Chapter 5 Breaking in

Chapter 5 Breaking in

As night fell, Yan Chu lay on the soft big bed, but couldn't sleep.

The ending of the original book is that the zombie king group wiped out the protagonist group.

Her mission is to destroy the zombie king, rewrite the ending and save the world.

She fights the Zombie King?

Yan Chu, who had never even fought with anyone in his previous life, couldn't help but sigh.

No matter how I think about it, it seems very abstract.

Yan Chu stared out the window with her eyes open, tossing and turning as she spent her first night in this world.

The next day, the hotel was in chaos.

There were shrill screams one after another, and from time to time someone would fall from the building, with broken glass landing heavily on the ground.

Yan Chu is sharpening a knife in the kitchen at this moment.

The blade of the fruit knife was not sharp enough, and there was no whetstone in the house, so Yan Chu could only apply toothpaste on the bottom of the bowl and the blade to grind it.

She had to have something to protect herself.

Just in case you have to deal with zombies, or people.

Yan Chu was on the top floor, which was originally quite quiet. But near dusk, a chaotic and hurried sound of footsteps suddenly rang out from outside the door.

It sounded like a large group of people had arrived on her floor.

Yan Chu suddenly became alert. She tiptoed to the door and put her ear to it.

Outside the door, a middle-aged man with a rough voice was speaking.

"What are you afraid of? Let's find a place to hide first. Someone will definitely come to rescue us in a few days."

Another female voice was crying breathlessly: "The outside world has fallen, there are monsters everywhere, how can anyone come to save us..."

"Then what do you say we should do? Just cry, cry, cry!"

The woman stopped talking and just cried even more sadly.

A young voice stepped forward and advised, "Alright, alright, calm down. We're all trying to escape together. What's there to argue about?"

More than a dozen of them escaped by taking the hotel elevator, led by the tall and strong Yang Lei.

While everyone was escaping, Yang Lei killed several zombies with the machete in his hand.

So everyone has a natural trust in Yang Lei.

After arriving at the 25th floor of the hotel, Yang Lei noticed at a glance that the layout and decoration of this floor were obviously more exquisite and luxurious than those of other floors.

The key is that there are no zombies or people here.

Yang Lei's eyes fell on the room sign: "Why are there only two rooms?"

A waiter-dressed man in the crowd whispered, "These are all the hotel's presidential suites."

"Yo, presidential suite?"

Yang Lei had never seen what a presidential suite looked like in his life. With excitement flashing in his eyes, he strode to the door of room 2588 and reached out to press the door handle.

The door was locked and couldn't be opened.

He turned to look at the waiter: "Do you have a room card?"

The waiter was stunned. "The presidential suite's room cards are specially managed. I don't have that authority. But there should be someone in this room. Its indicator light is on."

Is there anyone inside?

Yang Lei frowned immediately and began to bang on the door: "Open the door! Open the door quickly!"

Inside the door on the other side, Yan Chu leaned against the tea cabinet blocking the door without making a sound.

Yang Lei stared at the motionless door in front of him, a nameless anger rising in his heart: "Who the hell is hiding in there? Open the door!"

Seeing this, several people followed suit and turned the door handle hard, trying to break the lock.

Yang Lei spat, rubbing his hands together and taking a few steps back: "Get out of the way, I'm going to kick this door open!"

Yan Chu frowned upon hearing this, his eyes falling on the food neatly arranged against the wall of the living room.

If these people broke in, not only would her home be lost, but all the food would also be divided up.

Yang Lei outside the door began to kick the door in frustration, causing the door and tea cabinet to shake violently, and a cloud of dust was stirred up on the wall and fell down.

He had only kicked four or five times when he was stopped by someone nearby.

"Brother Lei! Forget about this! The door over there is open! Let's go over there!"

Yang Lei was stunned for a moment, then he realized belatedly that there was more than one room on this floor.

At this moment, a man ran up from the stairs in a panic: "Oh no! Those monsters are coming up the stairs!"

The crowd suddenly became panic-stricken. This was already the top floor of the hotel, and there was no way to escape any higher.

Although Yang Lei looked tall and strong and very tough, and even chopped down a few zombies with a machete on the road, he was still afraid of those man-eating monsters.

He kicked the door again in anger, then quickly followed the others and hid in another empty suite on the 25th floor.

The noise outside the door gradually faded away.

Not long after, Yan Chu heard a creepy growl through the door.

That kind of low growl didn't sound like something that could be made by the human body. It was as if the vocal cords were torn, or as if something was stuck in the throat and the person was retching continuously.

Just listening to the sound makes one feel nauseous and want to vomit.

Is this a zombie?

Yan Chu tightly gripped the fruit knife in his hand and listened attentively to the noise outside with bated breath.

Fortunately, the zombies seemed to be just pacing back and forth in the corridor and had no intention of breaking in.

But it wasn't a good idea for her to just stand guard at the door like this.

Yan Chu glanced around the room and his eyes fell on the single sofa in the room.

It looks heavy enough, should be able to hold out for a while.

She struggled to push the sofa behind the door and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The speed at which zombies spread is terrifying, and public transportation such as airplanes, trains, and subways have basically stopped operating in various places.

After all, once a person in the incubation period sneaks in, almost no one can escape.

Schools, hospitals, commercial pedestrian streets... these places with large traffic flow have mostly become zombie nests.

The atmosphere of panic was rampant, and many people began to spread the word that this would be the end of mankind.

Later, online social platforms also began to crash one after another, either failing to connect to the server or simply going blank.

The mobile phone only has the most basic calling and texting functions.

In the room, Yan Chu put down his phone and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.

Night has fallen, and it is now her fourth night in this world.

On the night she first arrived, she could still see the colorful neon lights and dazzling night view around her through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Today, there are already large areas of buildings where even the lights are off.

The overpass below was littered with car accident debris, twisted car bodies and broken glass were scattered all over the ground, and large pools of blood almost dyed the road red.

Even though she was on the 25th floor, she could smell the blood in the air.

The dim street lights flickered frequently, and a dozen zombies were wandering unsteadily on the road.

Occasionally, a car would speed past, attracting zombies to follow the exhaust for a long time.

The spread of zombies was much faster and more troublesome than Yan Chu had imagined.

She originally wanted to avoid the most chaotic early stages of the zombie outbreak and wait until the situation stabilized before finding a way to rescue people and complete the mission.

Moreover, she had thought it through clearly beforehand that even if she saved people, she could only save those who were alone.

People’s hearts are unpredictable in the last days, and since they are all strangers, she has to be on guard against them.

But now the situation is obviously not so good.

There were almost no living people on the streets, and most of the survivors had gone into hiding.

And judging from the group of people at the door before, quite a few people should have formed small groups.

Where could she find someone who was alone?
