Chapter 152 confirms I'm the one who needs to be in charge of the location.
The next day, as soon as Lin Zaoyi arrived at work, she received an assignment from her editor-in-chief to contact Zhong Sheng Group and obtain an exclusive interview as soon as possible.
It's fair to say that most people have lost hope, for a simple reason: the controlling shareholder behind the scenes hasn't been identified yet, so how can it be an exclusive deal?
Lin Zaoyi contacted the public relations manager of Zhong Sheng with a try-it-out mentality. To her surprise, the manager agreed and asked them to come over in the afternoon.
The other colleagues were furious, since they had already made plans with him many times before!
A colleague chuckled in exasperation, "Does the other person have X-ray vision and know that Zao Yi is pretty?"
Joking back, Lin Zaoyi smiled and said, "The person who contacted me was a very gentle-spoken young lady."
Shortly after, the editor-in-chief handed over a document, saying, "This is information about Zhongcheng Group."
Lin Zaoyi accepted the offer. Guan Zhongsheng Group had already been paying attention to the company overseas. The behind-the-scenes controlling shareholder had never been publicly disclosed, and the vice president attended various business activities.
I had considered whether it might be Tan Zhaojing, but I quickly dismissed the idea. It was too fast; how can a company just go public like that?
At 3 p.m., Lin Zaoyi called Xu Yang, 20 minutes earlier than the appointment time. The receptionist seemed unaware of this. When she heard that she had arranged an interview with the boss, she paused for half a second, and then politely asked, "What is your surname?"
"Lin, Lin Zaoyi, a reporter from CCTV."
The receptionist dialed Assistant Shao's number, "There's a reporter here, surnamed Lin, who wants to interview you—"
Before the second half of his sentence could be finished, Assistant Shao said, "Please invite her up."
It's a request, not a shout.
The receptionist couldn't help but take another look at the reporter. Her features were impeccable, and her temperament was a refined elegance that money couldn't buy. She was indeed beautiful, but the boss wasn't such a superficial person.
Just assume that President Tan suddenly wanted to be high-profile.
He led the two reporters to the elevator and pressed the button for the floor where the boss was located.
Half a minute later, the elevator stopped on the 33rd floor. As soon as I stepped out, a secretary greeted me.
She smiled and led the way, "Please follow me."
Xu Yang couldn't help but mutter, "Is the boss of Zhong Sheng really this approachable?"
Lin Zaoyi also expressed surprise, her attitude so good that she suspected she had fallen into a pyramid scheme.
As the office door opened and the view swept across the room, my breath hitched. The style of the decor... seemed to match his.
There was no one at the desk, so she shifted her gaze and then fixed it on the floor-to-ceiling window, unable to look away. There was only a back view, but it was this tall and straight back that made her heart race.
The carpet beneath her feet became soft, and she felt as if she were stepping into thin air. Her body swayed uncontrollably, and Xu Yang noticed something was wrong and quickly reached out to support her.
In the two years they'd known each other, he'd seen Zao Yi lost in thought many times, but he'd never seen her so flustered. "You know her?"
Tan Zhaojing turned around and glanced at the five fingers resting on the slender arm. Just that one glance made Xu Yang's skin crawl. What was going on?
Lin Zaoyi only allowed herself to lose her composure for a few seconds. She brushed aside Xu Yang's support and tried to appear natural. "Hello, Mr. Tan, we are reporters from CCTV."
Then, he said his name.
Their tone was so formal, it sounded like they were meeting for the first time.
Tan Zhaojing glanced at her with a very faint expression, "Sit down."
The three of them sat down on the sofa in the lounge area.
The two had already prepared the interview transcripts. Lin Zaoyi handed the script to Xu Yang, who took over the task if he had any questions.
Before posing the first question, let's exchange a couple of polite words to ease the tension. I paused before I could finish my sentence, wondering what the other person's last name was again.
Oh right, Zaoyi seemed to have called out "President Tan" to him.
