Chapter 26 Tanzhou

My original intention in going to Tanzhou was simply to get Chongming a thorough examination first, to see if there was any hope of a cure, and then to determine the treatment plan.

Such a trip won't last too long, at most a week or two, at most ten days or half a month, and they'll be back. The two brothers have very little luggage, each carrying two sets of clothes to change into, which don't even fill a single suitcase.

The next morning, Chen Chongshan first went to the bank and deposited the 60,000 yuan into his bank card. After all, it was not safe to carry so much cash on his person. Then he took Ah Huang to Lao Qin's Wild Game Manor.

Besides the large courtyard at the front gate, Lao Qin's Wild Game Manor also has a courtyard at the back, which is quite spacious. There is also a small shed on one side of the courtyard, which is rarely used but can be used for Ah Huang to live in.

Wild Game Manor has many guests coming and going. Although Ah Huang doesn't usually hurt people, Lao Qin and Chen Chongshan still agree that it should be tied up.

Firstly, if Ah Huang isn't tied up, he might run back on his own. Secondly, if he hurts someone, it won't be a small matter. Chen Chongshan still feels lingering fear when he thinks about the time Ah Huang attacked Huang Mao's neck.

Ah Huang seemed a little uncomfortable being suddenly tied up in an unfamiliar environment. It didn't know what was going on or why its owner and this familiar fat man were restricting its freedom.

It had never been tied up since it was a kitten, and it disliked that feeling. Its hind leg injury had almost healed, and after resting for many days, it felt like it had gained a lot of extra fat.

It began to miss that mountain forest, the place where it had fought countless battles. It couldn't wait to run through the bushes, and even the smell of the gushing wild boar blood was so alluring.

But now that it was tied up, Ah Huang felt a little panicked and let out soft whimpers.

Chen Chongshan felt a little sorry for Ah Huang, so he squatted down and stroked Ah Huang's head, saying, "Ah Huang, be good and stay with Lao Qin for a few days. I'll be back in a while and come to pick you up then."

"Alright, Chongshan, don't worry, I won't mistreat Ah Huang."

Old Qin chuckled as he spoke, saying that he was quite familiar with Ah Huang and liked this loyal dog very much.

"Um."

Chen Chongshan nodded, patted Ah Huang's head, and then followed Lao Qin out.

Ah Huang was extremely anxious about its master's departure. It let out howling cries and tried to pull hard on the iron chain that was binding it. However, Old Qin was prepared. The iron chain binding Ah Huang was as thick as a thumb, and Ah Huang was unable to break free for a while.

Its anxiety slowly turned into anger, and a deafening roar emanated from the backyard shed, terrifying the stray dogs near the Wild Game Manor...

…………

Ah Huang's barking made Chen Chongshan feel a little sad, but there was nothing he could do. He was on his way to treat Chongming's illness, and he couldn't travel with Ah Huang, so he had to make do with it for the time being.

After settling Ah Huang in, Chen Chongshan returned home to pick up Chen Chongming. They hailed a three-wheeled vehicle, typical of small mountain towns, outside the street and headed towards the bus station...

The bus tickets were for 10:00 AM, and Chen Chongshan and Chen Chongming arrived at the bus station at exactly 9:30 AM.

Chen Chongshan set up the wheelchair, helped Chen Chongming into it, and pushed him into the waiting room. Just then, they saw Yuan Yuan looking around towards the entrance.

"Chongshan, here..."

Upon seeing the Chen brothers, Yuan Yuan waved her hand excitedly and called out, attracting the curious gazes of the two middle-aged men and women beside her.

"Sister Yuan Yuan."

As he approached, Chen Chongming called out with a smile.

"Well, it's alright, it's pretty punctual."

Yuan Yuan smiled and nodded. At this moment, the middle-aged man and woman beside them also came up, curiously looked at Chen Chongshan and Chen Chongming, and then asked Yuan Yuan, "Yuan Yuan, this is...?"

"Oh, Dad, Mom, this is my classmate Chen Chongshan, and this is his younger brother Chen Chongming."

Yuan Yuan smiled and pointed to Chen Chongshan and his brother as she introduced them; then she turned to introduce her own parents: "Chongshan, Chongming, these are my dad and my mom."

Hello, Uncle and Aunt.

Chen Chongshan suddenly felt a little flustered and hurriedly greeted the two of them along with Chongming.

"Hello, are you also going to Tanzhou?"

Yuan Yuan's father asked with a smile. He was a middle-aged man with a refined demeanor and a composed air, and it was clear at a glance that he was definitely not an ordinary working-class person.

Yuan Yuan's mother remained silent, standing to the side watching calmly. Although she was middle-aged, she still possessed an extraordinary air about her due to her good maintenance.

“Yes, Dad, they are also going to Tanzhou. Chongshan was my deskmate in high school. He did better than me in the college entrance examination and got into Tanzhou University.”

Yuan Yuan replied quickly with a smile.

"Tanzhou University? Great, great!"

