Chapter 3 The Heart of Plants

Grandpa Su and Su Lang stayed in the hospital for a while and then left. Wang Shuxiu also packed her things and prepared to leave. She was the manager of a KTV. Unlike during the day, there were many customers and many things to do at night.

"I'm leaving. Can you handle it alone?"

Wang Shuxiu looked at Lu Lingxi suspiciously. She wanted to stay, but she still had to make money to support the family. A woman couldn't rely on her husband, so she could only rely on herself.

Lu Lingxi nodded, "I can do it."

When he said this, his expression was very serious, and his face was stern as if he was making a promise. Wang Shuxiu hadn't seen Lu Lingxi so well-behaved since he was three years old. She smiled and pressed Lu Lingxi into her arms, holding his head and kissing his forehead.

"You little bastard, you'll never have to worry about not having food to eat if you rely on this face."

Lu Lingxi pressed his whole face against Wang Shuxiu's chest, and his face suddenly turned red. He had never been so close to his mother since he could remember, not to mention that although Wang Shuxiu was the mother of this body, she was still a stranger to Lu Lingxi. He was embarrassed and wanted to break free from Wang Shuxiu's arms. Wang Shuxiu looked at him, kissed him on the forehead several times, and laughed and scolded: "Why are you so shy? Have you forgotten when you were breastfed as a child?"

Lu Lingxi: “…”

The male family members in the same ward looked on with envy. Wang Shuxiu had already stood up straight and told Lu Lingxi bluntly that if he wanted to drink water or go to the toilet, he could just ask other people in the ward for help, as they were all very enthusiastic.

Lu Lingxi nodded awkwardly. Wang Shuxiu gave her a few more instructions. Seeing that she was going to be late for work, she hurriedly left the hospital in her high heels.

As soon as Wang Shuxiu left, Lu Lingxi didn't know what to say to the people around him, so he closed his eyes and pretended to sleep. The ward he was in was a four-person room, with the 20th bed at the back, near the window. Lu Lingxi lay on his side facing the windowsill, and Su Lang's words flashed through his mind.

His death made his parents very sad. Lu Lingxi thought, that was enough. His operation failed, but his brother's kidney transplant was successful. He exchanged his life for his brother's, which was also a way to repay his parents' kindness. As long as his brother's health gets better, it won't be long before his parents gradually forget about his existence. In the future, he and the Zhongjing Lu family will have no connection anymore.

He is now Lu Lingxi, the son of Wang Shuxiu from Fengcheng. Although he doesn't know why he entered this body, since he has become Lu Lingxi, he should take on his responsibilities. Thinking of Wang Shuxiu, Lu Lingxi's deepest impression is the little bastard and the closeness he felt when Wang Shuxiu kissed him at the end, a closeness he had never felt from his mother.

"I am your mother, remember?" The words Wang Shuxiu said to him while pulling his ear were still ringing in his ears.

Lu Lingxi hugged the pillow and called silently: "Mom."

It was difficult for him to describe his feelings towards Wang Shuxiu. She behaved completely differently from his mother. She did not have the dignity and elegance that he thought his mother should have. However, he subconsciously wanted to get close to her.

Mother……

Because they were in the hospital, everyone went to bed early. The summer weather was very hot and humid, and the other family members who were taking care of the patient in the same ward just spread a few newspapers and slept on the floor. The constant snoring made Lu Lingxi toss and turn and he couldn't sleep well. He missed the time when he was unconscious. He just endured until 12 o'clock. Lu Lingxi couldn't fall asleep, so he sat up with difficulty holding the edge of the bed.

The lights in the corridors of hospitals are usually not turned off at night, and bright light shines in through the large glass on the ward door. Lu Lingxi looked around enviously. The patients and their families in the other three beds were all sleeping soundly. He was the only one in the ward who couldn't sleep. It was the middle of the night, and Lu Lingxi couldn't do anything. After scanning the ward, his eyes unconsciously fell on a pot of spider plant on the windowsill.

No one knew who raised this pot of spider plant. The soil in the pot had completely dried up, and the leaves were withered and dull, looking very listless, limply hanging on the edge of the pot. Lu Lingxi's heart moved, and he gently stretched out a finger to touch the leaves in front of him. He remembered that there was a bottle of mineral water bought by Wang Shuxiu at the bedside, and one bottle was enough to water the flowers. With this thought in mind, he turned around and just as he reached for the mineral water bottle at the bedside, a white panel suddenly appeared in front of him.

Lu Lingxi: “…”

The panel in front of him was about the size of two A4 sheets of paper, and as thick as a thin layer of paper. In the center of the panel was a black display screen, which looked very textured. Without any external force, the white panel floated lightly in front of him. Lu Lingxi subconsciously looked around. The other people in the ward were still sleeping, and the snoring continued. His eyes fell on the panel again. Perhaps because he had just experienced the miracle of dying and coming back to life, he was strangely not afraid at all. Instead, he had a small urge to see what the white panel in front of him was.

