Chapter 506 Qingzhu Hongzhao

A teenager dislikes being treated like a child.

At their age, they are eager to grow up and hope to reach the adult world to see how wonderful it is.

Hongsheng was teased by his father and mother, and was eager to prove that he was not a child.

"The Crown Princess and the tutors in the Imperial Study both say that my painting is good." Hong Sheng stretched out his head, indicating that he also wanted to give his opinion.

However, upon standing in front of the paintings, one is struck by the stark contrast between the two styles. It's impossible to say which is better; both are breathtakingly beautiful and harmoniously interwoven.

The painting depicts a husband and wife, one in a moon-white robe and the other in a light purple qipao, standing hand in hand.

Although only the face was drawn, leaving the facial features blank, one could inexplicably feel the deep affection between the couple.

Hongsheng tried hard to distinguish between his father and mother, sweating profusely, but still couldn't find a way.

"Sister, who draws better, Father or Mother?" Hongsheng looked at Tana expectantly.

My sister is so smart, she'll definitely be able to tell the difference.

Tana pondered for a moment, then looked up and smiled sweetly, "They all look good!"

"Huh?" Hongsheng pouted, dissatisfied. "Sister is playing both sides! That's unfair!"

“In each other’s eyes, Father and Mother are each other’s most beautiful,” Tana said.

Hongsheng looked down at the painting, then looked up again, comparing the two people with the figures in the painting.

In the end, he had to admit that his sister was right.

“There’s still so much blank space on the paper, why don’t my sister and I draw ourselves on it too? We’re a family of six, and no one can be missing.” Hongsheng clapped his hands excitedly.

His long eyelashes fluttered, full of anticipation.

Tana was also itching to try. She was a grown woman now, not as boisterous as she used to be.

"Father, Mother, is it alright?" Tana asked hesitantly.

"Xia Zhu, go and fetch paintbrushes for the princess and prince." Tong Wanyan would never refuse her children's request.

When Hongzhao returned from Qianqing Palace, he was taken to Nanyuan by a young eunuch who was waiting there as soon as he arrived at the entrance of Yuqing Palace.

Along the way, the young eunuch explained things to him as they walked, which made Hongzhao very eager to learn. Later, Hongzhao took long strides and walked as fast as the wind.

At first, the young eunuch could keep up, but later he could only jog to catch up with his master.

Knowing his master was anxious, the little eunuch, panting from running, didn't dare utter a sound and told Hongzhao to slow down.

As they approached Nanyuan, Hongzhao slowed his pace, and the little eunuch finally caught up with him.

Hongzhao wiped the sweat from his forehead, calmed his breathing several times, and then walked into the South Garden like a graceful young man.

"The eldest prince is back!"

Upon seeing Hongzhao, the palace maids and eunuchs of Nanyuan bowed repeatedly and passed the message to Tong Wanyan.

Tong Wanyan finished the last stroke and looked at the portrait she had drawn of Yinreng with satisfaction.

Then, she decisively put down her pen and went out to pick up her eldest son.

“Hongzhao has lost weight!” Tong Wanyan stared intently at Hongzhao, tears welling up unexpectedly.

Judging by the timeline, Hongzhao had moved into the side hall of the Qianqing Palace half a month ago to follow Kangxi's instructions.

Hongzhao didn't bother with the formalities and anxiously stepped forward, bowing slightly so that his mother could take a good look at him and pat his head.

“Mother, don’t cry. From today onwards, your son will be living back here.” Hongzhao also missed his mother.

“It’s time to come back and live here. Your yard is kept tidy every day, just like it was before you left.” Tong Wanyan stroked his face.

Since the beginning of the year, Hongzhao has been growing rapidly. He eats a lot and grows fast, but he's losing weight in his face and body.

His clear, bright eyes and slender, upright figure resembled a green bamboo shoot.

It looks good, shedding the childishness and gradually becoming like an adult who can shoulder heavy responsibilities.

However, mothers always see their children as the same infants in swaddling clothes, and they can't bear to let them face the elements.
