Aunt Pang suggested, "It's not convenient here right now, why don't you go hide with your relatives at your parents' house?"

Previously, when Zhang Si had picked a fight with Zhang Fan, Li Chunyan told Zhang Fan to hide at her parents' home.

Later, Zhang Fan failed to go and was chased into the steep southern slope by Zhang Si, but fortunately he did not encounter that group of people.

Li Chunyan threw off the quilt: "Auntie Pang, please look after Zhang Fan. I'll talk to my family."

Aunt Pang was worried about Li Chunyan's health. She tried to persuade her a few times, but to no avail, so she could only let Li Chunyan be: "Don't worry."

"sister in law……"

Li Chunyan said sternly, "Zhang Fan, if you don't listen to me, I won't want you anymore."

Tie Gen pulled Zhang Fan aside, saying, "Just listen to your sister-in-law."

Li Guihua went out under the midday sun, wearing a sun hat.

No sooner had she left than two of Zhang Si's henchmen, Li Ting and Wang Wu, arrived, looking menacing and ready to attack.

They've caused trouble time and time again. Zhang Fan secretly gathered his strength, thinking that if they made a move, he would beat them senseless.

Zhang Tiegen shielded Aunt Pang and Zhang Fan behind him, and asked warily, "What do you want to do?"

Wang Wu: "Fourth Sister-in-law said that Zhang Fan should keep vigil for Fourth Brother."

They're clearly of the same generation, yet they're forced to keep vigil—that's outrageous!

The plump auntie's eyes widened, and she said in an exaggerated tone, "Zeng Guihua isn't afraid of wolves, but you're not? Why are you bullying a fool again?"

Li Ting and Wang Wu exchanged a glance, both seeing embarrassment and fear in each other's eyes.

Wang Wu said with difficulty, "I... Brother Fan, Master Fan, we were forced into this. Please talk to the Mountain God."

Last night, they witnessed firsthand fruits falling from the sky that could cause diarrhea, and wolves were constantly watching Zhang Si.

Recalling that scene, both of them felt their legs go weak at the same time: "Master Fan, give us an answer so we can go back and report."

Zhang Fan stared at the cricket on the ground, his eyes filled with a clear naiveté: "I don't know, I'm just listening to Hu Xue."

This wicked woman conspired with Zhang Si to plot against him; she should have known the consequences.

Wang Wu and Li Ting's eyes lit up: "Once you're married, you're family, and this matter is inextricably linked to her."

"Let her keep vigil."

With that, the two went to find Hu Xue.

Hu Xue was originally from out of town, and no one knows how she got involved with Zhang Si.

In order to meet secretly more often, and also for the headhunting fees Zhang Fan received, the two came up with the idea of having Zhang Fan marry into their family.

Only after Zhang Fan's mind returned to normal did he realize the inconsistencies.

Given Zhang Si's abilities, it wouldn't be impossible to directly grant Hu Xue residency.

However, the two did not register their marriage, and Hu Xue's household registration was not transferred.

Isn't it making a mountain out of a molehill to handle this matter in such a complicated way?

As Zhang Fan tidied up the yard, he pondered this problem, and a flash of inspiration struck him.

Could there be a problem with Hu Xue's identity?

Before he could think it through, Aunt Pang shooed him away, saying, "You've been working hard these past few days. Take a good rest. Tiegen and I will take care of these things."

While Aunt Pang was busy, Zhang Fan hid the money Bai Rou'er gave him in a crack in the wall, and then quietly slipped out the door.

Now everyone in the village is living in fear, keeping their doors tightly shut, for fear that wolves will harm people again.

This made it easier for Zhang Fan to move around; he walked from one end of the village to the other without seeing a single person.

There's a small shop at the end of the village. Few villagers own mobile phones, so they come here to make calls if they want to communicate with the outside world.

Zhang Fan arrived at the convenience store, where a woman wearing a black chiffon top and white shorts was sitting with her legs crossed, cracking sunflower seeds, and staring at the television.

The chiffon was very sheer, revealing glimpses of black lace. Her exposed legs were wheat-colored, firm and healthy, full of vibrant beauty.
