Chapter 30 The Unknown World

After leaving the hospital, Chen Chongshan was no longer as nervous as before, but felt a bit bitter inside.

There is hope for a cure for his younger brother's illness, which is the answer he has been longing to hear. However, the 500,000 yuan medical bill has become a huge mountain, weighing heavily on his heart.

Although Chen Chongshan had promised Professor Jiang that he would raise the 500,000 yuan as soon as possible, he had no clue how to do it at the moment.

Five hundred thousand is not a small amount. He only has sixty thousand now, leaving a shortfall of four hundred thousand. He doesn't know where to get the four hundred thousand. Does he really have to sell his kidney?

Even if he were to sell his kidney, Chen Chongshan wouldn't know where to find a buyer.

The group returned to the hotel with heavy hearts. Yuan Yuan looked at Chen Chongshan and Chen Chongming with a worried expression and said, "Chongshan, what are you planning to do? Where are you going to get this money?"

"I don't know either." Chen Chongshan shook his head, his brows furrowed.

After leaving the hospital, Chen Chongming remained silent, his expression calm. Chen Chongshan didn't talk to him, but he knew his younger brother and knew that he must be feeling even worse than he was.

“Now that the check-up is done, let’s go to school to register first. We can figure out the money later,” Yuan Yuan said after a pause.

“Yuan Yuan…”

Chen Chongshan looked at Yuan Yuan, and then solemnly said, "After we check out of the room, we'll take you to school first, and then I'll take Chongming back to Meishan."

"What?"

Upon hearing this, Yuan Yuan was taken aback, and then hurriedly asked, "Are you going back? Chen Chongshan, don't you want to study anymore?"

"Yeah, I'm not going to study anymore."

Chen Chongshan looked at Yuan Yuan and replied in a deep voice, "Yuan Yuan, actually I never planned to continue my studies in the first place. You know my family's situation better than anyone else. If I go to school, what will happen to Chongming? And now the situation is even more different. If I go to school, where will I find money for Chongming's medical expenses?"

"But even if you stop studying, what can you do when you go back? How are you going to find 500,000?" Yuan Yuan asked anxiously.

"I don't have a clue right now, but as long as I'm willing to work hard, I'll always find a way," Chen Chongshan replied in a deep voice.

"What method? Are you just going to rely on you and Ah Huang hunting wild boars in Lianshan Bay? Even if you hunt all the wild boars in Lianshan Bay, how much can you raise? This isn't just a little money, it's 500,000 yuan, how many wild boars would that require?" Yuan Yuan shouted angrily.

"Ah Huang?"

Hearing Yuan Yuan mention Ah Huang, Chen Chongshan's heart tightened again, and he replied, "Yuan Yuan, no matter what, I definitely can't continue reading this book. We have to go back to Meishan today. Old Qin called early this morning to say that Ah Huang is lost. He has been looking everywhere but hasn't found him. I have to go back."

"What? Ah Huang is lost?" Yuan Yuan was stunned, then angrily cursed, "What is that fat Qin good for? He can't even keep an eye on a dog."

"Sister Yuan Yuan, thank you. Brother, let's go back."

Chen Chongming, who had been silent all along, became somewhat anxious upon hearing the news that Ah Huang was missing.

“Okay, let’s go, Yuan Yuan, we’ll take you to school first,” Chen Chongshan said.

"Never mind, I'll take you to the station. Once we get there, I'll go back to school with the welcoming seniors," Yuan Yuan replied, shaking her head.

"All right."

Chen Chongshan nodded and, without further hesitation, pushed Chen Chongming out. Chongming's huge medical expenses weighed heavily on his mind, and the news of Ah Huang's disappearance made him even more worried.

Ah Huang is not an ordinary Chinese rural dog. Although Chen Chongshan initially thought Ah Huang was just an ordinary mongrel when he picked him up, he didn't realize it was a purebred Central Asian Shepherd Dog until Ah Huang grew up.

Even a puppy of this purebred large, powerful dog is quite expensive, let alone a strong adult dog like Ah Huang...

Chen Chongshan wasn't worried about Ah Huang's ability to fight alone, but now there were all sorts of dog thieves and tranquilizer guns that could leave Ah Huang defenseless.

Chen Chongshan dared not think about what Ah Huang's fate would be if it fell into the hands of these people...

…………

After Ah Huang left home to avoid Lao Qin, it ran straight to the vast forests of Lianshan Bay. It ran along the dirt road to the place where Chen Chongshan often took it hunting, and then went up the mountain from there.

