Chapter 29 Different

The earthen kang in the countryside was a completely new experience for Lu Lingxi.

He sat on the kang and kicked curiously. The gray bricks were tightly packed and there was no sound when he kicked them. Dahei was curled up at the head of the kang like he was at home, just separating him and Yan Yue on the left and right.

"Can we really make a fire down here?" Lu Lingxi took off his shoes, got on the kang, patted the hard edge of the kang, and asked Yan Yue curiously through the black bed.

It was also the first time for Yan Yue to sleep on a kang. He smiled slightly and said, "We can try it when the weather gets colder, and then we'll know if it works."

Lu Lingxi didn't hear the hidden meaning of this sentence, and agreed with sparkling eyes. He was really tired today, and fell asleep soon after turning off the lights. The night in the suburbs was very quiet, without the friction of passing vehicles on the road, nor the noise of roadside food stalls, only the occasional accompaniment of insects, accompanied by the clear moonlight spreading in the house, weaving a peaceful dream.

Yan Yue thought he would not be able to sleep, but he unexpectedly slept through the sound of insects until dawn. He had no insomnia and no nightmares. The whole night seemed to be surrounded by the fragrance of plants and trees, so much so that he even ignored Dahei's snoring.

Yan Yue woke up at around six o'clock. He was used to insomnia in the past, and he was self-disciplined, so he seldom slept past six. When he opened his eyes, Yan Yue was in a trance for a moment. The surroundings were completely unfamiliar, but unexpectedly, he felt at ease. As soon as there was movement on his side, Dahei opened his eyes and stood up to look over. Yan Yue sat up and looked at the squatting Dahei for a long time. In a good mood, he stretched out his hand and scratched Dahei's chin like Lu Lingxi did, and laughed softly: "Don't make noise, be careful not to wake up Xiaoxi."

I don’t know if Dahei understood what I said, but he curled up back on the kang again.

Across the dark night, Lu Lingxi was sleeping soundly. The boy's sleeping face was pure and peaceful, and his skin was white and almost transparent. The faint morning light shone through the window onto the boy's face, as if it was stained with a layer of golden halo, which made people unable to have a blasphemous thought. The two of them stayed overnight too hastily, and did not bring any change of clothes. When they went to bed at night, Lu Lingxi only took off his outer shorts and slept with a T-shirt as pajamas. After a night, the T-shirt had been rolled up to his chest, revealing his white and tender belly, which rose and fell gently with his breathing.

Yan Yue's eyes slowly became filled with smiles, and his sight circled around Lu Lingxi's round belly button, and then looked all the way down. Beyond the underwear printed with the big yellow duck, the boy's long legs were exposed, and the bed sheet that was originally covering him had long been kicked under his feet.

The desire to get close to the boy and touch him was clamoring wildly. Yan Yue leaned over with a dim look in his eyes and gently pulled out the bed sheet to cover the boy's body, also covering the exposed part of the boy.

Although Lu Lingxi is not as tall as him, the proportions are just right. Yan Yue is 186cm tall, and Lu Lingxi is half a head shorter than him, so he should be around 178cm tall. However, Lu Lingxi is only 18, so he should continue to grow taller.

Yan Yue was thinking of all kinds of thoughts to distract himself from his desire to get close to the boy, while he quickly put on his clothes, opened the door and walked out. He remembered that Lu Lingxi said last night that the repotted plants had to be watered again this morning. In order to prevent the boy from being too tired and to find something to distract himself, Yan Yue simply washed up, found the plastic pot in the flowerbed and started watering.

When Grandpa Li came to call the two to eat, he saw Yan Yue bending over and inserting a bamboo stick into the flowerpot to see if the soil underneath was completely wet. The old man laughed and thought Yan Yue was quite smart. Although he didn't know much about how to take care of these flowers and plants, he knew how to find a way and could come up with a solution. But this method was a bit stupid, unlike Xiaoxi, who only needed to take a glance to know if the water was enough.

But it was no wonder. Yan Yue didn't look like someone who would do these things. He looked like the kind of white-collar workers he saw on TV. The old man walked over with a smile, "Where's Xiaoxi?"

Yan Yue turned around and saw Uncle Li greeting him politely, "Xiao Xi is still sleeping."

