No one present was stupid, especially Tong Wanyan, who knew the whole story.
Li Jiashi ultimately did not want to see Yinreng become angry and not spare her sister's life.
"Your Majesty, please forgive me, but my younger sister is probably young and naive, and has secretly pledged her life to another man." Li Jia felt it was difficult to say, but she had to.
Given how stupid Li Jia is, she can't keep it a secret for long.
Yinreng's face turned cold; he knew nothing about the matter.
De Shun told him that Li Jia's younger sister insisted on becoming his concubine, so he didn't have anyone investigate carefully and rushed over to avoid getting angry.
Who would have thought that after hearing those words at the door, they would secretly pledge their lives to each other? They're just asking for trouble!
While the Emperor is fighting on the front lines, the women in the harem are doing all sorts of dirty things, they're all heartless.
"Deshun, drag Xiao Lijia away and interrogate her thoroughly." Yinreng's face turned cold, and a chill emanated from his body, so no one dared to provoke him.
Little Li Jia was trembling with fear and dared not resist as they dragged her away.
She still held a sliver of hope, after all, the person she had confided in appeared to be of noble birth. Even if he wasn't the crown prince, he couldn't be too far off.
Before anyone could resort to vigilante justice, Xiao Lijia spilled the beans and explained everything clearly.
She had only been at Yuqing Palace for two days when Deshun investigated and quickly traced it back to the Third Prince, Yinzhi.
Consort Rong was tall, and her son Yinzhi inherited this trait, being tall with long legs.
Even though he was a few years older than Yinreng, they were not much different in height. Moreover, Yinzhi loved reading and had the appearance of a scholar, appearing quite profound.
It's perfectly normal for Xiao Lijia to be so caught up in the excitement and get tricked.
Yinzhi, who was flirting with the palace maids in the princes' quarters, was suddenly dragged to Yuqing Palace, and was very angry and confused.
When he saw Xiao Lijia kneeling to one side, sobbing uncontrollably, his expression changed slightly.
Alright, there's no need to ask anymore. Everyone knows who did this stupid thing.
"Second Brother Crown Prince," Yin Zhi called softly, his eyes involuntarily drifting towards Lady Li Jia.
Yinreng's face was as cold as frost; he hadn't expected it to be true.
He had originally thought that Xiao Lijia would embellish the story, but now it seemed that Xiao Lijia was just stupid, but she didn't lie.
“Last time you came to Yuqing Palace to apologize, I thought you had become sensible.” Yinreng was very disappointed.
Yinzhi didn't understand the meaning in the Crown Prince's eyes. He shamelessly said, "Second Brother Crown Prince, I didn't mean it. No one else knows about this. I really like her. Since you don't like her, why don't you just give her to me?"
Tong Wanyan glanced at him sideways, wishing she could spit in his face.
Li Jia and the Crown Prince had similar expressions.
How could you have the nerve to say such a thing? It's utterly shameless!
"Third Prince, please be careful with your words. Lady Li is the daughter of a minister, from a respectable family, and not a palace maid or servant. If you truly like her, you should wait until the Emperor returns to the capital, or go to Consort Rong and properly take her as your concubine."
"Furthermore, the Third Prince is also a son of the emperor. Why would he use his status as the Crown Prince to deceive a naive young girl? Lady Li Jia keeps saying that she cares about the Emperor. If the Emperor hadn't been upright, we wouldn't have dared to act recklessly. Otherwise, wouldn't we be smearing the Emperor? Shouldn't the Third Prince apologize to the Emperor for his actions?"
Tong Wanyan was so angry with Yin Zhi that she didn't hold back and gave him a thorough dressing-down.
Yinzhi was incompetent, but had a temper.
He defiantly retorted, "Consort Tong, this is a matter between my master and my second brother. What right do you have to interfere?"
Tong Wanyan was the apple of Yinreng's eye. He would never raise his voice to her normally, but today he was scolded by Yinzhi.
Yinreng stared at Yinzhi expressionlessly, which frightened him so much that fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
Despite the cool, refreshing air emanating from the ice basins placed in the main hall, Yin Zhi was drenched in sweat.
"Second Brother Crown Prince, we are brothers. I was wrong in this matter, but it's just a small thing, not worth making a big deal out of, right? Anyway, I've never lied to anyone, and besides, I just acquiesced. It's just that she mistook me for you, and I just went along with it." Although Yinzhi sensed that Yinreng's aura was off, he still acted recklessly.
Yinreng subtly shielded Tong Wanyan behind him, his eyes filled with impatience towards Yinzhi.
Using his name, she harassed the minister's daughter and spoke rudely to his beloved.
What's the point of keeping a brother like that?
"I will not personally concern myself with matters of the inner palace. I will hand over Lady Li Jia to Consort Yi and Consort Hui for them to deal with. As for you, daring to impersonate my Crown Prince today, do you still want my position as heir apparent in the future?" Yinreng said sternly, his voice intimidating.
Yin Zhi shuddered in fright, still trying to make a last-ditch effort: "This matter could be big or small. If my second brother, the Crown Prince, doesn't say anything, who will know?"
"And what about when you offended my concubine?" Yinreng changed the subject.
At this moment, how could Yin Zhi not understand? He trembled as he wiped his forehead and bowed his head to admit his mistake: "Second Sister-in-law, I misspoke in my haste. Please forgive me."
Tong Wanyan would certainly not agree to any forgiveness or understanding.
The last time Consort Dong'e and Consort Rong plotted against her hasn't even ended yet, and now there's another one. If she forgives them, it would be too magnanimous of her.
Tong Wanyan curtsied slightly to Yinreng and said, "Your Majesty, Hongzhao and Tana should be awake by now. I shall take my leave."
Yinreng nodded: "I will be there shortly."
Yin Zhi watched helplessly as Tong Wanyan walked past him, his face stinging from the slap.
Li Jia sat in the chair, fidgeting restlessly. Tong Wanyan was gone; what was the point of her staying? Forget about keeping her heartless sister in check; sparing her life was enough. She wouldn't concern herself with anything else.