Mr. Yuan laughed heartily and exclaimed "Good!" several times: "Chongshan, right? I also graduated from Tanzhou University, so I'm your senior in a way."

"And what about Chongming? What's going on here?" After saying that, Yuan's father looked at Chen Chongming and asked with a puzzled expression.

“I went to Chongming for medical treatment,” Yuan Yuan replied quickly.

"Treatment? Where are your parents?"

“My parents have passed away,” Chen Chongshan replied.

"I'm sorry."

Mr. Yuan was taken aback for a moment, and then said with a hint of apology.

"It's nothing, it's nothing." Chen Chongshan shook his head cautiously.

"Alright, it's almost time, hurry up and get in the car."

Suddenly, Yuan's mother, who hadn't spoken until now, spoke up. Everyone nodded and began walking towards the car.

Along the way, Yuan's mother gave Yuan Yuan a series of instructions, while Yuan's father seemed quite interested in the two Chen brothers, Chen Chongshan and Chen Chongshan, asking them many questions along the way. Even after arranging for them to sit down, he didn't forget to add before getting off the car: "Chongshan, this is the first time our Yuan Yuan is traveling far away by herself. She doesn't want us to see her off. If she has any difficulties at school, we'll have to trouble you."

"Of course, if you two brothers encounter any difficulties, you can also go to her."

Chen Chongshan nodded: "Uncle, don't worry, we will."

"Okay." Mr. Yuan got out of the car with satisfaction. Yuan Yuan complained a little embarrassedly, "This old man is so long-winded."

“Sister Yuan Yuan, I think Uncle is a good person,” Chen Chongming retorted.

Yuan Yuan smiled but didn't say anything, while Chen Chongshan also turned to look out the window.

…………

The journey from Meishan to Tanzhou involves crossing the Taohua River, known as the "nest of beauties," and then passing through Yizhou. The entire trip takes about three hours.

When the car arrived at Tanzhou West Station, it was already past 1 p.m. After getting off the car, the reception areas for new students from various universities were already lined up in the open space outside.

After looking around with great interest, Yuan Yuan pointed to the direction to her left and shouted to Chen Chongshan, "Chongshan, look! Our Normal University and your Tantan University's freshman reception areas are all over there, right next to each other."

“Yuan Yuan…”

Chen Chongshan followed Yuan Yuan's directions and looked over, then paused, shook his head and said, "Yuan Yuan, you go ahead. You go to school first. I won't go to register for the time being. I need to take Chongming to get a checkup first."

"ah?"

Upon hearing this, Yuan Yuan was taken aback for a moment, then realized what she meant: "That's right. The report starts tomorrow, which is still several days away. I'm not in a hurry. Let's find a place to stay near the hospital first, and then take Chongming to see a doctor first thing tomorrow morning. I heard that it's quite difficult to get an appointment at Yaxiang Hospital, so we'll probably have to get up early."

"Yuan Yuan, you go to school first, I'll take Chongming there."

Chen Chongshan shook his head and replied.

"No rush. Let's take Chongming to see a doctor first. You're not familiar with Tanzhou, and you definitely can't handle it alone. I've been here a few times before, so we can help each other out."

Yuan Yuan persisted in replying.

"this……"

Chen Chongshan hesitated again. Yuan Yuan was right. This was his first time traveling to Tanzhou, and he was unfamiliar with everything. He had only seen Yaxiang Hospital on a map and knew that it was on Renmin Road in Hedong, but he didn't know how to get there.

But Chen Chongshan felt a little guilty about having Yuan Yuan come with him.

"Alright, stop dawdling and hurry up. Let's go find a place to settle down first, and then we'll come out to eat."

Without saying a word, Yuan Yuan tossed her travel bag to Chen Chongshan and pushed Chen Chongming toward a taxi that was soliciting passengers outside, asking, "Chongming, are you hungry?"

I'm not hungry.

Chen Chongming shook his head, but his eyes were looking around at the bustling city. The towering skyscrapers were so real in front of him, and Chen Chongming's young heart was quite excited.

"Okay, when we get there, we'll drop off our luggage, and then I'll take you to Pozi Street for a big meal."

Yuan Yuan replied with a smile that Tanzhou is a city famous for its food and entertainment culture, and Pozi Street is the most famous snack street in the city.

"Okay! Sure!" Chen Chongming nodded excitedly.

…………

It took another forty-odd minutes to get from the West Bus Station to Renmin Road. Yuan Yuan used her mobile phone to find a hotel online and booked two rooms, one for herself and one for the Chen Chongshan brothers.

Looking out of the hotel room window, you can see the outpatient building of Yaxiang Hospital across the street. At this time, the area in front of the outpatient building is already crowded with people, as densely packed as a train station during the Spring Festival travel rush.

“Chongming, you will be able to stand up when we get out of here.”

Looking at the rows of hospital buildings, Chen Chongshan said to Chen Chongming, who was staring out the window in a daze.

"Um."

Chen Chongming nodded firmly, his eyes gleaming with a different kind of light.