Lu Lingxi calmed down and carefully reached out and touched the white panel. A flash of blue light flashed, and the black screen in the center of the panel lit up. A pot of slightly dry spider plant appeared on the screen. Next to the spider plant were three lines of small words: Plant name: spider plant

Plant needs: Water

Plant survival rate: high

Lu Lingxi looked at the spider plant on the screen in shock, then turned his head to look at the spider plant on the windowsill. The two were exactly the same, even the color of the low-quality plastic flowerpot under the spider plant was exactly the same. He wondered if he was dreaming, and stretched out his hand to twist his arm. It hurt! The feeling was very clear, it should not be a dream. Since it was not a dream, it meant that everything in front of him was real. His eyes turned to the words "plant needs", hesitated for a few seconds, picked up the mineral water he had just unscrewed and poured it into the flowerpot on the windowsill.

The dry soil in the flowerpot was quickly wetted by water, and the word "water" behind the plant's needs on the panel turned into "none". He was surprised by the change in the panel when a green light flashed at the end of the long strip at the bottom of the panel, and a line of words appeared at the top of the strip.

Satisfy the needs of the Chlorophytum plant and be rewarded with +1 Plant Heart.

Lu Lingxi: “…”

Everything in front of him was too mysterious, and he had no idea what was going on. Out of a desire to explore, Lu Lingxi tried to tap the spider plant on the panel.

As his finger touched the pattern of the spider plant, the spider plant, which had been motionless, suddenly began to rotate, showing itself to him from all angles. Lu Lingxi opened his mouth in surprise, and his eyes fell on the three lines of small words on the left. The small words in the line that he touched would become larger and pop out. After touching all the lines that could be touched, his finger finally moved to the long strip below.

1∕100 (0th order)

This data gave Lu Lingxi an idea. He had just watered the spider plant once and gained 1 point of plant heart. If he watered the spider plant a hundred times, wouldn't he be able to gain 100 points of plant heart?

Lu Lingxi was lost in thought when the patient on the bed next to him mumbled something and turned over. He was startled by the movement behind him and carefully looked back to make sure everyone was asleep. His eyes fell on the white panel in front of him again. Just when he turned around, the white panel also moved with him, and remained about 30 centimeters in front of him.

Lu Lingxi tried to sway his body left and right for a long time, but no matter how he moved, the panel would move with him. Would this white panel always follow him in the future? Is there any way to make it disappear? As soon as this thought flashed through his mind, Lu Lingxi was surprised to see that the white panel in front of him disappeared. He blinked and tried to think "appear", but there was nothing in front of him. "Panel appears", but there was still nothing. He tried hard to recall the appearance of the panel in his mind, and this time the white panel appeared again.

Lu Lingxi's interest was aroused. He was like getting a fun toy, and all his attention was focused on exploring the panel. Until the daybreak, Lu Lingxi didn't figure out what this panel that suddenly appeared was. He just knew that through this white panel he seemed to be able to see the needs of the spider plant on the windowsill. Once he met the needs of the spider plant, he would get a little plant heart just like playing a game. He looked at the pitiful 1/100 (0th level) displayed below, and was a little curious about what would happen if he obtained 100 points of plant heart and upgraded?

The sound of nurses walking in the corridor began to be heard. Lu Lingxi put away the panel with a slightly tired look. After all, he had just finished the operation. Although he was excited, his physical condition was not up to par. He lay on the bed with his eyes closed, and couldn't help but think of the white panel that had just appeared. What exactly is the panel? How did it appear? Does it belong to the original owner of this body?

Lu Lingxi didn't know the answer to the first two questions, but he had a vague feeling that the answer to the last question should be no. If the panel belonged to the original owner of this body, the plant heart at one end of the strip would not be 0. But if the panel did not belong to the original owner of this body, then what was going on? He carefully recalled the experience of waking up, and an absurd idea came to his mind.

Could it be that the mysterious white panel appeared after the original owner of this body died, and the key to his rebirth was this white panel? Lu Lingxi remembered that the doctor said that the heart of this body had stopped beating for more than ten seconds. What happened in those ten seconds?

These unanswered questions troubled Lu Lingxi, and he kept thinking about his experiences during this period. He died and came back to life. Not only did he have a healthy body, but he also had a strange "toy". He turned over gently, thinking about how Wang Shuxiu called him a little bastard. He wondered what would happen if he told Wang Shuxiu the truth? She would probably slap him in the face without hesitation and then think he was lying.

This imagined scene made Lu Lingxi's mouth curl up unconsciously, and he felt sleepy, and finally fell into a hazy sleep.
