Chapter 256 Spiritual Power Dissipated

He tried to calculate it again, but found that he really couldn't figure it out.

This was too unusual. Zhang Fan was shocked, but he didn't show it on his face.

Meanwhile, in a completely sealed room, a candle was burning, casting a dim, yellowish light on a figure in a black robe.

Most of the man's face was covered by a black robe, and the half of his face that was exposed wore a cold smile.

Zhang Fan, this is just the beginning.

Chi Fei blushed and said, "Zhang Fan, it's getting late, let's go back to sleep."

...

Zhang Fan didn't sleep that night.

He felt inexplicably flustered, his heart pounding wildly, filled with unease.

Before dawn, Chi Fei slowly opened her eyes, rubbing them sleepily. "Zhang Fan, why aren't you asleep yet?"

Zhang Fan: "I probably wasn't tired last night, so I wasn't sleepy."

"How annoying." Chi Fei's cheeks flushed again.

He was talking about legitimate sports, but Chi Fei was lost in thought.

Women who have tasted meat are indeed different.

The two had just finished washing up when there was a knock on the door.

Chi Mei's voice came: "Zhang Fan, Chi Fei, come out and eat quickly."

Looking at the table laden with delicious food, Chi Fei couldn't help but say, "You're eating such a good breakfast?"

As she spoke, she reached for the akebia quinata on the table, but Chi Mei slapped her hand away: "The clan leader said that these things belong to Zhang Fan, and even the Holy Maiden cannot eat them!"

Chi Fei wrinkled her nose and said sourly, "Now my status is not as high as yours."

Zhang Fan laughed heartily: "Looks like I'm quite charming."

As he spoke, he picked up the food on the table and ate it with relish, while a glint of light flashed in Chi Mei's eyes.

On this day, Zhang Fan lived like an emperor, with people serving him food and drink, and even beautiful women massaging his body.

Chi Fei couldn't help but say, "Zhang Fan, with a great battle imminent, isn't this a bit too decadent?"

Chi Mei shoved Chi Fei away with her buttocks: "Holy Maiden, you're wrong about that. You need to relax and conserve your energy so you can unleash your full potential."

"Exactly, with only two or three days left, cramming at the last minute is completely useless."

"Zhang Fan is our hope; your happiness is my happiness."

Zhang Fan nodded and said, "Xiao Mei is right, you guys understand me best."

As he spoke, Zhang Fan pinched Chi Mei's cheek.

Chi Fei felt a pang of sadness; she felt that Zhang Fan was very different from before.

It seems Zhang Fan has become addicted to wine and women.

Previously, Zhang Fan was a master strategist, seemingly in control of everything.

Chi Fei's eyes stung, and Zhang Fan pointed at her nose, saying, "You're such a spoilsport, go away."

Chi Fei felt as if her heart was being gripped, and her eyes stung with tears. Her eyes instantly turned bloodshot, and her voice was muffled: "Then you can eat slowly. I'm going back to sleep."

It wasn't until late at night that Zhang Fan pushed open the door and entered.

Chi Fei was sleeping in bed, wrapped in a blanket, with her back to Zhang Fan. She didn't move at all when she heard the noise.

Zhang Fan sat on the bed and felt the indentation on the side of the bed. Chi Fei moved her body inward.

"Still angry?" Zhang Fan's large hand landed on Chi Fei's shoulder.

Chi Fei's shoulders twitched, and she shook off Zhang Fan's hand.

Zhang Fan smiled slightly, then lay down on the bed, tucked Chi Fei's hair behind her ear, and asked affectionately, "How did it go?"

Chi Fei turned around abruptly, stunned by Zhang Fan's handsome face, before slowly saying, "The clan leader has a problem."

After arguing with Zhang Fan, Chi Fei felt suffocated and went to chat with the clan leader.

She was raised by the clan chief and knows him very well.

Upon entering the clan chief's bedroom, she immediately sensed something was amiss. The clan chief knew that Chi Fei preferred bright light, so whenever Chi Fei visited her room, she would light two extra oil lamps.

When she went to the clan chief's room today, she only lit an oil lamp.

The clan chief loved talking to Chi Fei and wished he could keep talking to her forever. But not long after Chi Fei went in today, the clan chief said he felt unwell and urged Chi Fei to leave quickly.

Most importantly, Chi Fei discovered that the dragon-headed cane was placed far away from the bed. The clan leader was old, had a chronic back ailment, and had difficulty walking. He needed a cane to go anywhere, so he wouldn't have placed the cane so far away.

When these details came together, Chi Fei knew that what Zhang Fan said was true.

While the two were still taking a walk, Zhang Fan whispered to Chi Fei that the clan leader had a problem.

She initially thought Zhang Fan had misunderstood something, so Zhang Fan came up with a plan.

The two pretended to argue, and Chi Fei ran to the clan chief to complain and inquire about information.

Chi Fei's face turned deathly pale: "Zhang Fan, where is the real clan leader?"

Zhang Fan: "The clan leader is still alive for now, but we have to hurry. The longer we delay, the more dangerous it becomes for her."

The two climbed out of the window and, under the cover of darkness, headed straight for the clan leader's room.

Zhang Fan took out the immobilization talisman from his bag; it was the same one that Ji Gan had used to control him.

The person inside the room saw the talisman, a slight smile playing on their lips, their expression indifferent as they watched the talisman being affixed to their body.

Then he found himself unable to move and could only watch helplessly as Zhang Fan walked in.

He looked at Zhang Fan with fear in his eyes and pained expression, as if he wanted to break free of his restraints but was powerless to do so. The bulging veins on his neck showed the effort he was putting in.

Zhang Fan looked down at him and asked, "Want to know when you were exposed?"

He blinked frantically, signaling Zhang Fan to continue.

"Ever since you told me to rest properly, when the old patriarch knew that the people from the Heavenly Dragon Sect were about to attack, he wanted me to practice 24 hours a day without rest. How could he let me rest?"
