Chapter 33: Daily Life and Adjustment After Marriage (Part 1)

Chapter 33: Daily Life and Adjustment After Marriage (Part 1)

As the hustle and bustle of the grand wedding faded, Huo Linshen and Su Lingwan officially entered a new chapter in their lives, called "marriage." They chose not to embark on a lengthy honeymoon. Su Lingwan's "Luminance" brand was experiencing a critical period of growth, and Huo Linshen needed to manage the backlog of wedding-related matters at the company. For them, the daily moments spent together were their most precious honeymoon.

They still lived in the villa in Repulse Bay, but it was no longer just Huo Linshen's residence; it had truly become their shared home. Su Lingwan's presence was everywhere—her easel and casually placed design sketches sat in the corner of the living room, her own desk and computer were in the study, and half of the cloakroom was occupied by her clothes and accessories. Even the air seemed to be filled with her elegant gardenia scent, intertwined with his usual cedar scent, forming a unique and warm aroma.

After marriage, Huo Linshen seemed to have completely torn off the last layer of cold disguise, pouring out his passionate and clumsy love without reservation in his daily life.

In the mornings, Su Lingwan often woke to the gentle kiss of a kiss. Huo Linshen seemed particularly captivated by her soft, drowsy, warm, and fragrant appearance upon waking. He would trace her eyebrows and eyes with his fingers, then kiss her forehead, nose, and lips. It was a light touch at first, then a fierce, undeniable passion, until he had completely woken her up, transforming her into a pool of spring water beneath him.

"Um... what time is it?" Su Lingwan was sleepy, her arms softly climbed up his neck, and her voice was hoarse and lazy with just waking up.

Huo Linshen leaned over her, his deep eyes burning with morning desire. His fingertips had already deftly opened the straps of her silk nightgown, his hot palms ironing her smooth back. "It's still early..." he replied vaguely, and the kiss fell again, this time with a deep and demanding touch that would not allow for rejection.

The morning light filtered through the gaps in the heavy curtains, casting an ambiguous shadow on the messy bed. Panting and subtle sobs intertwined, marking the beginning of a new day.

By the time they finally woke up, it was often over an hour later. Su Lingwan, blushing, was carried into the bathroom by Huo Linshen to wash up. The mirror reflected a faint red mark on her neck, and she couldn't help but glare at the sated man behind her. Huo Linshen simply chuckled, hugged her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. He looked at the two of them snuggling in the mirror, his eyes filled with undisguised possession and satisfaction.

Breakfast became regular and warm. Huo Linshen insisted on eating breakfast with her, even if he had to rush to a morning meeting. At the table, he would naturally place her favorite snacks on her plate. When she accidentally rubbed jam on the corner of her mouth, he would naturally lean over and wipe it off with his fingertips. And then...some mornings, he might steal a kiss with the sweet taste of jam.

"Mr. Huo, please pay attention to your image." Su Lingwan pushed him away with a red face, but she couldn't hide the smile in the corners of her eyes and eyebrows.

"What kind of image do I need in my own home?" Huo Linshen said confidently, his gaze still burning as he looked at her. He found that after marriage, Su Lingwan had lost her youthful immaturity and gained a touch of feminine charm and elegance. Her every frown and smile could tug at his heartstrings, often making him unable to control himself.

During the day, they each kept busy. Su Lingwan spent most of her time at the Luminance studio, or out negotiating partnerships and visiting artisans. Huo Linshen, on the other hand, remained at Huo's, handling the heavy lifting of business decisions. But no matter how busy they were, the two never lost touch.

It is no longer the formulaic reporting of the past, but a sharing full of the flavor of life.

Huo Linshen would take a picture of his lunch and send it to her: [Without Mrs. Huo, the food has no taste.]

Su Lingwan would send him a photo of a newly found rare gem: [Look, does it look like your eyes?]

Occasionally, on a tired afternoon, Huo Linshen would call directly. There was nothing important, just asking in a low voice: "What are you doing? I miss you." Then listening to her gentle voice on the other end of the phone, it seemed as if all the fatigue could be washed away.

However, marriage is not just a sweet companionship, but also a fusion of two independent individuals, and adjustments are inevitable.

The first little friction occurred on a weekend night.

Su Lingwan had already been working through two consecutive nights at the studio to finish a batch of important high-end orders. That night, she worked until 11 p.m. again, only to be sent home by Selina, who couldn't stand it any longer.

She dragged her tired body back to the villa and found that Huo Linshen was not working in the study as usual, but sitting on the sofa in the living room with a tablet in front of him, his face a little depressed.

"Are you back?" He looked up at her, his tone unable to tell whether he was happy or angry.

"Yeah, I'm so tired." Su Lingwan didn't notice his abnormality. She kicked off her high heels and wanted to walk upstairs barefoot. She just wanted to throw herself into the soft bed.

"Go take a shower first." Huo Linshen's voice had a hint of command.

