Look at other people's sons, they are all so outstanding that it makes people envious, while my own son only knows how to cause trouble.
Tong Guowei, with the heart of a father, was both jealous and angry.
It's better to have a daughter.
When Empress Tong was still alive, their family was thriving. They dared not act recklessly, for fear of implicating Empress Tong in the palace.
Now, Tong Guogang's youngest daughter is in the Crown Prince's Eastern Palace, and even the father-son relationship in their family has improved.
Orondai used to be the kind of guy who could flip a table in front of Tong Guogang. He would often stand up for himself and shout for violence, bullying his half-brother Fahai so much that he was left hungry and cold.
Don't overthink things; the more you think about them, the more upset you'll feel.
Seeing his younger brother's eyes redden with anger, Tong Guogang's heart softened, and he couldn't bring himself to take his anger out on him.
He repeated exactly how Tong Guowei had comforted him before, word for word, and returned it to Tong Guowei.
“The child is old and doesn’t know any better, a good beating will do the trick. If that doesn’t work, just kick him out of the house.” Tong Guogang patted Tong Guowei on the back, speaking with deep affection.
Tong Guowei took this to heart: "Brother, this family can't be divided. They dare to do such a morally depraved thing right under my nose. If it's divided, I won't be able to control them anymore. I originally thought that since he's the youngest son, I would choose a well-behaved and obedient wife for him to prevent him from having too many ambitions. Who knew that his wife has no ambitions, but he has a very big ambition."
"If I had known this would happen, I would have arranged for him to marry the daughter of a high-ranking official. If he does anything improper, I would have whipped him," Tong Guowei said fiercely.
As luck would have it, Longkodo overheard this conversation when he arrived.
He walked with his feet turned outwards, completely unaware that he was the one about to be slapped.
"Did Uncle upset your eldest cousin again? Your eldest cousin has always had a bad temper, please don't take it to heart." Longkodo smiled handsomely.
Orondai stood behind the door. As soon as Longkodo entered the room, he immediately closed the door and grinned maliciously at him.
What goes around comes around; he finally got caught.
There's a Chinese saying, "to kick someone when they're down." Today, he's not only going to throw stones, but he's going to take the biggest stone and smash it hard on Longkodo's head.
"Kneel down!" Tong Guowei said.
Longkodo raised an eyebrow. Although he had a bad feeling, based on past experience, he said to Orondai with a gloating expression, "Big brother, should I step aside first?"
“Avoid what? Your second uncle is telling you to kneel down.” Orondai handed Tong Guowei a stick as thick as an arm.
When a thin willow twig hits someone, it hurts only the skin and flesh.
If this thick stick touches your body, it will injure your internal organs.
The relationship between Orondai and Longkodo, cousins, was fragile and even intertwined with hatred.
Caught off guard, Longkodo's knees were bent by Tong Guowei's kick, and he fell to his knees.
Orondai thoroughly enjoyed the crisp sound.
If Tong Wanyan weren't forbidden from leaving the palace, he would have loved to let his sister hear it with her own ears, so as not to upset the little prince or princess in her belly.
"Father, are you mistaken? Who has badmouthed you?" Longkodo dared not get up, but shouted at the top of his lungs.
Tong Guowei sneered: "Misunderstanding? You think you've taken a fancy to your father-in-law's concubine and want to ask the Crown Prince's concubine to pat her on the back?"
"She's just a concubine, so what if she's my father-in-law's? The late emperor even took my brother's primary wife and made her an imperial concubine. I've only taken a fancy to a concubine. My father-in-law is too old to enjoy such a beauty. Why not give her to me?"
"Father, are you angry because your son wants to steal your father-in-law's concubine, or because your son has troubled the concubine?"
It must be said that Longkodo got right to the point.
The ancestors of the Qing Dynasty lived outside the Great Wall, where ethics and morality were not highly valued. It was common practice there for sons to succeed fathers and brothers to succeed brothers. Even in Mongolia today, the same applies.
The fundamental principles of morality and chastity are what the Han people uphold.
