Chapter 113 For her, I only beg her not to run away again.

Lin Zaoyi: "..."

This person…

"Tan Zhaojing, where's your shame?!"

She tried to push and shove him out of his control, but the bastard was unreasonable and she couldn't hold him tightly no matter how hard she tried.

"Alright, I won't tease you anymore." Tan Zhaojing stroked her ruffled hair, his voice slightly hoarse. "Do you want to go to the inner room for a nap? I'll wake you up when it's time."

Lin Zaoyi gave him two words: "No need."

Tan Zhaojing didn't insist. He wasn't afraid of anything else, but he was afraid that this girl would turn on him. When she got stubborn, even a bull could only call himself a younger brother in front of her.

There was a knock on the door. "Mr. Tan."

The voice of Assistant Shao.

Tan Zhaojing pulled the person in his arms from his lap to the side, tugged at his pants, and said, "Get in."

Shao's assistant opened the door with some documents, and when his gaze fell on his aunt sitting on the sofa, a noticeable increase in pleasure appeared on his face. "Miss Lin, you're still here."

This can be interpreted literally as: Why haven't you left yet?

But when paired with Assistant Shao's tone and expression, it was quite the opposite.

Lin Zaoyi was somewhat surprised by this sudden enthusiasm. "Is there something you need from me?"

Assistant Shao: "No, I was just so happy to see you that I wanted to say hello."

The boss's voice came over in a low, somber tone, "What are you so happy about?"

"..."

Is she going to get jealous again?

Tan Zhaojing didn't receive an immediate response, so he glanced at her indifferently and said, "It's hard to answer."

Assistant Shao quickly shook his head, "It's not difficult."

To avoid being affected by the boss's lack of magnanimity, she frankly said, "Mr. Tan, to be honest, my mother arranged three blind dates for me, but I didn't go to any of them."

Tan Zhaojing didn't understand the connection, "Get to the point."

The key point is—

Assistant Shao didn't mince words, saying, "Because of you."

Tan Zhaojing: "I did stop you."

Assistant Shao: "You didn't stop me, but you made me work overtime for a whole month."

Tan Zhaojing: "..."

So he even became a stumbling block to his marriage.

I don't quite understand why he's so enthusiastic towards Zao Yi. Before I could ask, Assistant Shao said, "Now that you and Miss Lin have made up, can I go on a blind date after get off work? I'm quite satisfied with the person my mom arranged for me this time."

“Um… Assistant Shao,” Lin Zaoyi felt it necessary to clarify, “I’m talking to your General Manager Tan—”

The latter half of the speech died in his throat under the oppressive gaze of someone.

Assistant Shao could easily tell that there wasn't a big problem. The fact that Miss Lin was able to stay in the office meant that they were almost ready to reconcile; all that was left was for the boss to shamelessly pester her.

He handed over the documents with both hands, saying, "Mr. Tan, this is the project proposal."

Tan Zhaojing took it and put it aside, saying, "You can leave work as usual tonight."

Upon hearing this, Assistant Shao's spirits instantly lifted, and his eyes lit up. Relying on his nearly five-year friendship with his boss, he said something that sounded nice but was also a bit hurtful: "President Tan, I'll try to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to scout things out before you and Miss Lin get your marriage certificate."

Tan Zhaojing: "..."

Lin Zaoyi: "..."

The door closed gently, and after a brief silence in the office, a warm, deep voice rang out.

"What are your thoughts on what Assistant Shao said?"

After a couple of seconds of thinking about how to answer, the girl said, "I will definitely attend Assistant Shao's wedding."

Tan Zhaojing asked directly, "What about the two of us?"

Lin Zaoyi was tempted, but she was still clear-headed. Marriage could happen between anyone, but not between them. This was a consensus she had reached with herself a long time ago.

Her earlobe was tugged, and she turned her head. The man's eyes were gentle. "I'll try to be faster than Assistant Shao."

Even after being vaccinated, my heart still skipped a beat, and a flutter of excitement swept over me.

Lin Zaoyi pressed the button without making a sound, keeping her voice as even as possible, "If you don't have anything to do, go ahead and do your work. I need to revise the manuscript."

Unable to get a direct answer, Tan Zhaojing didn't insist. He only asked her not to run away again.

...

Twenty minutes before work, Lin Zaoyi arrived at the front desk. Unfortunately, she ran into Yuan Lai and Fu Sipei in the parking lot. The two were chatting and laughing. When they saw her, one was still smiling, while the other wore her emotions on her face, showing disdain and sneer.

Anticipating Fu Sipei's provocation, he retaliated without pause against her sarcastic remarks, "Regardless of whether I made any promises or not, it's you who's been using President Ming's identity to swindle people all day long. Does President Ming know about this?"

Fu Sipei blushed. "Who took it! This is ridiculous! Stop changing the subject!"

Lin Zaoyi remained unmoved, calm and composed. "Why are you so agitated? Are you feeling guilty?"

"Alright, why are you arguing?" Yuan Lai smiled at the two of them. "You're in the same group, get along well."

Lin Zaoyi sneered inwardly at this tactic, which was the usual one. If she didn't openly confront them, with so many eyes watching in the busy parking lot, she would have to play along.

"Editor-in-Chief Yuan, if we were really going to argue, I wouldn't be speaking so calmly. You mean well, but anyone who doesn't know the situation would think you're stirring things up."

Yuan Lai paused for a moment, then smiled again, "What are you talking about? What could I possibly be trying to sow discord about?"

“Isn’t it obvious?” Lin Zaoyi laughed. “Fu Sipei is jumping up and down like this, if you still pretend you don’t know, then you’re just making excuses.”

Fu Sipei couldn't wait to answer, "Who jumped!"

"Si Pei." Yuan Lai turned her head and winked at her. Fu Si Pei quieted down for a moment, but her anger was still raging. Her eyes were practically popping out of her head as she glared at Lin Zao Yi.

Lin Zaoyi didn't understand where Yuan Lai got the nerve to be so stubborn. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Yuan Lai raise her wrist to check the time, and then she heard her say, "I can't chat with you anymore. I need Tan's News urgently, and I have to finish the article."

This was said in a deliberately mocking tone, indicating that Yuan Lai hadn't received a call from the Tan family yet.

Fu Sipei's mocking voice rang out, "I wonder who said they wanted to monopolize Tan's News!"

Lin Zaoyi was not annoyed. "What's the rush? It's not too late to draw conclusions after the news is successfully released."

As expected, the last trace of feigned kindness on Yuan Lai's face vanished instantly. She looked over with a dark expression and said, "You think you can do this?"

The words had barely left his mouth when the phone rang.

It belongs to Yuan Lai.

Lin Zaoyi couldn't hear what was being said, but judging from her expression, it wasn't a good thing. In a short while, her face turned terrible.

Fu Sipei felt uneasy and immediately asked as soon as she hung up the phone, "Editor-in-Chief Yuan, is something wrong?"

Could it really be that Lin Zaoyi has monopolized the market?

Yuan Lai didn't say anything, her lips tightly pressed together. This time it was Lin Zaoyi's turn to feel triumphant. She asked insincerely, "Editor-in-Chief Yuan, do you need any help?"

The woman finally dropped her act, her gaze turning fierce. "Let's see how long you can be so smug!"

After saying that, he picked up his handbag and turned to leave.

Da da da—

She stepped very powerfully in her high heels.

The figure disappeared, but the sound remained.

After walking a distance and making sure Lin Zaoyi couldn't hear her, Fu Sipei spoke up, but before she could even get started, Editor-in-Chief Yuan glanced at her and said, "Quiet."

She awkwardly shut her mouth.
