While Longkodo lay unconscious on the bed, Yuqing Palace was in a state of chaos and activity.
Eight years later, Yuqing Palace welcomed the birth of a newborn again. Everyone was busy and worried about the arrival of the little one.
Yinreng and Shi Xiuzhu sat together outside the delivery room, cursing and swearing, wishing they could drag Longkodo over and beat him to death.
They had protected it so well; after ten months of pregnancy, the baby was born, and everyone was at ease.
As it turned out, Longkodo's visit angered Tong Wanyan, and that very night Tong Wanyan's water broke.
The imperial physicians and midwives, still half-asleep, splashed cold water on their faces to try and wake themselves up.
The Yuqing Palace was brightly lit inside and out, as bright as day.
Tong Wanyan lay on the bed, sweat beading on her forehead: "Tell the Crown Prince to stop cursing, it's getting irritating to hear."
Yinreng was forced to shut up, and Shi Xiuzhu didn't have time to laugh at him.
“I have an old ginseng root there, let’s take it and keep it in reserve,” Shi Xiuzhu said.
"This servant thanks the Crown Princess on behalf of the Consort. However, the imperial physician said that the Consort's pregnancy looks very good and should go smoothly," Xia Zhu, who came out to deliver the message, thanked Shi Xiuzhu.
"If you need anything, just come out and tell us," Shi Xiuzhu said. "Go inside and serve your master."
At dawn, a baby's cry rang out from the delivery room, powerful and louder than that of a full-term infant.
Yinreng gazed at the rising sun, his beard unkempt and his eyes bloodshot.
"How is the concubine?" Yinreng asked his darling as soon as he saw the nanny carrying the baby out.
He shouldn't have forgotten his lesson and is now thinking of having Xiao Yan have another child. From pregnancy to birth, it's been too agonizing.
"The concubine is doing very well. Congratulations, Your Highness, the little prince is very healthy," the nanny said with a smile.
I couldn't get into the delivery room, so I could only see my son first.
Yinreng and Shi Xiuzhu went to the nanny's side at the same time to peek at the robust little guy and see just how fat he was.
"No wonder my sister's belly is so big. The Third Prince is probably quite tall now." Shi Xiuzhu thought to herself, thankful that she gave birth early. If she had waited until full term, the delivery would probably have been much more painful.
When Yinreng saw his youngest son for the first time, he thought of something similar to Shi Xiuzhu.
However, he would never say such things out loud.
In fact, after calming down, he and Shi Xiuzhu both knew that Tong Wanyan's premature birth had nothing to do with Longkodo.
There are quite a few pregnant women who give birth in September. But since they don't intend to make Tong Wanyan suffer any more, the blame for the premature birth and its harmful effects must be placed on Longkodo.
Yinreng and Shi Xiuzhu shared a great deal of consensus on a certain point.
As soon as it was light, the message from Yuqing Palace was immediately delivered to Qianqing Palace and Ningshou Palace.
Emperor Kangxi and the Empress Dowager didn't say anything about why the Crown Prince hadn't sent anyone to inform them. They were just anxious to send their trusted confidants to Yuqing Palace to keep an eye on things so they could report back to them as soon as the baby was born.
They thought they would have to wait a while, but Tong Wanyan gave birth so quickly. By the time the eunuchs from Qianqing Palace and the nannies from Ningshou Palace arrived, she had already given birth.
When asked, Yinreng replied, "He's not as good-looking as his older brothers and sisters."
That sounds like a hint of disdain.
He thought for a moment and added, "But it's not bad either. Even if Gu and Xiao Yan's child is ugly, he'll still be better looking than other people's children."
The weather in June is gradually getting hot.
As a servant, I have no right to ask Yinreng to bring the little prince out for another look.
After they relayed Yinreng's words to their respective masters, the Empress Dowager and Emperor Kangxi could no longer remain silent.
They need to go to Yuqing Palace to take a look; they can't trust the nonsense Yinreng is spouting!
