As night deepened, Qingying led Song Changrun to a side room next door.
She had someone put hallucinogenic drugs in Song Changrun's cup beforehand, and he was lured to bed in a daze.
"Sanlang, come here..." Qingying smiled, her eyes slightly upturned, exuding charm that almost bewitched Song Changrun.
As he drew closer and closer, Qingying slowly raised her hand, releasing the sleeping potion hidden in her sleeve. Song Changrun's eyes rolled back, and he collapsed straight towards her. She quickly dodged to the side.
Looking at the man lying beside her, Qingying's expression gradually turned cold.
She straightened her slightly disheveled clothes, got up, and left the room.
The maid was waiting outside the door. When she saw her come out, she curtsied and said, "Miss Liu."
"What time is it now?"
It's almost midnight.
Qingying frowned slightly. "I brought him here at 7 PM, and two hours have passed and he still hasn't come out?"
The maid coughed awkwardly and mumbled, "They probably still have a lot to say."
"You can't say everything at this time," Qingying said, quite annoyed, as she peeked towards the bridal chamber.
The maid immediately stepped in front of her and whispered, "Miss, you are not yet married, so it is best not to look at things that are improper."
"I can't see anything here either."
Their bridal chamber was in the inner room; from where she looked, she could only see candlelight shining inside.
However, the maid's words were not without reason. After all, she was still a young lady in her boudoir, and it was said that she should not be the one to witness the wedding night and the spring night.
Qingying put on a black cloak and a wide hat to cover herself up, then sat on the stone steps to wait.
The maid stood properly to the side and waited with her.
About half an hour later, Jin Heng finally opened the door and came out of the bridal chamber. Upon seeing Qing Ying, he first walked over and bowed, saying, "I will remember your kindness today. I will definitely repair your jade ring properly."
"You're too kind, Grand Tutor. I did this for my own sake." Qingying stood up and dusted herself off.
She noticed that Jin Heng's long hair had clearly been retied, and his clothes were noticeably wrinkled, indicating the intensity of the battle... She hurriedly looked away.
"Where is Song Changrun right now?" Jin Heng asked.
Qingying pointed to the house behind her.
Jin Heng pushed open the door and went in. He immediately saw the man lying on the bed. He carried the man out and said to Qingying, "Please wait a moment, Miss."
Qingying nodded, took out a cloth bag from her sleeve and handed it over, "This is what the princess needs."
He took it, thanked him, and carried Song Changrun into the bridal chamber.
Not long after, he came out again, and the two of them quietly left the Song residence through the back door.
Just as they stepped out of the alley, a carriage suddenly stopped in front of them, blocking their way.
Both of them were taken aback.
They remained on the sidelines for the time being, appearing calm on the surface, but in reality, they were extremely panicked.
Tonight's events are inherently risky; if they make a single wrong move, they will face an abyss.
A slender, clean hand reached out from inside the carriage and slowly lifted the curtain. The two held their breath, watching as a tall figure stepped out.
"Grand Tutor, it's so late, where are you taking my future Crown Princess?"
Jin Heng's expression did not soften upon seeing that it was him. On the contrary, his eyes became sharper, and his voice was cold and deep. "Your Highness, please do not misunderstand. I only gave Miss Liu a ride because I happened to meet her."
"Does the Grand Tutor himself believe what he's saying?"
Jin Heng frowned slightly, no longer bothering with further negotiation, and asked bluntly, "What do you want?"
Wei Huaixu's gaze passed over him and landed on Qingying behind him, a half-smile on her face. "I am not one to meddle in other people's business and will not make things difficult for you. As long as you keep her here, I will turn a blind eye to what happened tonight."
Qingying helped him today, how could Jinheng abandon her and leave alone?
"Does Your Highness's action seem somewhat despicable?"
"Despicable?" Wei Huaixu tilted his head slightly, looking completely innocent. "I think it's more despicable for some people to enter the bridal chamber with another person's wife on their wedding night."
Upon hearing this, both Qingying and Jinheng were stunned.
He actually knew... How could he know?!
Qingying looked around. Although it seemed empty and there wasn't a single person in sight, her intuition told her that Wei Huaixu's men should be hiding in the shadows.
"Grand Tutor Jin, please let me down. I'll go with him," she whispered.
Jin Heng gritted his teeth, not wanting to do it. "How can I let you sacrifice for us again?"
"After all, I am still his fiancée, and he won't do anything to me," Qingying insisted.
Wei Huaixu sat outside the carriage, crossed his legs, and chuckled, "Have you made up your mind? My patience is limited."
"Grand Tutor Jin," Qingying tugged at his sleeve, her voice pleading, "this matter must not be known to anyone else."
Knowing the pros and cons, Jin Heng had no choice but to swallow his anger and let her go for the time being.
Qingying nodded to him and quickly walked towards Wei Huaixu. As soon as she got there, her right wrist was grabbed and she was gently pulled into a slightly firm but warm embrace.
"Very well, Grand Tutor, take care. I won't see you off." The man's deep voice came from above.
Then, she was pulled into the carriage by a pair of strong arms around her waist.
She heard the sound of horses' hooves and wheels rolling on the ground, and she was taken into the carriage and imprisoned in a corner.
Qingying looked up at the person in front of her. There were no lights inside the carriage, and even with her eyes wide open, she could only see a blurry outline in the darkness.
Perhaps it was because they hadn't been this close in a long time, but she felt that his aura had become completely unfamiliar.
"Didn't you chase after Liu Shushu today?"
"Mmm." He lowered his head slightly, his warm breath brushing against her hair.
"When did you get back?"
"just."
"But……"
He interrupted her question and said in a low voice, "Jiaojiao, there have always been people by your side."
Upon hearing this, Qingying's pupils contracted sharply, her eyelashes trembled slightly, and her face was filled with disbelief and the joy of finding what she had lost. Her voice trembled uncontrollably, "You...you remembered everything?"
“No.” Wei Huaixu suddenly stepped back and sat down to the side, his tone indifferent. “I have read the letter you wrote to me.”
I see……
Qingying couldn't hide her disappointment. She lowered her head and took a while to regain her composure before asking, "Why were you there just now? Was it just to take me away?"
"Yes, the people at the General's Mansion have already discovered that you are missing. Only by sending you back can this lie be better covered up."
Why are you helping me?
“This is what I owe you.” Wei Huaixu leaned against the carriage wall, looking at her from a distance, and said slowly, “I have heard all those rumors. You waited for me for three hundred days, prayed for me, and wrote vows. Even though I am now safe and sound, you still keep the promise you made before Buddha, offering incense every day and abstaining from meat. So, this is what I owe you.”
