Qiao Zhen dared not.
She was Lu Zheng's caged bird, and everything was under his control.
"My mother's health isn't good; even the slightest shock will hurt her!" Tears welled up instantly, quickly wetting her cheeks. Qiao Zhen had no choice but to plead, "If you want to do anything, do it to me. Don't bother my mother anymore!"
In the dim woods, the tears were particularly glaring.
Lu Zheng's gaze darkened slightly, and he tightened his grip, holding Qiao Zhen firmly in his arms.
As long as she remembers her forgotten past and obediently stays with him, he will spoil her and make her the happiest woman in the world.
But she has a heart that can never be warmed.
He helped her by buying the Heart of Eternity and taking care of Qiao's mother, but it was all in vain.
What a heartless woman.
"Did I disturb your mother or hurt her?" Lu Zheng asked fiercely, his eyes red.
Qiao Zhen was stunned.
Looking back, there really wasn't.
However, Lu Zheng's expression and tone suggested that he would follow up with, "If you dare to disobey me, things will be different."
She waited a moment, but Lu Zheng didn't say anything. He cupped her face in his hands, bit her soft lips, and took the opportunity to penetrate her as she cried out in pain.
The more she tried to hide, the more frantically he took her.
At first, Qiao Zhen could still punch and push Lu Zheng's shoulders, but gradually, she lost herself in the man's dominance.
They were so reluctant to part that they almost felt suffocated before Lu Zheng finally released her. He traced her red lips with his fingertips and asked in a deep voice, "Stay by my side, understand?"
"I understand." Qiao Zhen nodded vigorously.
Lu Zheng then lowered his hand and took a half step back.
Qiao Zhen bent over in discomfort, pressing her chest and gasping for breath.
The breath brushed against my lips, sending waves of stinging pain through me.
Mad dog!
She had barely caught her breath when Lu Zheng grabbed her hand and pulled her back onto the road.
As dusk fell and the streetlights came on, their shadows overlapped on the ground, making them look like an ordinary young couple.
A dozen minutes later, they arrived at the foot of the mountain.
There's a farmhouse restaurant here, brightly decorated, playing lively songs that are a favorite for square dancing. Several tables of guests are barbecuing and drinking in the courtyard, creating a happy and harmonious atmosphere.
As soon as they entered, the owner greeted them warmly.
Lu Zheng asked, "What would you like to eat?"
Qiao Zhen had no appetite. "Whatever."
Lu Zheng told her to wait in the courtyard while he and the boss went to the bar to order.
Upon seeing Lu Zheng's attire and demeanor, the owner knew he was either rich or noble, and enthusiastically introduced his restaurant's signature dishes.
"I want something light." Lu Zheng frowned as he looked at the menu, which was stained with yellow, greasy substances. After hesitating for a moment, he stretched out a finger, lifted a corner of the menu, and flipped through the pages with some difficulty, ordering a few dishes. "Takeout."
"Okay, okay." The boss could tell he was a picky and difficult customer, so he was eager to pack him up and leave, knowing he wouldn't come back if he complained about this or that.
"Oh, by the way," Lu Zheng called out to the owner, who was heading to the kitchen, "Do you have any guest rooms here?"
The owner was startled. "The weather is warm now, it's peak tourist season, and all our rooms have been booked well in advance."
"Not even one?" Lu Zheng frowned in thought.
While tidying up in the afternoon, he saw a folding bed in the corner.
Qiao Zhen definitely planned to stay at the sanatorium for a couple more days to keep her mother company.
This is a remote suburb, and it takes at least two and a half hours to drive back to the city, which is very inconvenient.
The owner shrugged helplessly, "Actually, there's one room left, but it's next to the sheep pen, and it's leaking and under repair..."
Lu Zheng said, "This is the one."
"Huh?!" the shop owner emphasized, "The smell isn't very pleasant, and it's damp with lots of mosquitoes. Can you really stand it?"
"Mm." Lu Zheng nodded.
The boss was still worried, "You promise you won't cause trouble, you won't complain..."
Before he could finish speaking, a stack of beautiful red banknotes appeared in front of the boss.
"Is that enough for food and two nights' accommodation?"
The boss nodded hurriedly, "Enough, enough, enough."
If you pay first, everything will be fine.
As Lu Zheng stepped out of the small house, he saw a man chatting with Qiao Zhen.
Judging by the man's physique, he's definitely spent a lot of time in the gym.
Qiao Zhen looked wary and took a half step back, but the man enthusiastically tried to stuff the lamb skewers in his hand into her hands.
"Little girl, you're here to play too? Let's be friends! There are lots of good things in this river, let's go fishing together tomorrow..."
Oil dripped from the lamb skewers, and Qiao Zhen, afraid of getting her clothes dirty, stepped back, politely declining, "No need!"
Even though he was right next to her, she showed no intention of asking him for help. Lu Zheng's gaze darkened, and he strode forward, put his arm around Qiao Zhen's shoulder, and pulled her into his arms.
"She has a boyfriend, she doesn't need one."
The man was taken aback and realized that the person who suddenly appeared was tall and slender. Even though the suit covered his body completely, the man, who had been in the gym for many years, could tell at a glance that this person's physique was extraordinary.
That's not the scariest part; what's even more terrifying is his sinister gaze.
Never mess with them!
He chuckled awkwardly and stepped back onto the stool, saying, "Sorry to bother you."
Lu Zheng led Qiao Zhen back to the brightest bar area and asked, "Why didn't you come to me when someone was bothering you?"
Qiao Zhen replied dismissively, "I thought if I just talked about it, he would know better and leave."
Lu Zheng sneered, "With me around, you'd better learn to make good use of me, or you'll suffer the consequences."
"..." Qiao Zhen stared at the ceiling speechlessly. Who would dare to order him around? He would never be able to repay the debt of gratitude he owed in his lifetime!
After waiting a while, the boss returned excitedly with the packed food and handed it to Lu Zheng. Qiao Zhen wanted to take a bag, but Lu Zheng blocked her with his arm.
The shopkeeper rubbed his hands together and asked, "Sir, would you like me to take you there now..."
"We'll talk about it later," Lu Zheng coldly refused, and left the farmhouse with Qiao Zhen.
The boss's words piqued Qiao Zhen's curiosity. "What is the boss going to do with you?"
“I think their lamb looks very fresh, and I’d like to take some home,” Lu Zheng said casually, without batting an eye.
Qiao Zhen understood that he meant he would return to the city tonight, and her anxiety finally eased a little.
Back in the ward, Lu Zheng laid out the food on a small, long table that had been pushed together, and invited everyone to eat. The other two patients praised Lu Zheng highly.
"I say you are truly blessed, so enjoy the filial piety of your daughter and son-in-law!"
"When your son grows up and gets married, you'll have a son and a daughter-in-law. I'll be so envious."
Qiao's mother looked at Qiao Zhen and Lu Zheng with a look of satisfaction.
Qiao Zhen silently rubbed her temples, fearing that in her mother's eyes, the two of them had already gotten their marriage certificate.
Everything went as Lu Zheng wished. His attentive behavior in front of his mother won her favor.
If we rashly say, "We've already broken up," Mom will definitely feel sad and worried, blaming herself for breaking up with them because of her health, thinking they were a burden.
For now, they can only let Lu Zheng try to make his presence known to his mother.
On the bright side, Lu Zheng's efforts to make his mother happy are good for her health.
Once Mom recovers, she can leave without any worries, taking her family far away and completely escaping all the nightmares here!
