Chapter 435 The Aura of an Eldest Sister

Although I plan to have another child, I have been using contraceptive decoction, and even though the medicine is mild and does not harm my body, I still need to recuperate for a while.

Right now, Tong Wanyan's task is to pack her things and prepare for her short stay at Changchun Garden.

After all, it can be as short as a month or as long as two months. If things in the house aren't properly locked up, there's no guarantee that something won't go wrong.

Even in the palace, there are those who are dishonest.

Tong Wanyan didn't need to worry about the tedious tasks; her subordinates would handle them. But she needed to be there to oversee things, and she had to make the final decisions on anything she was unsure about.

As Hongsheng counted down the days, on June 17th, the six masters of Yuqing Palace, along with Emperor Kangxi and the Empress Dowager, went to Changchun Garden.

Changchun Garden was built specifically to provide a summer retreat.

Therefore, its environment is beautiful and pleasant, with abundant mountains, rivers, and vegetation, which is more relaxing than the solemnity and majesty of the Forbidden City.

As soon as Hongsheng got off the carriage, he ran forward like a foal that had broken free of its reins.

"It's so beautiful! It's completely different from Yuqing Palace, it's so much bigger!" Hongsheng exclaimed sincerely, his words very simple and honest.

Hongzhao's lips twitched, and he turned to look at Tana standing next to him, feeling incredibly relieved. Thankfully, his biological sister was his older sister, not this silly-looking younger brother.

Tana noticed the complex emotions in Hongzhao's eyes: "What's wrong?"

“Hong Sheng is too excited,” Hong Zhao said.

Tana nodded knowingly: "I understand."

Hongzhao was bewildered, but his sister understood something.

Tana darted forward, grabbed Hongsheng by the back of his collar, and easily dragged the chubby boy, whom even the two eunuchs couldn't stop, back.

Upon closer inspection, her movements and speed were exactly the same as Yinreng's; they truly were father and daughter.

“Look, I’ve brought him back to you,” Tana said to Hongzhao.

Hongzhao was completely bewildered; that wasn't what he meant.

However, he must not let his sister's good intentions go to waste, otherwise he might be the next one to be subdued by force.

Hongzhao, with an innocent and kind expression, accepted Tana's handover of Hongsheng: "Thank you for your hard work, sister."

"You're welcome. The little guy has a lot of energy. I'll take him to practice martial arts for a few days tomorrow, and he won't have the energy to cause trouble then," Tana said generously.

The interactions between the three siblings were all observed by Tong Wanyan and Shi Xiuzhu.

Tong Wanyan coughed lightly: "Playing and running around is fine, but you have to stay away from the pond and the rockery. If you bump into something and get hurt, your mother will be heartbroken."

The three children hurriedly ran to Tong Wanyan's side, surrounding her and assuring her, "Mother, don't worry, we'll behave well and won't run around or deliberately lose our servants. We've remembered everything you told us."

True to his word, Hongsheng was extremely well-behaved for the rest of the journey.

If they catch something that interests them, they'll stare at it for a few seconds, maybe run a few steps, but they won't disappear like a whirlwind.

As I crossed the Nine-Bend Bridge, I saw that some of the water lilies on the river had already bloomed. The lotus leaves were emerald green, and the water lilies were vibrant red. As far as the eye could see, the water lilies were layered upon each other, making me feel as if I had arrived at a water town in southern China.

Shi Xiuzhu said, "It would be great if we could stay here permanently."

She was just saying that being able to stay there once a year was already thanks to Yinreng.

Other princes and their wives were not even qualified to come in and stay for a day.

"I heard that the Fourth Prince has also come?" Shi Xiuzhu recalled that Yinreng was not the only prince to move into Changchun Garden this year.

Tong Wanyan nodded: "The Fourth Prince is registered under Empress Tong's name, and is also a legitimate son."

“That makes sense,” Shi Xiuzhu said knowingly.