Su Lingwan paused, feeling a little irritated. "I'm really tired. Can't I wash it tomorrow?"

Huo Linshen put down the tablet, stood up and walked in front of her, frowning slightly: "You stay up all night, your body can't take it. Be obedient, take a shower and relax before going to bed."

His concern was genuine, but that unquestionable tone sounded a bit authoritarian to the now exhausted Su Lingwan.

"I just want to rest for a while!" Su Lingwan's voice couldn't help but rise a little, with the grievance and anger accumulated from staying up late for days, "I'm not your subordinate, Huo Linshen! I know how to take care of myself!"

Huo Linshen was struck by her sudden temper, his face darkening instantly. He was used to being in control, used to her docility, and now, when she contradicted him, his aura of authority in the business world unconsciously shone through. "It's precisely because I know you can't take care of yourself that I have to control you! Look at your dark circles! What's more important, work or health?"

"Work is important to me, too! 'Luminance' is my life's work!" Su Lingwan glared at him without a hint of weakness. The pressure of recent days had made her speak without thinking. "Don't you often work all night too? Why should only the governor be allowed to set fires?"

This remark touched a sore spot for Huo Linshen. He did often work himself to the bone, but he felt that was the responsibility of a man, a leader, and that his woman shouldn't have to endure such hardships.

"That's different!" His tone became even colder, "I can do it, but you can't!"

"Why?!" Su Lingwan was so angry that her eyes turned red. She felt that he didn't understand her, so she turned around and wanted to rush upstairs.

Huo Linshen grabbed her wrist with some force and pulled her back. The two of them faced each other at the stairs, and the atmosphere suddenly dropped to freezing point.

Su Lingwan struggled, her wrists painfully gripped by his grip, tears welling up in her eyes. Huo Linshen looked at her red eyes and tired face, and the nameless anger in his heart was instantly replaced by heartache, but his pride prevented him from bringing himself to apologize.

At this moment, Su Lingwan's legs softened slightly due to the struggle and fatigue, and she almost fell.

Huo Linshen quickly held her tightly in his arms.

All the arguments disappeared instantly when he touched her soft and tired body. He sighed, picked her up and strode towards the bathroom next to the bedroom.

"Let me go!" Su Lingwan was still angry, punching his shoulders with her fists, but her strength was weak.

Huo Linshen let her beat him, carried her to the spacious jacuzzi and sat down next to her. However, he did not let her go. Instead, he wrapped her around his legs and held her tightly. He buried his face in the crook of her neck and took a deep breath of her scent, which was a mixture of light metal and paint. His voice was muffled, with a hint of frustration and compromise:

"Stop it...it's my fault."

Su Lingwan stopped struggling.

He continued to whisper, his voice filled with subtle fear: "I just... don't want to see you so tired. Lingwan, I already have too much, I don't want to be unable to take care of you... "

Su Lingwan's heart softened instantly at his words, which were filled with fragility and sincerity. She stopped struggling and leaned quietly in his arms, feeling the somewhat disordered heartbeat coming from his chest.

Yes, he was just caring about her in his clumsy way. Just like she would get angry when he had a stomachache and worry about him staying up late.

"I'm sorry..." She apologized softly, "I shouldn't have lost my temper with you... I'm just too tired."

Huo Linshen raised his head and looked at her obediently admitting her mistake. The last trace of unhappiness in his heart disappeared. He lowered his head and kissed the corner of her slightly red eyes, tasting a light salty taste.

"No more staying up all night," he ordered, his tone much softer. "If I catch you again, I'll tie you up at home and forbid you from going anywhere."

Although it was clearly a threat, it was filled with a strong sense of doting.

Su Lingwan burst into laughter, hugged his neck, and took the initiative to kiss him on the lips: "I understand, Mr. Huo."

A small storm was resolved with hugs and kisses.

Huo Linshen personally helped her run hot water, added her favorite soothing essential oil, and even clumsily tried to massage her sore shoulders. Although his technique was clumsy, Su Lingwan felt his clumsy apology and love.

Soaking in the warm water, her fatigue gradually dissipated. When Huo Linshen wrapped her in a large bath towel and carried her out of the bathroom, Su Lingwan was already drowsy.

He gently placed her on the bed, covered her with the quilt, then lay down on top and held her in his arms.

"Go to sleep," he whispered in her ear, his arm wrapped possessively around her waist.

Su Lingwan found a comfortable position in his warm and secure embrace and soon fell into a deep sleep.

Huo Linshen looked at her peaceful sleeping face, his fingertips gently brushing the faint dark circles under her eyes, his heart softening. He realized that marriage requires adjustment, mutual understanding and compromise. And he was willing to learn and change for the woman in his arms.

The moonlight outside the window is peaceful, and the two people sleeping in each other's arms in the room become closer in heart after a little friction.

The daily life of marriage flows slowly in this sweet entanglement and trivial running-in.
