46 Late-night conversation
"Master, what happened to my junior sister?" Ouyang Ziren asked anxiously.
"You brat, you don't need to ask anymore, this old man doesn't know anything!" Unlike Ouyang Ziren's anxiety, the Ghost Doctor appeared calm and composed.
"Master! Junior Sister, she..." This made Ouyang Ziren even more worried, and he couldn't help but raise his voice and shout urgently.
"You brat, how dare you speak to an old man so loudly? Do you think I'm hard of hearing?! You want a beating?!"
Knowing he was in the wrong, Ouyang Ziren lowered his voice, admitted his mistake, and asked again:
"Master, my junior sister..."
"You brat, it's your destiny. You'll know when it's your time! What's the use of rushing!"
Having been master and disciple for so many years, he knew the Ghost Doctor very well. He knew that there was no point in dwelling on the Ghost Doctor's unwillingness to talk about it, so he could only sigh and try to comfort himself.
It's like someone tells you the beginning but never tells you the ending. No matter what you think, it leaves you hanging on in a state of anxiety, worrying while also hoping. It's all just me overthinking, giving me enough space to construct what I think is a perfect ending. Although it's somewhat self-deceptive, it still gives Ouyang Ziren something to look forward to!
At noon, the sun was blazing, and people are most prone to feeling tired at such times. When the sunlight shone through the window onto the Ghost Doctor and Ouyang Ziren, it felt warm and cozy. Perhaps because the crisis had been averted, they calmed down and stopped being so tense. They began to relax and, after settling the Carefree King and Liu Hanruo in, they both fell asleep.
The silvery moonlight spilled onto the ground, and the breath of night permeated the air, weaving a soft net that enveloped all the scenery atop the clouds. Everything the eye could see was covered by this soft net; not a blade of grass, a tree, a tile, or a roof tile was as real as it was during the day. They all had a blurry, ethereal quality.
Each item conceals its subtle details and keeps its secrets, giving one a dreamlike feeling. All one can hear is the chirping of crickets, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, sometimes absent, with a beautiful melody that makes one unable to resist listening. It is this melody that awakens the sleeping person.
Liu Hanruo's eyelashes fluttered slightly, as if she was about to wake up. Sure enough, a moment later, she opened her eyes. The darkness of the room made her frown. At the same time, her stomach began to rumble. After looking around and gradually getting used to the darkness, she got up, slowly walked to the table, poured herself a glass of water, and drank it.
Liu Hanruo had been unconscious for so many days and hadn't eaten anything, relying only on pills to get by. How could a cup of water possibly alleviate her hunger? She forced her weak body to walk outside, hoping to find something to eat. But when she stepped out of the bedroom, everything that came into view made her freeze in shock.
Every table and chair, every picture and painting, every blade of grass and every tree—everything seemed so familiar, exactly the same place as in her memory. The answer was almost obvious, making Liu Hanruo's heart flutter with excitement, and she couldn't help but murmur:
"master!"
The voice was soft and slightly hoarse, but it was exceptionally clear in the quiet night. Just when I thought there would be no response, a soft sigh came.
"Why…"
Liu Hanruo turned her head at the sound. Although it was dark and she couldn't see clearly, she recognized the person at a glance as her master, the Ghost Doctor, Xiahou Yuan. She stood there blankly, forgetting to react.
Seeing this, Xiahou Yuan softly called out:
"Li'er!"
The simple word "Li'er" carried profound emotion, bringing tears to Liu Hanruo's eyes as she softly called out:
"master…"
The master and disciple stood there, one on the verge of tears, the other with eyes full of love. Liu Hanru ran towards her master, but she was too weak to withstand such an ordeal. She only took one step before losing her balance and falling to the ground.
The Ghost Doctor stepped forward to help Liu Hanruo up, jokingly scolding her for her recklessness, his concern evident in his words. Liu Hanruo wiped away her tears, remembered her current identity, and suddenly felt puzzled, asking:
"Master, Li'er has changed her appearance, how can you still know it's Li'er?"
"Fool, I know you are Li'er. The outcome is clear, so does the process still matter?"
“Master, I have long since given up on the name Leng Qingli. From the first day of my rebirth, I have made up my mind to continue living under the name Liu Hanruo. From now on, you can call me Ruo’er.” Liu Hanruo nodded and said.
"In that case, from now on I will call you Ruo'er. I ask for nothing else but that you remember the lessons of your past life and never act impulsively again!" The Ghost Doctor suddenly became serious.
"Master's teachings will be remembered by your mind, but the hatred of being killed and the annihilation of your family has caused you unbearable pain. You only want to kill your enemies with your own hands!"
Sensing Liu Hanruo's unwavering resolve for revenge, the Ghost Doctor couldn't help but sigh: Is everything truly predetermined? No matter how hard you try to change things, everything will ultimately continue along its original trajectory. If that's the case, then all he can do now is observe, watch everything unfold slowly, and offer guidance when necessary.
The Ghost Doctor shook his head helplessly and sighed, saying:
"Ruo'er, your rescue this time is all thanks to the Prince of Xiaoyao. He did it all for you..."
The Ghost Doctor slowly recounted everything that had happened to Liu Hanruo, and Liu Hanruo listened without saying a word, but tears seemed to glisten in her eyes.
"Ruo'er, revenge is important, but you must not ruin your life because of a moment of anger. You must know that a person lives for nothing else. If you can find a kindred spirit, that is enough!"
“Master, there’s no need to persuade me anymore. Having learned from my past life, I have already sworn that I will never be involved in love again and will live a wonderful life on my own! As for the Prince of Xiaoyao, I will repay what I owe him, but I will not give him any more feelings!” Liu Hanruo said resolutely, leaving no room for negotiation.
The master and apprentice chatted for a while longer before the Ghost Doctor went back to rest. Liu Hanruo, on the other hand, went to the carefree king's bedroom and sat on the table all night until the carefree king woke up the next day.
Seeing the pale-faced Prince Xiaoyao, perhaps out of guilt, Liu Hanruo stayed by his side and took meticulous care of him for a week until his health gradually improved. Then, the group bid farewell to the Ghost Doctor and set off back to the Prince's Palace.
---Aside---
I recommend my friend Mu Jin Luo Luo's sweet romance novel, "The Madam Has Arrived, Mr. President, Stand at Attention!"
It's very good-looking, and I have all sorts of fantasies about it.
