Chapter 131 Talking about the mother's reaction
Sun Yao was somewhat puzzled. He had expected his second aunt to have a strong reaction, but he hadn't expected it to be this strong. His face turned pale, his limbs trembled, and he was panting heavily.
Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration?
He called out softly, "Second Aunt?"
Tan's mother's eyes were filled with astonishment. "Are you...are you sure?"
Sun Yao was 100% certain, otherwise he wouldn't have been forcibly sent to Suzhou by his own father. However, he didn't intend to talk about his dark history, and instead said evasively, "I pursued Lin Zaoyi, but she didn't agree. Later I found out that she rejected me because of Brother Tan. I saw them hugging each other with my own eyes."
Tan's mother felt a rush of blood to her head and her mind was in turmoil. Her son had actually gotten together with that woman's daughter. This was utterly disgraceful to her!
He squeezed out a complete sentence from his throat, "Let's go back to the old house first."
Sun Yao: "?"
Why is the reaction so flat again?
"Second Aunt, you agree—"
"drive!"
Tan's mother had lost all patience and interrupted her before she could speak, "My head hurts, be quiet!"
That's the right reaction.
Sun Yao's lips curled into a triumphant smile.

When another car was sandwiched between the two, Tan Jiani got on the bus and started crying. She didn't know what she was upset about, but she just wanted to cry.
It just wouldn't stop.
Lin Zaoyi didn't try to comfort her. Sometimes, offering comfort would seem hypocritical. Besides, she was quite irritable right now. She wondered if Sun Yao would mention her to Tan Zhaojing's mother. He shouldn't be that shameless, right?
Tan Jiani glanced over with teary eyes, "Are you secretly laughing?"
Lin Zaoyi: "...No."
Speaking of Tan Jiani, she is quite pitiful. After two unintentional encounters before, plus today, she can be certain that Tan Jiani did not feel maternal love from her mother, and did not even receive basic favoritism.
In comparison, Lin Zaoyi suddenly realized that her mother was like an angel; no matter how wrong she was, her mother would never scold her in public.
He leaned forward, letting Tan Jiani see him up close. "Did you smile?"
"Get away!" The young lady proudly shoved her forehead away.
The tissues she had given her earlier were wet, so Lin Zaoyi pulled out a few more and stuffed them into her hand. "Are you still crying? If you are, I'll watch some cartoons."
The effect was good; the young lady stopped crying, "What if I don't cry?"
She laughed, "Then let's watch cartoons together."
Tan Jiani: "Childish."
She hastily wiped her eyes with a tissue. "Lin Zaoyi, you know what? I'm quite envious of you."
Without specifying which aspect, Lin Zaoyi already knew that this was the time to cut the pretense. "If you keep your mouth shut, I'll give you a little bit of my mom, just a little bit, no more."
Tan Jiani choked for a moment, then laughed again. She was speechless; she was speechless with herself, laughing and crying at the same time.
"Keep it for yourself, I still have Dad and my brother—"
Never mind, her brother isn't the same brother he used to be.
Lin Zaoyi blinked, "Why did you stop talking?"
Tan Jiani, her eyes red, glared at her and said, "Stop showing off."
The driver watched the two girls' interaction closely and couldn't help but sigh. Back in the summer, these two girls were like Zhang Fei threading a needle, staring at each other with wide eyes.

When the two arrived home, it was past dinnertime. Lin Zaoyi was too lazy to trouble the housekeeper, so she asked Tan Jiani, "I'll cook noodles, do you want some?"
Tan Jiani wanted to know, "How does it taste?"
Lin Zaoyi replied, "He ate it when he wasn't very familiar with your brother, and then he finished the whole bowl."
Not very familiar with it is the key word.
Tan Jiani took off her coat and threw it on the sofa, then leaned in, saying, "Let's try a bowl first."
