Chapter 44 Experts Appear

Bai Rou'er held the blue and white porcelain plate in both hands, Zhang Fan placed the grilled fish in the middle, and then Bai Rou'er brought the fish over.

The man frowned as he looked at the charred grilled fish in front of him and picked up a piece with his chopsticks.

The flavor lingered on his lips and teeth; it was indeed delicious. He wanted to take another bite, but remembering his mission, he reluctantly slammed his chopsticks down: "This isn't a rockfish at all!"

Bai Rou'er's expression changed drastically: "You were the one who watched the killing just now."

Scarface: "You're not trying to dine and dash, are you?"

The man pulled several stacks of red bills from his bag: "Do you think I'm a penniless person?"

Scarface: "I get it, so they wanted to extort money from me."

The man slammed his hand on the table, causing the plates on it to vibrate. "I've eaten countless delicacies, and this rockfish is fake. It's a medaka variant that's been passed off as real rockfish."

This was the first time Bai Rou'er had ever seen such a shameless person, who was practically lying through their teeth: "You're talking nonsense!"

The man came prepared: "I am a professor of aquaculture. I joined Jiangcheng University. My name is Jiang Tao. You can find my name online."

Upon hearing this name, Zhang Fan's gaze towards the man became meaningful.

What a coincidence!

Someone searched it on their phone and indeed found Jiang Tao's name.

The scarred man also leaned closer. There was indeed Jiang Tao's name on the document, but there was no photo. He said suspiciously, "There's no photo. You say you're Jiang Tao, and I say I'm Jiang Tao too. Who can prove it?"

The man was prepared; he took out his Jiangcheng University meal card from his bag. The faculty and staff card had his name and photo on it.

The name written is indeed Jiang Tao, and the photo is of him.

Now, opinions are almost unanimously against the hotel, with everyone saying that the hotel is a fraud and demanding compensation!

Bai Rou'er was so frightened that her face turned pale, and her thin body staggered a couple of times, almost drowning in the spittle of these people.

Zhang Fan held her hand and whispered, "Don't worry."

He said to Jiang Tao, "You said you are engaged in aquatic research, so tell me, how many species of fish are there in our country, and which are endangered species?"

The man stammered, "There are too many, I can't remember them all."

Zhang Fan raised an eyebrow: "What a coincidence, I used to study at Jiangcheng University and happened to take Professor Jiang Tao's class. You didn't look like this before."

Jiang Tao's face froze instantly, and he raised his voice, his eyes darting away: "I don't remember having a student like you. You're an imposter."

Seeing that the two had conflicting accounts, the onlookers couldn't tell who was lying.

Just then, Zhang Fan shouted loudly into the distance, "Teacher Jiang Tao, someone is impersonating you here."

The man, who called himself Jiang Tao, suddenly shuddered and instinctively looked back.

He searched the crowd for a long time but couldn't find Jiang Tao. Realizing he had been tricked, he turned around and said angrily, "You did this on purpose!"

Zhang Fan smirked coldly: "So your name isn't Jiang Tao after all."

The man was both angry and furious. His behavior just now had already proven that he had impersonated someone else. He still stubbornly said, "Stone Rock Fish have been extinct for a long time. How could there be so many of them? Even if they really exist, there couldn't be so many of them."

Zhang Fan nodded: "There really shouldn't have been so many."

The man was overjoyed, thinking he had guessed correctly, but Zhang Fan's tone changed unexpectedly: "But it just so happened that I discovered the nest of the rockfish, and that's why I'm raising so many of them."

Just then, a man squeezed through the crowd. He was dressed simply, wore gold-rimmed glasses, and exuded a refined air. "Is someone calling me?" he asked.

Zhang Fan recognized the person and exclaimed in surprise, "Teacher Jiang?"

From the moment the bespectacled man entered, his gaze was fixed on the glass fish tank in the lobby, his eyes burning with adoration.

His gaze finally shifted from the fish tank to Zhang Fan. He adjusted his glasses, his eyes gradually focusing, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes: "Zhang Fan?"

Zhang Fan nodded: "It's me."

Jiang Tao was both surprised and delighted: "After you were injured, you didn't become..."

Zhang Fan coughed and changed the subject: "Teacher, someone is impersonating you."

Jiang Tao looked through his thick glasses at the person Zhang Fan was pointing to: "Jiang Ze, what are you doing here?"

Zhang Fan asked in confusion, "Teacher, do you know him?"

Jiang Tao nodded: "He's my distant cousin. He works in the school's logistics department. If you come back to school in the future, ask him to get you more food."

As soon as Jiang Tao arrived, Jiang Ze dared not speak.

Zhang Fan said, "Oh, no wonder they have meal cards. They really are faculty and staff."

Zhang Fan emphasized the last few words, and anyone could hear the sarcasm in them.

Jiang Ze's face turned pale and then red, and the mocking and disdainful looks from the crowd made him wish he could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.

Zhang Fan: "Teacher Jiang, could you tell me what kind of fish this is?"

Jiang Tao pushed up his glasses, his eyes seemingly shining as he looked at the fish tank: "This is the extinct Stone Rock Fish. I never thought I would see it again in my lifetime."

As he spoke, Jiang Tao shed two lines of tears.

Bai Rou'er's smile deepened; "Esteemed customer, we do not allow diners to dine and dash here. Please settle your bill."

The scarred man exclaimed dramatically, "So you wanted to dine and dash, huh!"

Jiang Ze braced himself, ignoring the mockery and ridicule of the crowd, and approached Jiang Tao, saying in a voice only the two of them could hear, "Cousin, please help me, just help me keep this lie, okay?"

Jiang Tao not only ignored him, but also said righteously, "So you've been using my name just to ruin other people's reputations. If I hadn't happened to be here on business, how would I have discovered your despicable acts?"
