Chapter 117 The husband is coaxing his wife
Duan Lin laughed angrily, pointing at the three bastards in the air with his finger, "Forming a clique, huh? I've been so open and honest with you, and what do you do? You're all heartless wolves!"
"Who's heartless and ungrateful?"
A clear and pleasant sound came over, Xixi's voice.
Although it was noon, Meng Henian frowned when he saw that she was only wearing a cardigan. He took off his coat and strode over to her, draping it over her shoulders. "Don't you know your own body?"
Meng Jinxi pouted, "It's not cold."
She looked up at him and asked, "What are you two talking about?"
“It’s nothing,” Meng Henian said, pulling out her long hair that was pressed against her collar. “Duan Lin is acting crazy.”
Meng Jinxi wasn't interested in why Duan Lin was acting strangely, and simply said, "You'll grill me some corn later."
"Um."
"And squid too."
"good."
"Give me a few skewers of lamb too."
He agreed to everything she said. Meng Jinxi winked mischievously and lowered her voice so that only he could hear, "Kiss me."
Meng Henian: "..."
He glanced at him. "Are you itching for a beating?"
Meng Jinxi hummed and nuzzled against his chest affectionately, "You can't bear to."
Meng Henian did not object to this statement, and pulled the person out of his arms, saying, "Let's go bask in the sun."
Lin Zaoyi didn't notice anything amiss at all. Duan Lin was different. Having learned from Tan Zhaojing's mistake, he couldn't help but think more carefully. Besides, He Nian and Jin Xi were not related by blood. Moreover, He Nian was adopted by the eldest branch of the Meng family, while Jin Xi was the child of the third uncle's family.
As for whether or not they can get married... that was a blind spot for him, so he gave the information to the lawyer.
A minute later, the lawyer replied, "You can terminate the adoption."
Duan Lin put his phone away, pulled Meng Henian aside, and said in a cryptic tone, "Tell me honestly, are you normal with Jin Xi?"
He believed He Nian could understand what was normal about it.
Meng Henian glanced at him indifferently, "Guess."
Duan Lin was almost speechless, looking at him like he was an animal, "Don't tell me you've followed Tan Zhaojing's old path."
Meng Henian declined to comment, saying, "If you're free, you can help with the grilling."
Having said that, he turned and left.
Duan Lin: "?"
Is this a tacit admission?
Why can't they all just be normal people?
On the other side of the courtyard.
Lin Zaoyi took the initiative to find something to do, picking up an ear of corn and peeling it, intending to give it to her aunt to make cheese corn later. However, her movements revealed her absent-mindedness.
The corn kernels either popped out of the bowl or fell to the ground.
It wasn't her fault; blame it on that annoying aura that kept lingering around her.
Three idlers sat at the other end of the long square table. To make it easier to watch the show, Tan Jiani moved her chair up a bit. Just watching without eating felt like something was missing, so she grabbed a handful of melon seeds. Tan Youxian found it troublesome and ate the fruit that the aunt had just cut.
Meng Jinxi felt as if she were dreaming back to a morning a few months ago.
The husband was trying to appease his wife again.
The husband held out his hand. "Give me the corn, you can go and rest."
His wife ignored him, muttering, "No need, can we go a little further away?"
The husband said, "Sure, but you have to come with me."
His wife turned to look at him and asked, "What are you thinking about?"
Husband: "I want to be with you."
His wife glared at him. "No need."
The husband remained indifferent throughout, saying, "Whether it's needed or not won't affect the outcome."
The wife seemed completely speechless.
Meng Jinxi's eyes narrowed into slits with laughter as she listened; just now, she had made her decision.
For her next drama, she asked her agent to get her a role as a married woman. The actress's ranking didn't matter; what mattered was that Meng Henian would play her husband.
Reality can't give her what she wants, but in the play, she'll get it.
Tan Jiani sighed, "It's so worrying. I thought the two of them had made up, but it turns out my brother was the only one who was interested."
