Chapter 36 Auspicious Dragon and Phoenix

If it were an outsider, the crown prince could easily make a decision.

If the woman comes from a prominent family and is valued by her maternal family, then the mother should be saved. Otherwise, the younger sister should be saved.

The continuation of royal blood is of utmost importance, and everything should take it as the priority.

"No need to ask anymore. I want my concubine to be safe. As for my children, I also want you all to ensure their safety!" the Crown Prince threatened coldly.

The imperial physician wiped the sweat from his brow, bent over, and withdrew.

The Empress Dowager was extremely anxious in Ning Shou Palace. She sent her personal maid to Yu Qing Palace to help as much as possible.

Tong Wanyan woke up from her fainting spell for the fourth time. She held Ling Mama's hand and said, "I want to save the child! This is the child that Master has been longing for. He is my lifeblood. If I don't make it, I'll trouble Ling Mama to take good care of him for me. As long as he is well, as long as Master is well, I will have lived a full life."

"I will not allow it, I will not permit it! You like children, and I can give them to you later. But if you are gone, the children will not benefit even if they live on."

The imperial physician pressed his ear against the window, and although the sounds inside the room were faint, he could hear them clearly.

Startled by his sudden voice, Tong Wanyan's abdomen contracted, and half of the baby's head emerged.

"Consort, the baby's head is out, and the position is right. Just push hard and the baby will be out. Then everything will be fine!" Granny Ling kept a close eye on Tong Wanyan's movements.

Fifteen minutes, then twenty minutes, Tong Wanyan felt as if she were being torn apart by a chariot.

As evening approached, the sky was ablaze with crimson clouds, and the afterglow of the setting sun shone with golden light.

A baby's cry echoed throughout Yuqing Palace.

The prince stood by the window, pinching a notch in the edge of the window frame with his fingers.

Tears slid down his face and landed on his hands.

Scalding tears dripped onto the back of my frozen, numb hand.

"How is the concubine?" the Crown Prince roared.

With a headache and a panicked heart, Ling Mama looked at the wrapped-up baby: "Consort, you're carrying another one! Consort, you must hold on!"

The prince's legs gave way, and he collapsed to the ground.

There's one more, isn't that too many?

"One at a time is fine, I don't mind waiting a bit longer," the Crown Prince muttered to himself foolishly.

He was alone, with De Shun standing guard outside to prevent anyone from seeing the Crown Prince in such a state.

The people inside had no energy left to listen to the whispers outside; they were on edge, fearing something might happen.

The pain had been so intense that Tong Wanyan was almost numb.

Having had the experience before, she remained incredibly calm and quickly gave birth to her second child.

"Congratulations, Your Highness! Your concubine has given birth to twins, a boy and a girl! What a joyous occasion!"

Just as Emperor Kangxi came over to find the Crown Prince to return to his study, he happened to hear the good news.

"Reward! Reward! Reward!" Kangxi laughed and said repeatedly.

The Qing imperial family had never had twins, so the fact that the crown prince was now blessed with twins must mean that heaven had bestowed a good omen.

The Crown Prince suppressed his urge to enter the delivery room and turned to greet Emperor Kangxi.

"Father, your son has a son! You have a grandson!" The Crown Prince didn't mention Tong Wanyan or the little princess at all.

Emperor Kangxi glared at him angrily: "My granddaughter, I love her just as much!"

"You now have sons and daughters, you mustn't show favoritism," Kangxi said earnestly. "Today is your elder brother's birthday. When he was born, the sky was filled with rosy clouds. In fact, that scene is quite similar to today!"

Kangxi was referring to the crown prince's elder brother, who had died young and was the son to whom he had placed great hopes and all his affection.

The Crown Prince was secretly delighted, but outwardly remained nonchalant: "I understand, Father Emperor. Rest assured, my princess will live a good life. Your grandson will be raised even better!"
