Chapter 514 Incurable Disease

"In the cemetery?"

Lin Fan felt something was off.

It's not Qingming Festival, nor the Ghost Festival, nor the Great Winter.

I've never heard of people going to visit graves at this time of year!

"Yes, they must be in the graveyard..."

Zhang Muwei stammered.

"what is going on?"

Lin Fan pressed for an answer.

"Brother Lin, it's hard to explain in just a few words."

"I'll take you to see it, and you'll understand."

Just then, Yan Xiaohan took over the conversation.

She hurried down the slope and led the way.

Lin Fan followed behind, until they reached a point about a mile outside the village.

This place is near the foot of the mountain and has a large cemetery.

"Master Lin, they're right there!"

Zhang Muwei pointed to the distance and said from afar.

"There's no one over there."

Lin Fan glanced at it, and his brows furrowed even more.

"It's that newly dug pit."

Yan Xiaohan pointed to a newly dug pit, large enough to hold a coffin.

"Mr. Lin, you'll see when you go and take a look."

Zhang Muwei spoke these words with great ambiguity.

Not only that, even Chen Dabao and his group had mysterious expressions.

"All right."

Lin Fan knew that these people had some unspeakable difficulties, so he said to Su Wan'er, "Come with me."

Are you sure you want me to go?

Su Wan'er looked at the vast expanse of graves, her heart pounding with anxiety.

She went to sweep her parents' graves before, and felt creeped out by the crowds in the cemetery.

The large cemetery in the countryside looks very irregular, just like a scene from a horror movie.

"What's there to be afraid of? Can a dead person be more terrifying than a living one?"

"I'll take you there; it'll be a good opportunity for you to build up your courage."

Lin Fan grinned and said, "You're not scared, are you?"

"Who says I wouldn't dare!"

Su Wan'er was provoked and immediately lost her temper.

She followed behind Lin Fan and walked towards the dug pit.

Before they even got close enough, they heard voices coming from inside the pit.

"Dad, the sky is so blue, and the clouds are so white."

"The sky in our village has always been this blue, and the clouds have always been this white."

“Dad, I heard them say that this is called a grave, and it’s where people go after they die.”

"No, this isn't a grave, it's a home."

"Dad, will this be my home from now on?"

"Yes, Miaomiao, are you scared living alone?"

"Yes, a little."

"Don't be afraid, Dad will come to visit you every day from now on, and he will pick beautiful flowers for you and bring you delicious candy."

"Really? That's wonderful!"

"Birds will wake you up in the morning, and you'll have small animals as your neighbors, so you won't be lonely."

“That’s wonderful, Dad. I’ve always dreamed of living in a place like this.”

"Would you mind being small and afraid of the dark?"

"No, I'm small to begin with, this size is big enough for me. If I'm afraid of the dark, I'll just go to bed early."

There was a long period of silence in between.

“Miaomiao…”

"Um?"

"Dad is sorry, Dad is useless!"

Suppressed sobs came from the pit.

"Daddy, don't cry. Miaomiao doesn't blame you. It's Miaomiao's own fault for getting an incurable disease."

"..."

"Dad, I'll dream about you when I miss you."

"Okay, if Dad finishes his work, he'll come to keep you company as soon as possible!"

The man exclaimed excitedly, "I'll live next to you and stay with you forever!"

By this time, he was already sobbing uncontrollably.

Lin Fan stopped in his tracks, his expression somewhat complicated.

He had already gleaned a clue from their conversation.

Su Wan'er, standing to the side, was the same; her eyes were already slightly red.

"Go! Go! Go!"

Just then, a strange, low growl came from the side.

Lin Fan looked up and saw that the fool Erchun had appeared out of nowhere.

He looked tense and wary, and shouted loudly at Lin Fan and the other person.

Su Wan'er was startled, thinking that Er Chun was going to attack them, so she immediately hid behind Lin Fan.

"Erchun, don't be afraid!"

"I'm Brother Cui's friend. I gave you some corn this morning."

Lin Fan quickly stated that he had no ill intentions.

However, Erchun didn't seem to recognize him and was still waving her arms.

He was agitated and looked fierce, seemingly ready to drive Lin Fan and the other person out of the place.

"Erchun, stop!"

Suddenly, a loud shout came from behind.

Upon hearing this voice, Erchun was completely stunned.

He obediently took several steps back and became well-behaved.

Lin Fan turned his head and saw a man crawling out of the pit.

The man was probably in his thirties, but his temples were already gray, and he looked weathered and tired beyond his years.

In front of him was a little girl tied up with a rope.

The girl was quite pretty, but her face was pale—an unnatural paleness, almost like a blank sheet of paper.

Who are you looking for?

The man walked up to him and asked in a low voice.

His voice was deep and resonant, but it was hoarse at the moment, and his eyes were red.

The little girl tied up in front of him had her limbs hanging limply, and could only try to keep her eyelids open.

Its small eyes darted around, curiously watching Lin Fan and the other person.

"Hello, we are looking for Chen Yanzhi and his family."

Lin Fan spoke up.

"I am Chen Yanzhi."