Uncle Li looked distressed. "Oh, but you were exhausted yesterday. Let the little kid sleep for a while. I'll heat up the food for you. Remember to come and eat later."

Yan Yue was about to nod his head in agreement when Lu Lingxi rubbed his eyes and walked out. "Brother Yan?"

"Awake?" Yan Yue put down the kettle and walked over.

Lu Lingxi finally woke up after leaving the house. Seeing Uncle Li, he smiled shyly, "You're here?"

Uncle Li liked Lu Lingxi. The little baby was fair and tender and looked very cute. "Go wash your face quickly. We cooked porridge and steamed sweet potatoes at home. They won't taste good if they get cold."

"Yeah." Lu Lingxi curled his eyes. He was too tired from working last night and was really hungry now, so he didn't bother to be polite.

Uncle Li's breakfast was delicious. Thick white porridge paired with refreshing and delicious side dishes, green as if they were about to burst with water, and looked appetizing. There were also steamed soft sweet potatoes, which had a sweet aroma as soon as they were taken out of the pot. Lu Lingxi had never seen sweet potatoes steamed directly like this before. He had eaten sweet potatoes when he was at Lu's house, but they were processed sweet potato cakes that had lost the original flavor of sweet potatoes.

Uncle Li broke off half of the sweet potato and handed it to Lu Lingxi. The sweet potato was still a little hot right out of the pot, and the sweet smell was so strong that he could smell it up close. Lu Lingxi blew on the sweet potato twice, wanting to eat it but afraid of the heat. His embarrassment caught Yan Yue's eyes, and Yan Yue was both amused and helpless. He didn't say anything and just watched Lu Lingxi worrying alone.

Uncle Li was very happy to see that Lu Lingxi liked to eat sweet potatoes, so he immediately asked his family to pack some sweet potatoes for Lu Lingxi to take home. All the sweet potatoes in their family were grown by themselves, without any pesticides, absolutely natural. When Lu Lingxi heard that they grew sweet potatoes by themselves, he was moved. He also wanted to grow some sweet potatoes in the backyard, but it was too late this year, so he could only wait until next year.

After dinner, the two returned to the courtyard to pack up and prepare to return to the city. Lu Lingxi scanned and found that all the green plants that had been repotted had been watered, and they were all watered appropriately. There was no situation where the soil was dry just after being wetted, nor was there a situation where too much water was dripping everywhere.

He looked at Yan Yue in surprise. Yan Yue didn't understand what he meant, "What's wrong?"

Lu Lingxi raised the corners of his mouth and praised vigorously: "Brother Yan, you are really amazing. You watered these potted plants just right."

This was the second time Lu Lingxi had praised him. Yan Yue didn't know whether to laugh or cry. It seemed that he really had a talent for tending to these flowers and plants. However, Yan Yue curled his lips and looked at Lu Lingxi, "Xiaoxi is even better. He can tell the watering situation with just one look."

He originally just wanted to praise Lu Lingxi, but he didn't expect that this sentence would hit Lu Lingxi's guilty conscience. Lu Lingxi secretly glanced at Yan Yue, and only felt relieved when he was sure that Yan Yue didn't have any strange expression on his face.

There was a little traffic on the way back, just in time for the morning rush hour. Lu Lingxi had always been raised at home before, and although he now had a job, this was the first time he had to face the early morning rush hour crowd. The two of them were stuck on the highway into the city, with cars in front and behind. Yan Yue comforted him, "There's a toll booth ahead, it will be better after passing the toll booth."

Lu Lingxi nodded. He was not in a hurry. After all, he was now one of the small bosses of Micro Gardening, and the person sitting next to him was his partner. Yan Yue would never accuse him of being lazy and not working.

When he said this, Wan Yan Yue couldn't help laughing.

When Lu Lingxi first met Yan Yue, Yan Yue rarely smiled. He thought Yan Yue was cold because he always saw Yan Yue with a blank expression. But now that the two are familiar with each other, Lu Lingxi found that Yan Yue can actually smile, not the kind of smile that curls up the corners of the mouth but does not show any smile in the eyes, but a real smile.

"Brother Yan, you should smile more often, so that you will be in a good mood every day." Lu Lingxi said seriously.

Yan Yue looked at him with a smile and nodded.