After running from Lao Qin's wild game farm to home in the middle of the night, and then from home to this mountain forest, Ah Huang was a little hungry after this long journey.

It began to slowly search for prey on these hilltops, but this area had been turned upside down a few days ago by itself and its master Chen Chongshan, who led a group of wealthy young men from Tanzhou, and the original prey had all been scared away.

Ah Huang searched all morning without any results, but it did not get discouraged. It looked up at the sky and knew that if its owner was still there, he would probably come up the mountain to check on the animal traps and snares.

Ah Huang didn't continue searching for prey on its own. Instead, it followed its memory to find the animal traps and snares that its owner had set out with it. It knew the location of the traps and could smell their scent, which would prevent it from stepping into them.

Ah Huang's memory was flawless; it found all the traps its owner had set. Unfortunately, it didn't spot its owner, Chen Chongshan, and caught no prey from the traps. Somewhat disappointed, it lay down and waited until sunset…

As darkness fell, Ah Huang still hadn't seen Chen Chongshan. It stood up. Having followed Chen Chongshan for so long, it knew that Chen Chongshan wouldn't choose to go into the mountains at night.

Its continued waiting would be futile, and it was already starving. After looking around the traps again and finding nothing, it turned and ran deeper into the forest...

Besides missing its owner, Ah Huang also missed the thrilling battles in the mountains and forests. It had been resting at home for almost a week due to a leg injury.

It had never been before that it hadn't gone hunting in the mountains for so long. It began to run faster through the forest, enjoying the freedom and unrestrained feeling while searching for prey to fill its stomach.

Ah Huang was very fast. It had been hungry all day and hadn't eaten anything, so it was eager to find some prey. It had crossed several hills and was almost at the deepest part of Lianshan Bay.

Although it always carefully avoids danger when it is with its owner, now that it is acting alone and has no other worries, Ah Huang is fearless. In this mountain forest, it is not afraid of any opponent in a one-on-one situation. Even if it encounters the king of the forest, a mountain boar weighing more than 400 pounds, it can walk away calmly.

Hungry Ah Huang finally encountered its first prey: a black muntjac, one of the fastest wild animals in the southern mountains. The muntjac spotted Ah Huang before Ah Huang even noticed it and then ran away.

Ah Huang gave chase, but the black muntjac was clearly faster. After chasing for a while, Ah Huang gave up. It had encountered these creatures before; speed was their advantage. Ah Huang knew it couldn't compete with their speed, so it stopped chasing and began looking for other prey.

There were significantly more wild animals deep in the mountains than outside. Soon, Ah Huang encountered its second prey: a bamboo rat gnawing on the roots of thatch grass. Catching this creature was Ah Huang's forte. It darted to the entrance of the bamboo rat's burrow and then pounced on the rat.

With nowhere to retreat, the bamboo rat could only raise its head and bare its teeth to attack. Its teeth were incredibly sharp, even more lethal than Ah Huang's fang knife. However, its body limited its fighting ability. Ah Huang raised its leg and gently pressed down, then bit the bamboo rat's neck, ending its life.

A bamboo rat weighed two or three pounds, and Ah Huang had a delicious meal. Although it couldn't eat its fill completely, the fresh and delicious meat still satisfied it.

After resting for a while, and with its hunger and fatigue gone, it stood up again and looked around at the vast forest.

Dogs have excellent night vision, so the darkness didn't affect them much. As they looked around this unfamiliar area, the smells of various wild animals in the air stimulated their sense of smell. They detected many scents they had never encountered before and wondered what kind of creature it was and whether they should go and test it out.

Ah Huang is just a dog after all; it doesn't have many complicated thoughts. If it has an idea, then it should just do it.

It began to sniff the air and continued running deeper into the forest. It found the first source of the strange smell: a pangolin.

Upon hearing the noise, the pangolin instantly rolled into a circle, protecting itself with its thick scales. Ah Huang circled the creature a few times and tried to poke it with its claws, but gave up after realizing it couldn't find a place to bite.

It had just eaten and didn't have much of an appetite, plus it smelled bad and was covered in annoying ants...

After abandoning the pangolin, Ah Huang didn't stop. It ran off to other places, places it had never been before.

It was filled with curiosity about this unknown world, and just as it was running, it suddenly heard a strange noise ahead. Ah Huang looked up and saw a brownish-yellow muntjac rushing out of the bushes ahead.

Just as Ah Huang was about to rush forward, it sensed another unusual movement. It stopped and looked up in that direction, only to see two beams of oily green light also looking towards it...
