Chapter 57 Utterly Absurd

"It's you again?" Upon seeing Chen Chongshan, the secretary was clearly surprised, and then angrily shouted, "You made a scene at the secretary's house, and now you've come to his office to cause trouble. Do you really think you can act lawlessly just because the secretary doesn't hold it against you?"

"Who are you?" Xu Jiaming stood in front of Chen Chongshan and asked the secretary.

The secretary looked at Xu Jiaming. This young man's clothes and demeanor were very different from Chen Chongshan's. He hesitated for a moment and replied, "My surname is Zhang. I am Secretary Wen's secretary."

"Director Zhang, hello. My surname is Xu. We are here to see Secretary Wen because we have something to discuss. If Secretary Wen is available now, we would appreciate it if you could inform him."

Xu Jiaming smiled faintly and used a very formal title to speak.

"This... wait a moment."

Secretary Zhang hesitated for a moment, but still nodded. As a secretary, his best skill was reading people's expressions and he could tell that Xu Jiaming was no ordinary young man, so he did not treat him with a cold attitude.

The secretary went in briefly and came out again quickly: "Secretary Wen has a meeting at 2 PM this afternoon, you have ten minutes."

"Okay, thank you, Director Zhang."

Xu Jiaming replied with a faint smile, and then led Chen Chongshan into the office.

The large office was spacious and bright. Xu Jiaming led Chen Chongshan to the desk and greeted him with a faint smile, "Hello, Secretary Wen."

"Hmm." Wenxue Ming looked down at the folder and said indifferently, "Tell me, what exactly happened? How did I become the dog thief you're talking about?"

“Secretary Wen, you’ve misunderstood. It wasn’t you who stole the dog, it was your son.”

Xu Jiaming replied with a faint smile. Although Wenxue Ming's attitude was not friendly, Xu Jiaming still maintained his composure.

Admittedly, no one would be happy if someone accused them of being a dog thief, especially when it comes to the high-ranking Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee.

"Wenfei stole a dog?"

Wenxue Ming paused for a moment, then looked up at Xu Jiaming and Chen Chongshan, and coldly said, "This is utterly ridiculous. Now that you know my identity, do you really think I don't even have the money to buy a dog for my son?"

"He needs to become a dog thief? That's utterly ridiculous and absurd!"

Wenxue Ming suddenly flew into a rage. He had been restraining himself, thinking that he didn't need to argue with two juniors, but he had already reached the limit of his tolerance.

Wenfei is his lifeblood. He will not allow anyone to insult his son. Moreover, it is the father's fault if he raises a child without teaching him properly. Their insult to Wenfei is also an insult to himself, Deputy Secretary Wen!

Xu Jiaming was somewhat surprised by the sudden outburst of the literary fame.

In his mind, an official of Wenxue Ming's stature should at least be able to keep his emotions in check. However, he never expected that he would enrage Wenxue Ming so much with just a single comment.

Xu Jiaming was somewhat disappointed. He felt that if the next Yizhou Municipal Party Secretary was taken over by the person in front of him, it would be a disaster. It was not hard to understand why Wen Fei and his group acted so arrogantly and domineeringly, given how worried Wen Jiaming was about his son.

With his father, the deputy secretary of the municipal party committee, unconditionally backing him up, there's really nothing he wouldn't dare to do in Yizhou City.

Stealing a dog, what's the big deal? If it weren't for a hothead like Chen Chongshan, no one would dare to come knocking.

"Secretary Wen, please calm down. I think you should first verify whether this matter is true."

Xu Jiaming looked at Wenxue Ming and said calmly. Although Xu Jiaming was not a person in officialdom, he had grown up in that kind of family since childhood, and his ability to cultivate his temperament was already quite good. At first glance, his level was much higher than Wenxue Ming's.

"Verify? Verify what? What am I supposed to verify?"

Wenxue Ming was still furious and shouted at Xu Jiaming, "You said Wenfei stole a dog? What evidence do you have? Show me the evidence!"

“If you cannot produce evidence, I will pursue legal action against you for defamation.”

"Is that right?" the literary name said coldly. Just as Xu Jiaming was about to speak, his phone suddenly rang. Xu Jiaming glanced at the caller ID and then pressed the answer button.

"Jiaming, you've arrived at the Municipal Party Committee, why don't you come over and visit Uncle Fu?"

A deep, steady middle-aged male voice came from the other end of the phone.

"Uncle Fu, hello. I was planning to come and visit you, but I need to talk to Deputy Secretary Wen about something for now."

Xu Jiaming replied with a faint smile.

"Is he with Lao Wen? Okay, I'll come over."

The person on the other end of the phone replied briefly, then promptly hung up.

Meanwhile, Wen Xueming's expression changed when Xu Jiaming answered the phone. He seemed to have forgotten that he had just been shouting that he would pursue Xu Jiaming for defamation. He asked hesitantly, "Was that Secretary Fu on the phone just now?"

"Yes."

Xu Jiaming nodded. Although his surname was Fu, he was a proper secretary. When he first entered the municipal party committee compound, he had registered under the name of Secretary Fu.

"Who are you?"

Wenxue Ming's expression turned somewhat serious. He looked at Xu Jiaming and asked cautiously. The office was large but also very quiet. He had clearly heard Secretary Fu say on the phone that he was coming over in person.

What kind of young man would be worthy of Secretary Fu's initiative to visit him?

"My surname is Xu, and my father works for the Chu-Nan Provincial Party Committee."

Xu Jiaming smiled and replied.

"Surname Xu? Works for the Chu-Nan Provincial Party Committee?"

Wenxue Ming paused for a moment, then began to think. Just then, the office door opened, and Secretary Fu strode in, laughing and saying, "Haha, Jiaming, you're not being fair. You came here without even going to my place first, and went straight to Lao Wen."

"Old Wen, when did you become acquainted with Jiaming? How come I didn't know?"

Secretary Fu first greeted Xu Jiaming, and then looked at Wen Xueming and asked.

“Uncle Fu, I’m here today to discuss some important matters with Deputy Secretary Wen, which is why I came here first,” Xu Jiaming said to Secretary Fu.

"Oh, how did the talks go?" Secretary Fu asked with a smile.

"Everything is settled." Xu Jiaming glanced at the literary titles a few times, then nodded with a smile.

"It's good that you've reached an agreement. Come and visit me. Uncle Fu will be hosting a banquet for you tonight."

Secretary Fu laughed heartily, and then gestured for the guests to come.

"Then I'll have to trouble you, Uncle Fu."

Xu Jiaming smiled and nodded, then greeted Chen Chongshan, said goodbye to Wen Xueming, and followed Secretary Fu out.
