Chapter 306 Royal Plastic Brotherhood

With the efforts of Yinreng and Yinzhen in managing water conservancy, initial results have been achieved in just a few months.

There were many ministers in the court who were exceptionally knowledgeable about water conservancy. Under Yinreng's arrangement, they thrived, their talents shining brightly, and they received many rewards from Emperor Kangxi. You must understand, before, they were all nobodys in the court, never getting any recognition, just going through the motions.

Now that Emperor Kangxi has shown them special favor, they are completely devoted to Yinreng and wish they could erect a longevity monument for him at home.

The scholar sold himself into the imperial family, all for the sake of bringing glory to his family while he was alive, and for leaving a lasting legacy after his death.

They saw a newfound hope in Yinreng, and naturally they revered him to the highest degree.

Most of these ministers did not have illustrious family backgrounds or ostentatious power. Their unwavering loyalty to Yinreng only made Kangxi think that Yinreng was good at his job and had the ability to employ people. They never considered that their authority was being threatened by their son.

Having made significant contributions, Emperor Kangxi would certainly not be stingy with rewards for Yinreng and Yinzhen.

The same promotions and titles bestowed upon court officials could not be applied to one's son.

Leaving aside Yinreng, if he were to be promoted again, Kangxi would have to abdicate and become the Retired Emperor. As for Yinzhen, he was the fourth prince, and Kangxi had no plans to bestow titles upon his sons for the time being, so he couldn't grant them official positions.

Therefore, Emperor Kangxi bestowed two calligraphy scrolls upon Yinreng. The one for Yinreng read, "With the world in mind, love the people as your own children." The one for Yinzhen read, "Loyal, respectful, honest, upright, diligent, cautious, and incorruptible."

Both sentences are extremely high praises, which shows Kangxi's feelings.

The water conservancy project in the capital region was just the beginning. Yinreng discovered that the waterways in Jiangnan, outside of the Yellow and Huai Rivers, were mostly shallow and blocked, causing floods every rainy season. He then petitioned for the repair of the water conservancy projects in Jiangnan.

Since the Crown Prince could not leave the capital for an extended period, the follow-up matters were entrusted to a specialist, and the results were still gratifying, thus adding another merit to Yinreng and Yinzhen.

After the water conservancy and land reclamation work came to an end, Yinreng and Yinzhen gradually relaxed.

On August 27th, Yinzhen celebrated his tenth birthday and obtained many fine items from Yinreng. These items were not only priceless but also extremely rare.

The God of Wealth, number nine, is known for his love of money, and signs of this are beginning to emerge.

Yinreng readily presented his birthday gift, then immediately instructed the tutors in the Imperial Study to increase Yintang's workload, emphasizing that his studies must not be neglected.

Now that he has passed his tenth birthday, he can be considered a little adult. He should learn more so that he can enter the court in a few years and share the burdens of Emperor Kangxi.

Tong Wanyan watched the two brothers' love-hate relationship. No matter how many times Yinzhen asked her for protection, she always sided with Yinreng, which made Yinzhen furious.

Yin'e, who was inseparable from Yin Tang, watched the drama unfold silently, and even added fuel to the fire by saying: "Ninth Brother is really foolish. He knows that Second Sister-in-law only has Second Brother in her heart, yet he always seeks help from her. Even going to the Crown Princess would be better than Second Sister-in-law."

Amidst all this playful commotion, and while Hongsheng was still struggling and making progress in just over four months, the Confucius Temple in Qufu, Shandong, was completed.

Yinzhi, who was often disliked by Emperor Kangxi a few years ago, has become exceptionally well-regarded among scholars and literati.

On the sixth day of the tenth month of the thirty-second year of the Kangxi reign, the Kangxi Emperor issued an imperial edict to send Yinzhi and Yinzhen to offer sacrifices.

With their bags full, Yinzhi and Yinzhen immediately set off on horseback towards Shandong to show the royal family's respect for Confucius.

The new Confucius Temple has a completely new look and inspires awe.

The Confucius Temple is surrounded by high walls and corner towers, with nine courtyards in total, more than 460 halls and pavilions, 54 gate towers, and more than 2,000 steles. Its main hall, Dacheng Hall, means "the culmination of the wisdom of ancient sages and worthies." It has double eaves and nine ridges, with interlocking brackets, and is magnificent and exquisite.

The hall houses statues of Confucius, his disciples, and other Confucian sages throughout history, and the library has been expanded with tens of thousands of new books.

While Yinzhi and Yinzhen were praising the grandeur of the newly built Confucius Temple, Yinti, with his pigeon-toed gait, went to find Yinreng again.