The car in front began to move slowly, and just as Yan Yue was about to catch up, the traffic stopped again. If it were any other time, Yan Yue would have been in a bad mood, but because Lu Lingxi was sitting next to him, it seemed that even the traffic jam had become something he could tolerate and even enjoy.

As they were talking, Yan Yue's phone rang. The caller was An Jie. Yan Yue glanced at Lu Lingxi and picked up the phone.

"Hey, what's up?"

An Jie's tone was a little heavy, and there was a hint of grievance for Yan Yue. "There's news from the headquarters that the chairman seems to be interested in sending Yan Hai abroad."

The name Yan Hai made Yan Yue's eyes dim. Less than half a month ago, Professor Susan's office was robbed. Then, just as Yan Yue expected, a rumor spread in Zhongjing's company headquarters that he had actually been seeing a doctor abroad for so many years, and even refused to return to China after graduation because his illness was not cured. According to rumors, he went to see a psychiatrist and became a psychiatrist, and everyone seemed to be sure that he was a mental patient.

Yan Yue did not come out to explain the matter, as if he knew nothing. Soon, Yan Shihui called him back to Zhongjing. Both father and son actually knew what was going on. But in Yan Shihui's eyes, whether it was mental illness or psychological illness, Yan Yue really had problems. He tactfully told Yan Yue not to have too much pressure, and that physical health was more important. Yan Yue understood Yan Shihui's hint, and tactfully gave up his position overseas, and took a week to hand over the specific work matters. This is also the reason why he has been busy recently and has not appeared in front of Lu Lingxi.

Yan Yue's concession was only the first step, and he was waiting for his father's subsequent reaction. For Hepu Group, the overseas market was very important, and Yan Shihui would definitely put someone he trusted, and this person could show his true attitude towards Yan Yue.

Yan Hai!

A hint of mockery flashed across Yan Yue's lips, and his voice was cold, "Since the board of directors has made the decision, let him go. You hand over the things over there and return home as soon as possible."

An Jie agreed, "What about the negotiations with NT Group?"

Yan Yue said casually: "Stop the negotiations. Contact NT again in the name of Dezhi Investment. Send me the relevant information and I will give them a call."

"good!"

The cooperation with NT is the major overseas project of Hepu Group this year. Yan Yue started to contact the other party two years ago, and the two sides have been talking on and off for nearly two years. Some time ago, it seemed that there would be a breakthrough, but Yin Qinglan made a fuss about Yan Yue returning to China, and Yan Yue handed the follow-up to An Jie. An Jie had advised Yan Yue before to contact NT in the name of Dezhi Investment and win the project. After considering it, Yan Yue rejected An Jie's proposal. He didn't think about returning to China at that time. It didn't make any difference to him whether Hepu or Dezhi won the project. But now everything is going to be different.

The two talked for a few more words before Yan Yue hung up the phone. After hanging up the phone, he realized that Lu Lingxi was right next to him. Yan Yue felt a little regretful, but more annoyed. He was not on guard against Lu Lingxi, and he made no secret of his calculations towards He Pu on the phone. I wonder what Lu Lingxi would think of him after hearing all this? The boy was innocent and had just entered society without any exposure to these things. Would he think that he was a bad guy? Coupled with the mess in his family, Yan Yue became a little uneasy and turned to look at Lu Lingxi.

Lu Lingxi looked a little surprised, but also a little understanding. Yan Yue wanted to explain, but didn't know how to start.

Lu Lingxi smiled shyly, then looked outside through the car window.

He didn't mean to listen to Yan Yue's phone call, but it was hard not to hear them when they were sitting together. He had never asked about Yan Yue's identity before, because he had already decided that Yan Yue was a good person because of Dahei. As for Yan Yue's identity and background, it was not important in his eyes. After spending some time together, he thought Yan Yue was just the way he saw her. But this phone call made him realize that the Yan Yue he saw was gentle and liked small animals and flowers and plants, but only one side of her. There were many other aspects that he didn't see.

What Yan Yue mentioned on the phone reminded him of the Lu family in the past. Several uncles fought for the family property. Every time they gathered together during the Chinese New Year, the atmosphere in the Lu family mansion would be very strange. Lu Lingxi actually didn't understand. What was the meaning of such a life?

He pretended to glance at Yan Yue unintentionally, and became even more confused.
