Chapter 3 Parting
Gu Jue looked at Yu Chi and didn't ask any more questions. Yu Chi didn't say anything either. They were silent all the way to the post station.
Yu Chi really didn't understand what his name meant, and he couldn't get an answer because the person who gave him this name was no longer there.
They rented two carriages. Yu Chi rented them for a month and took Gu Jue back in the carriage.
Sitting with Yu Chi, Gu Jue smelled the pleasant light and cold fragrance on the man's body when he went to kidnap the bride. It smelled very good.
When they arrived, Yu Ajie and Ye Ziluo were already waiting at the entrance of the village with their people. They didn't have much stuff, just three small bags.
There were exactly three people in one carriage. Ye Ziluo got into the carriage with Yu Chi and Gu Jue and left overnight.
When Sister Yu left, she opened the curtains by the window. She looked at the place where she grew up and was about to leave. She didn't know if she would have the chance to come back. She couldn't help feeling a little disappointed.
The carriage went farther and farther until she could no longer see the entrance to the village. Sister Yu then lowered the curtains. Ye Xiaoyuan threw herself into her mother's arms and held Sister Yu's hand. Her big eyes were a little confused. She hadn't reacted to the fact that her brother had called her up and packed up her things to leave overnight.
The carriage was moving fast. When the sky was turning pale, they had already walked a long distance.
They traveled together for several days, and finally Yu Chi took Gu Jue and said goodbye to them at the city gate.
It was far from home, so far that Sister Yu didn't even know the way back without asking for directions.
Ye Ziluo and his family settled down in Liyun City with Sister Yu. Yu Chi told them that they had rented the carriage for a month, and they would leave it to them in case they needed it.
Sister Yu always looked very calm, except that she was a little shocked when she saw Ye Ziluo that night.
Yu Chi took out a bag of silver and handed it to Sister Yu.
"Since you and Mr. Ye are childhood sweethearts and love each other, it will probably be a while before you get together. I wonder if Gu Jue and I can make it back in time to meet you. I'll give you this gift first."
Sister Yu was stunned and looked at Ye Ziluo. Ye Ziluo didn't know how to react. When they came back to their senses, Yu Chi had already walked a distance with Gu Jue. Gu
Jue turned around and waved to Sister Yu. Sister Yu's eyes were red. It was unclear whether she was embarrassed by what Yu Chi said just now, or because she was sad about parting with her brother.
Ye Ziluo and the others stood beside Sister Yu, and looked at the people who were gradually walking away with her.
Gu Jue seemed to have seen it, and seemed to know his sister's character.
He smiled and shouted over here, "Sister! Stop crying and smile!"
Yu Chi found his look a little funny and raised his hand to pat his head, causing Gu Jue to turn around and say something to him, but Sister Yu and the others couldn't hear clearly.
Until the backs of the two people disappeared completely from their sight with the setting sun, Sister Yu rubbed her watery eyes.
Maybe they should have their own future.
Gu Jue has grown up and is no longer the naughty boy who can only climb trees and dig bird nests.
And I should have my own new life.
They entered the city with light luggage, except for the heavy bag of gift money given by Yu Chi in Sister Yu's hand.
In fact, she knew that she and Gu Jue were penniless. Although they could make some money from embroidery, Ye Ziluo also had to support his mother and sister at home. If she followed him, she would be a nuisance.
The bag of silver was handed to her to give her confidence, so that she would not be a burden.
As for Yu Chi, he took Gu Jue in another direction and entered a dense forest. They did not get out until dark. There was no other way, so they found a stream, and Gu Jue picked up dead branches to make a fire.
Yu Chi put on a cloak, leaned against a big tree with his eyes closed, and Gu Jue was stunned by his behavior.
He was dressed like a decent person, why didn't he care about anything?
He picked up a branch and poked Yu Chi, which in turn made him look cold. The red eyes were cold when they looked over, but they softened after seeing Gu Jue's face.
He asked him, "What's wrong?"
Gu Jue covered his stomach and said with a smug look, "I'm hungry. Don't you want to eat?"
