Chapter 331 Fearless

Yuqing Palace was a small place, but when Kangxi arrived, he brought a large group of people with him. Hongzhao and the others heard the commotion and rushed over.

Among them, Hongzhao and Kangxi were the closest.

Hongzhao was not an enthusiastic person; he was calm and composed. But in front of Kangxi, he smiled brightly, ran up to Kangxi, and hugged his leg.

"Grandfather, Hongzhao will take you to see the little horse that Fourth Uncle carved." Hongzhao held Kangxi's hand, raised his hand to reveal his chubby little arm, which looked very well-fed.

Kangxi laughed and lifted him up with one hand, holding him in his arms: "Wasn't it your fourth uncle who gave it to Tana?"

Upon seeing this, Yinreng and Tong Wanyan each picked up Tana and Hongsheng respectively, showing no favoritism.

Tana leaned her head against Tong Wanyan's chest, beaming with joy.

"The Emperor is such a good person!" Tana whispered.

Tong Wanyan stood a few steps away from Kangxi, and they spoke in hushed tones, which Kangxi could not hear.

Tong Wanyan asked, "Why are you suddenly saying that?"

Tana chuckled, "Grandpa held my little brother, so Mommy has to hold me now. Mommy smells so good, I love Mommy the most."

The chubby little dumpling was so adorable that Tong Wanyan bounced her around in her arms, and suddenly felt that she could carry her around the entire Forbidden City with one arm.

Daughters are like warm cotton-padded jackets, the ancients were right.

Tana and her daughter Tong Wanyan were chatting sweetly, which made Yinreng envious.

He looked down at Hong Sheng, who was smiling sweetly at him, and instantly lost his temper.

Such a cheerful young man isn't quite right for this. With his sweet words, he'll surely charm countless daughters of high-ranking officials.

Hongsheng is such a sweet little thing, he's like a piece of candy inside and out.

When he saw Yinreng looking down at him, he immediately called out "Father" in a sweet, childish voice, his words as sweet as candy.

Unbeknownst to them, Tong Wanyan and Yinreng had followed behind Kangxi.

With Hongzhao around, their existence wasn't so necessary.

Western flowers are more exquisite than those of the Qing Dynasty, exuding a sophisticated and fashionable air from their buds to their leaves.

If we were to use a metaphor, the flowers of the Qing Dynasty would be like fairies, while the flowers of the West would be like spirits; both are beautiful, possessing both grandeur and exquisiteness.

The Imperial Garden is mostly planted with rare native flowers and plants. No matter how beautiful they are, they become the same after a while.

Emperor Kangxi held his beloved grandson in his arms, thinking to himself that this trip to admire the flowers was worthwhile.

"Hongzhao's speech is becoming more and more fluent. I heard from your father that he has memorized the Thousand Character Classic and the Three Character Classic for his early education? He can also read the Analects smoothly?" Kangxi has been busy lately and has not seen Hongzhao for half a month, so he feels that his grandson has grown up quite a bit.

Hongzhao wrapped his arms around Kangxi's neck and said calmly, "Mother teaches my sister and me to read every day and praises us for being smart. But Father says he was much smarter than us when he was young. Is that true, Grandfather?"

The soft, chubby little dumpling looked expectantly at Kangxi with its big, black pearl-like eyes.

Kangxi immediately spoke frankly. As someone who had taught both Yinreng and Hongzhao, he firmly said, "Your father was the most intelligent among his brothers, but the student surpasses the teacher, and you are even more intelligent than your father."

Hongzhao's eyes lit up, he puffed out his chest, and leaned forward to say to Yinreng behind Kangxi, "Father, Grandfather said I'm smarter than you were when you were a child! You must listen to Grandfather and not say anything about me and my sister anymore."

Originally, nothing was wrong, but Yinreng was suddenly provoked by his son's shout, which made him furious.

"Your imperial grandfather is just fooling you!" Yinreng had no weakness for the weak.

Hongzhao didn't believe him. After he finished speaking, he shrank back and snuggled into Kangxi's arms, ignoring Yinreng.

Kangxi chubby-cheeked and pinched his plump cheeks, which still felt wonderful. Chubby babies are adorable, not only because they're cute, but also because of their soft, fluffy flesh; it feels so good to squeeze them.

"Don't bully your father," Emperor Kangxi said, doting on his grandson.

Hongzhao said with a hint of grievance, "I can't bully Father. Mother says Father is a jealous man, and we have to give in to him."