Ten minutes later, Lin Zaoyi came out with a bowl of noodles. She didn't go to the dining room, but instead settled down on the coffee table in the living room.
Tan Jiani was engrossed in her game, and the smell of jealousy drew her attention away from the screen. She looked up but didn't see her share, and a resentful look crept in. "What about mine? Didn't you say you'd cook it for me too?" she said.
Lin Zaoyi glanced at her and said, "Go get it yourself. Do you really treat me like a servant?"
Tan Jiani frankly said, "I'm just used to being waited on hand and foot."
Lin Zaoyi doesn't like to respond to conversations.
Tan Jiani went to the kitchen, and just looking at it made her lose her appetite. When she tasted it, the taste was really not good. But she was hungry, so she reluctantly gave it a try.
Following Lin Zaoyi's example, she carried it to the coffee table.
He slurped a mouthful and asked, "Are you sure you weren't already familiar with my brother when you made him noodles?"
Lin Zaoyi understood the implication. She thought for a moment and said, "We're really not familiar with each other. It must have been the day after your brother returned to China."
"Are you sure?" Tan Jiani found it strange. "Putting aside my brother's picky eating habits, he would never bother someone he doesn't know well, just when it comes to cooking noodles."
He paused here, "Unless..."
Lin Zaoyi's heart skipped a beat when she was asked the question. The noodles she was holding with her chopsticks, which she hadn't eaten in time, suddenly bounced into the bowl, splashing a few drops of soup. Instantly, a brown stain appeared on her white cardigan.
She ignored it, her attention was entirely on Tan Jiani's guesses, partly because she felt guilty and partly because she was worried that Tan Jiani had made some connections, after all, they had just met Sun Yao an hour ago.
He unconsciously slowed his breathing, "Unless something..."
Tan Jiani narrowed her eyes. "My brother fell in love with you at first sight."
A tone of affirmation.
Lin Zaoyi's heart, which had been pounding, calmed down without her noticing. It wasn't that she was afraid; she just didn't want her dark memories to be reopened. Although Tan Zhaojing was involved, the real culprit was that beast Sun Yao.
Tan Jiani's voice came through, "What did Sun Yao do to you that he failed to do?"
Lin Zaoyi: "..."
Just what I feared most came to pass.
She appeared calm on the surface, yet genuinely expressed her disgust: "He pursued me with underhanded tactics. Let's not talk about him; it's ruining my appetite."
It definitely had an impact, so Tan Jiani stopped the conversation there. Despite the unpalatable bowl of noodles, she finished it all in the end.
A car drove into the courtyard. Lin Zaoyi stood up and tiptoed. It was her mother and the others returning. She took the dishes and chopsticks to the kitchen, washed them, and put them in the sterilizer.
When she came out again, Tan Zhaojing was nowhere to be seen in the living room. Lin Zaoyi moved to the window and saw that tall figure standing under the pavilion. He had one hand in his pocket and the other holding a phone. His profile was cold and sharp.
It should be a work phone number.
The call was made by Tan's mother. Before her son could give her a definite answer, her tone remained relatively calm. "Are you with that woman's daughter?"
The answer I received was: "Where did you learn that?"
The fact that they didn't answer but instead asked a question is itself the answer.
Unable to control his emotions any longer, his voice suddenly rose, "Tan Zhaojing, I think you've gone mad!"
"I'm not crazy." Tan Zhaojing's voice was cool and indifferent. "Is there anything else?"
His tone was flat, but every word he spoke pierced the heart.
Tan's mother's eyes were bloodshot with anger. "Is this your attitude?"
She sharply questioned, "Tan Zhaojing, of all people you could like, why did it have to be that woman's daughter? You're slapping me in the face! Break up with me, break up with me right now!"
Tan Zhaojing uttered three words indifferently, "Impossible."
Mother: "What do you mean by 'impossible'???"
His chest heaved with emotion as he cried out, "Tan Zhaojing, don't forget, you came from my belly!"