His voice was a little vague. Yu Chi saw that the boy was a little embarrassed, and finally spread his hands to show Gu Jue, indicating that he had no food.
Then, as if he remembered something, he took out a folding fan inlaid with gold and jade from his waist and handed it over.
"Why don't you chew it to relieve your hunger?"
Gu Jue rolled his eyes, which made Yu Chi laugh.
"There's no other way. If you follow me for three days, you'll have to go hungry. You have to be prepared."
Gu Jue stood up immediately after hearing this, walked to the stream, took off his shoes, rolled up his trousers and went into the water.
The water was very cool. Gu Jue slowed down a little, then took a branch and started to catch fish in the moonlight.
Yu Chi was sitting by the campfire, watching him. His eyes swept over the sword that Gu Jue had thrown here. I don't know what he was thinking.
Over there, Gu Jue spotted a fat and big silver carp and went down with a branch.
Quick, accurate and ruthless!
"Hey, why don't you use your sword?"
The fish ran away.
Gu Jue pursed his lips. He was about to catch it with a fork, but was scared away by Yu Chi's shout.
He turned his head and saw the man sitting by the campfire smiling at him. As the saying goes, don't hit a smiling person. Gu Jue endured it and replied casually.
"No way."
Yu Chi didn't say anything else. Not long after, Gu Jue came back with three fish that he had already prepared.
They stared at the grilled fish in silence. There was only the "crackling" sound of the campfire and the chirping of some insects in the forest.
When the grilled fish was ready, Gu Jue was about to eat it when Yu Chi stretched out his hand to him. He didn't understand why, so Yu Chi pointed at the grilled fish and hooked his finger.
"You don't want to eat?"
"When did I say I don't want to eat?"
He seemed to have never said that. Gu Jue turned his body to the side and said, "If you don't want to eat, go grab it yourself."
"Ajue, you are my bodyguard now. You have to take care of me and protect me. Do you understand?"
Gu Jue shuddered when Yu Chi called him. No one except his family and Brother Ye had ever called him Ah Jue. Why did it sound so awkward when this person called him that?
He passed the grilled fish to him and took another one himself. He took a bite. It was not bad, but it didn't taste good.
"I'm your bodyguard. Will you pay me a monthly salary?"
Yu Chi looked at him deeply, with an expression that said this was not natural. Gu Jue moved closer to Yu Chi.
"How much a month?"
Yu Chi stretched out his hand and made a two sign. He didn't speak because he hadn't finished his food yet.
Gu Jue thought that the fan that Yu Chi had just handed over to him would be worth a lot of money if he sold it. This man must not be short of money. Could it be that he was going to give him twenty taels a month?
Wouldn't that be a huge profit?
Yu Chi lowered his eyes and looked at the person next to him. His originally clear eyes were almost turning into starry eyes. He didn't know what was in his mind.
He licked his lips after swallowing the food in his mouth, and spoke to pull Gu Jue back to his wild thoughts.
"I'll give you two hundred coins a month."
"How much!?"
Gu Jue looked at Yu Chi. Did he hear wrongly?
"I'll give you two hundred coins a month~"
Then Yu Chi saw Gu Jue suddenly stand up from his side, with an angry look, pointing at him with the branch that forked the grilled fish, his hands shaking with anger.
He took the opportunity to bite the fish.
Well, it seems to be fatter than his own, a little sloppy, and early.
Gu Jue got even angrier.
"Yu Chi! Even the donkey pulling the millstone doesn't deserve to be squeezed like this by you!!" The
kidnapped little guard was furious, and Yu Chi saw that his eyes were red with anger, so he began to give in.
"Shall I give you a little more?"
Gu Jue calmed down and asked, "How much?"
Yu Chi thought for a while and said, "Add a zero?"
Add a zero, which means two taels of silver a month, which is not bad, just barely.
Gu Jue sat down again. Seeing that he had calmed down, Yu Chi silently suppressed the words "200 Wen a year" that he was about to blurt out.
