44. Detoxification
The Ghost Doctor strode into the bedroom, and without a word, went straight to the bedside. He gently placed his fingers on Liu Hanruo's pulse, finding it weak and thready, sometimes faint and sometimes weak. While taking her pulse, he asked:
"You brat, tell this old man your diagnosis. This old man wants to see if you've made any progress in the last few years."
Ouyang Ziren then slowly recounted his diagnosis. Listening to Ouyang Ziren's detailed description, the Ghost Doctor's face immediately showed a smug expression; clearly, he was very satisfied with Ouyang Ziren's account of the illness. However, when he heard Ouyang Ziren say there was no cure, he couldn't help but feel puzzled and asked:
"You brat, didn't you say that the Prince of Xiaoyao is your brother? This poison is troublesome, but it's not incurable. With your medical skills, you must know how to cure it!"
“Master…I can’t let Che take the risk…” Now that things had come to this, Ouyang Ziren no longer concealed the truth.
“If that’s the case, with the old man joining forces with you, we can definitely increase the success rate to seventy percent,” the Ghost Doctor said after thinking for a moment.
"Master, if we fail..."
"You brat, you're so fussy and indecisive, like a woman! Even your junior sister isn't this slow!"
The ghost doctor's words, spoken without thinking, stirred up Ouyang Ziren's concerns, and he couldn't help but ask:
"Master, where is Junior Sister?"
The Ghost Doctor gazed silently at Ouyang Ziren, sensing deep longing and eager anticipation in his eyes. He then spoke softly:
"You brat, solve the problem at hand first before thinking about anything else! You know your brother is waiting anxiously over there."
Seeing Ouyang Ziren nod and return to normal, the Ghost Doctor then asked the Carefree King:
"That prince, let me ask you one question: is it true that you would do anything for her, even die without regret?"
"Yes, senior, I care about nothing for Ruo'er."
"Alright, since that's the case, I'll tell you the only way to save her."
"Senior, please speak quickly!" King Xiaoyao urged anxiously, full of anticipation.
"The poison is circulating in her bloodstream, constantly damaging her cells. To prevent it from reaching her heart, we have no choice but to take a risk and drain her blood. However, there's no guarantee she won't die from blood loss during this process. The only one who can break this deadlock is you. If you can continuously infuse her with your own blood while she's draining the poison, she might have a chance to live, but..."
The Ghost Doctor slowly explained the method of salvation, finally introducing a turning point that made the Carefree King's heart leap into his throat, making him even more anxious. After a while, the Ghost Doctor continued:
"But let me be clear, this method also carries certain risks. After all, everyone has a minimum blood volume. Once it falls below that minimum, death is inevitable. And the old man doesn't know how long the entire poisoning process will take. If anything is handled improperly, it could lead to excessive blood loss and be beyond saving. In that case, not only will you be unable to save the person you want to save, but you might even lose your own life. You need to think this through carefully. Once you start, you can't stop!"
"Senior, when can we begin?" Without a second thought, the Carefree King nodded in agreement. To him, nothing was more important than Liu Hanruo.
"Let's go in an hour. The old man and that unfilial disciple should go and make preparations first."
After the Ghost Doctor finished speaking, he dragged Ouyang away, while the Carefree King stayed by Liu Hanruo's bedside, speaking softly to her. Although he received no response, he was still enjoying it.
Time flies, and an hour passed quickly. The Ghost Doctor returned with Ouyang. The two changed their magic, put on white coats, carried a large medicine box, and strode into the bedroom. They closed the door, blocking Hua Nishang's view, and began the long detoxification treatment.
The Ghost Doctor looked at the Carefree King and asked:
"If you regret it, do it now. Once the old man makes a move, it will be too late to regret it!"
"Senior, let's begin! I will have no regrets!"
The King of Leisure answered with unwavering determination, each word ringing with strength. If Liu Han could be treated this way by the King of Leisure, her life would not have been in vain.
Upon hearing the answer, the Ghost Doctor administered Mafeisan to the Carefree King. The Carefree King immediately felt weak all over, and then felt his blood slowly draining away. He wanted to turn his head to look at Liu Hanruo, but he had no strength at all. He could only stare blankly upwards, praying in his heart that everything would go smoothly.
The Ghost Doctor and Ouyang Ziren, being master and disciple, maintained their tacit understanding and cooperated seamlessly, saving a lot of time. In just the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, they successfully expelled most of the toxins from the body. At this moment, Ouyang Ziren seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, and his expression became much more relaxed. It seemed that the process of releasing the poison had gone quite smoothly, and only the last little bit was left. Just when Ouyang Ziren thought success was in sight, the Carefree King suddenly fainted at this critical moment and could not be woken up no matter how much he was called.