He cleared his throat. "Mr. Tan, thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to agree to this interview."
The other person glanced at him blankly, "I did agree to her."
As he spoke, he pointed at Zao Yi with his finger.
Xu Yang: "..."
Lin Zaoyi: "..."
She had to explain, "Mr. Tan, I didn't try to curry favor when I contacted your public relations department."
Tan Zhaojing looked over, his eyes cold and tinged with an indescribable meaning, like a accusation mixed with self-mockery. Then, he asked, "What is our relationship?"
Lin Zaoyi was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, "Whatever relationship you say it is, it is."
He asked, "Are you sure you want me to locate it?"
The atmosphere was like a fire that quickly spread around them. Xu Yang was close by and inevitably got caught up in it, but this wave of fire didn't startle him. Even the slow-witted Xu Yang could tell that the two had a past.
He was wondering whether he should leave or stay.
She quietly tugged at Zao Yi's clothes, but there was no reaction.
Lin Zaoyi's attention was entirely on that man. She suddenly couldn't understand him anymore; he had been so cold to her a few days ago that it made her shudder.
Right now
Not only did they give me an exclusive interview, but they also said some inexplicable things.
She forced a smile again. "You're joking. Shall we begin?"
Regardless of whether Tan Zhaojing nodded or not, he glanced at Xu Yang sitting next to him and gestured for him to take the lead.
Xu Yang's scalp tingled inexplicably. Sister, you really know how to cause me trouble.
He turned on the recorder and was about to ask his first question when the other party's cold voice came through: "I'm agreeing to your request, not his."
As he said this, his eyes were fixed straight on Zaoyi.
Xu Yang: ""
Should I just disappear?
Lin Zaoyi's already stiff back became even stiffer, but fortunately, she had become accustomed to big occasions in the past two years and managed to remain calm.
As she picked up the interview transcript again, she glanced down and inadvertently noticed the cufflinks on his sleeve. A long, long time ago, she had bought the exact same ones.
Perhaps sensing her gaze, he placed his fingertip on it, slowly removed it, and handed it to her, saying, "You can see it more clearly if you look closer."
"……Need not."
His arm was still outstretched in mid-air. Seeing this, she could only raise her arm and gently push his hand back. When she touched it, his skin was warm. For some reason, she felt a little helpless. Her fingertips unconsciously curled the edges of the document pages. In just a few strokes, the paper was crumpled and showed signs of tearing.
She's so pathetic. She doesn't need anyone else; she wants to hit herself with a hammer.
In an effort to salvage her reputation, Lin Zaoyi went to great lengths to appear professional in the following interviews, and fortunately, Tan Zhaojing was very cooperative.
It took longer than expected, almost an hour.
After the interview, Lin Zaoyi stood up to thank him, but the man said, "I was just keeping my word."
In a single sentence, the past is brought back to two years ago.
Lin Zaoyi still clearly remembers him saying: "With me, you can ask for more."
Her heart felt like it was being kneaded by an invisible hand, a bitter and salty mass. She let out a silent breath and smiled fairly brightly, "Then, Mr. Tan, you're busy."
Tan Zhaojing hummed in response, his voice so soft that he could hear it himself. He glanced around and looked at the bewildered young man standing to the side.
The hothead Xu Yang wasn't slow to react. The big boss treated him as a hypothetical love rival, which was very unfair. The only thing between him and Lin Zaoyi was that he had to change his personality. He looked at the troublemaker with a hint of resentment.
The troublemaker looked back at him, "What?"
Noticing a sharp gaze fixed on him, Xu Yang kept quiet for the time being, deciding to question her properly once they were out of the office. He pushed her aside and said, "I'll take care of it."
Lin Zaoyi wanted to suggest that the two of them could clean up faster, but with that person around, she felt suffocated and her heart was pounding. Just as she was about to reach out to help, a cold, emotionless voice rolled in from the air: "Did I leave a shirt with you?"