Hearing this, she smiled and glanced at her, "Didn't you dislike Zaoyi before? Now you want her to be your sister-in-law?"
Tan Jiani: "...Who would want that!"
With her neck stiff and her tone harsh, she said, "I only reluctantly agreed because my brother likes her!"
Meng Jinxi insisted on exposing him, saying he was "saying one thing and meaning another."
Tan Jiani: "No way!"
Before the argument had subsided, Meng Henian arrived, followed by Ji Boshen, with Duan Lin bringing up the rear. Duan Lin was in a complicated mood; his childhood friend of so many years had turned out to be a complete beast.
The two girls are so cute, shouldn't we take good care of them?
We have to do it!
Unable to resist any longer, he sent a signal to one of the girls, "Zaoyi, you were forced into this, weren't you?"
Lin Zaoyi looked up in surprise, "Huh?"
"Don't be afraid, I'll back you up."
Then Duan Lin took off his suit jacket and threw it on a chair, rolled up his sleeves, and looked ready to beat someone up.
She seemed to realize something, but before she could say anything, the person sitting next to her gave her a cool glance and said, "Are you sick?"
Duan Lin scoffed, "I wonder who's sick."
He wanted to drag Meng Henian into the fight, but then he thought that Meng was a second crazy person, so his outstretched arm was forced to turn around and he tugged at Ji Baishen. He didn't intend to get him to cooperate much, but unexpectedly, Ji Baishen was easy to talk to. "If you can't beat him, count me in."
Tan Zhaojing narrowed his eyes slightly, "Ji Baishen, I think you're just bored."
Ji Baishen smiled but didn't laugh. He walked over to the girl, bent down and took the pitted corn from her hand. Lin Zaoyi was confused again. "Mr. Ji, this is raw. You can't eat it."
Ji Boshen: "I have eyes."
Lin Zaoyi suddenly forgot her honorifics, "Then what are you doing?"
"I'll peel it for you."
Lin Zaoyi dared not trouble herself, "No need, I can do it myself."
He didn't give it to me, and instead said, "Just consider me as someone who's bored."
"......"
Ji Baishen ignored the girl's expression, sat down, and glanced at Tan Zhaojing indifferently, "Even if I'm free, I'm still better than you. I'm doing well on my blind dates, what are you doing here interfering?"
Tan You's gossipy nature was thus aroused, and he immediately asked, "Brother Bai Shen, don't tell me that your blind date is Zao Yi."
The other person seemed impatient and answered without pausing, "Yes, it's Zaoyi."
He added, "The first one."
Lin Zaoyi: "..."
The three onlookers were in an uproar. Meng Jinxi and Tan Jiani reacted the most intensely, one of them getting up to rush over, wanting to get a closer look at the gossip. Jiani succeeded, but Xixi didn't, being held back by Meng Henian. "What's all the fuss about!"
Meng Jinxi immediately feigned innocence, "I was wrong, I was wrong, I promise I'll be gentle."
Tan You walked over with small, quick steps. Despite his surprise, he remained composed, having experienced many big events before.
In just half a minute, Lin Zaoyi was surrounded. She felt immense pressure and was speechless. Then she heard President Duan's slightly incomprehensible hiss, "Ji Boshen, why do you sound like you're having regrets?"
Ji Baishen lowered his eyes slightly, his silhouette barely visible. He smiled absentmindedly, "If you say so, then so be it."
"No way!" Tan Jiani finally understood what was going on, and she had to emphasize, "Lin Zaoyi is my brother's!"
Ji Baishen peeled the corn until his nails ached, then tossed the remaining bits to Tan Zhaojing, saying, "You do it."
Tan Zhaojing didn't even take it, letting the corn roll off the cutting board and fall silently onto the lawn.
Ji Baishen naturally didn't care. He glanced at the guy who was obsessed with his brother and said, seemingly casually, "Maybe he was before, but not anymore, otherwise he wouldn't have gone on a blind date with me."
After saying that, he didn't forget to ask the girl for confirmation, "Right?"
Lin Zaoyi: "..."
